Tracking the Duo

"I am going to track down Spopovich and Yamu now. If you are willing, follow me; I believe you will be of great help." Seeing Spopovich and Yamu—who had drained Son Gohan's energy—use the Flight Technique to depart the Martial Arts Tournament, Supreme Kai spoke in a tone that was calm yet tinged with a hint of pleading, before vanishing with a "swish" to follow the pair.

The few people in the lounge looked at Son Gohan lying on the tournament stage, then were suddenly drawn to the sound of two sonic booms echoing one after another.

"That is... Goten," the group noted, seeing Son Goten leave first, followed by a dark green figure. "And Trunks, too."

"I'm going as well. I want to know what Supreme Kai meant when he said we could help," Son Goku said, watching the backs of Son Goten and Trunks with a confident smile.

Over the ocean, two figures wrapped in white auras were fleeing forward at breakneck speed.

"With this energy, Majin Buu will awaken soon. Lord Babidi will surely be very pleased," Yamu said with an evil grin, looking incredibly excited.

Yet, these two idiots had no clue that three people were tailing them, and the tracking method was amateurish at best.

"You are... the people with Mr. Son Goku," Supreme Kai said, surprised that Son Goten and Trunks had followed. He couldn't quite tell with Trunks, but one look at Son Goten made it obvious he was Son Goku's son. Still, Supreme Kai scolded the two, "Why have you come? You two children should head back at once."

Clearly, Supreme Kai had not been watching the junior division matches; had he known, he certainly wouldn't have said that. Not to mention Son Goten, Trunks alone already possessed the strength to stand against Son Gohan—and I am referring to the Super Saiyan form.

"No way," Son Goten said, looking coldly at Supreme Kai. "Those two troublemakers dared to absorb my brother's energy. I won't let them get away with it."

Sensing the aura radiating from Son Goten, Supreme Kai was shocked. He never expected Son Goten's power to exceed Son Gohan's, or even come so close to Son Goku's.

"Fine, but be careful," Supreme Kai said, sweat dripping down his mohawk, having no choice but to offer a word of caution.

Truth be told, Spopovich and Yamu were indeed idiots. Not only were Son Goten and the others tailing them openly, but Son Goten was even emitting a terrifying aura—anyone would know they were being followed. These two had been forcibly powered up by Babidi, but he hadn't granted them the ability to sense ki.

"Gohan!" Seeing Son Gohan lying on the ground with vacant eyes, Videl couldn't help but run onto the stage.

"Hey, isn't that Miss Videl?"

"What's going on? Wasn't she severely injured just a moment ago?"

The audience was bewildered; how was Videl, who had been so badly hurt, now jumping around as if nothing had happened?

"Well, I'll go too, though I'm a bit reluctant," Krillin said. "I'm going to go say a word to my wife."

"Oh, alright," Son Goku agreed.

"Are you kidding me, Kakarot?"

Vegeta was instantly enraged. Damn it, I finally have a chance to duel you, and you're trying to slip away? "We still have a duel to finish!"

"Uh, there are more important things right now!" Son Goku said, breaking into a cold sweat.

"Don't think you can brush me off," Vegeta wasn't buying it. No matter what, he was going to duel him. "I don't care about some Supreme Kai. The only reason I came to this boring tournament was to settle things with you."

"How about we find another time to duel?" Son Goku continued to stall.

"Don't try to fool me. You can only stay in this world for one day," Vegeta retorted, still furious.

"Why don't you come with me to the other world?" Son Goku suggested.

"Pah."

Damn it, you're trying to abduct me? When have you ever seen a living person with nothing better to do than run into the land of the dead? My life is great right now; why would I go die with you?

"Let's go!" Piccolo shouted, following Supreme Kai out of the venue.

Son Goku quickly jumped onto the stage. "I'll leave Gohan to you."

"Rest assured, I will go once I have healed him. Though I suspect Son Gohan will follow as well," Kibito said, still wearing that "you owe me five million" expression.

Son Goku looked at Kibito in silence, then his figure blurred as he broke the sound barrier to give chase. Seeing Son Goku leave, Vegeta let out a "tch" and followed him into the sky.

It took only a few minutes for Son Goku and the others to catch up to Supreme Kai and his companions at full speed.

"You came after all," a look of relief appeared on Supreme Kai's face. "If not for you, I might have lost."

"Lost? Are those two that hard to deal with?"

Son Goku looked blankly at the two idiots being tracked ahead. He really couldn't see what was so impressive about them that even Supreme Kai would claim he might lose.

"No," Supreme Kai shook his head. "They are merely puppets."

Supreme Kai said solemnly, "A long time ago, when humans on Earth first began to walk upright..." (The same introduction as the original work, but it's too long and the author is too lazy to write it, lest you say I'm padding the word count.)

Perhaps it was the butterfly effect, but Trunks heard the legend of Majin Buu and didn't act like a childish brat saying it sounded fun, as he did in the original.

"In other words, we must stop Majin Buu from awakening," Son Goku said seriously.

"Yes."
