Fated Showdown

Son Goku stared silently at Vegeta, then raised his head and roared, "Babidi, I've decided to fight Vegeta. Send us somewhere uninhabited."

"Wait!" Supreme Kai shouted, blocking his way with both arms outstretched, his expression resolute. "If you insist on fighting, then you'll have to defeat me first."

Looking into Supreme Kai's determined eyes, Son Goku watched him silently for a moment. Then, under everyone's disbelieving gazes, he calmly raised a hand and aimed it at Supreme Kai. Energy gathered in his palm, and a brilliant blue energy blast shot out.

Supreme Kai was crying on the inside. I'm a Supreme Kai, at least. Couldn't you leave me a little dignity?

Seeing that Son Goku wasn't joking, Supreme Kai gave in. He lowered his arms helplessly and stepped aside. "Fine. Do whatever you want."

"Sorry, Supreme Kai," Son Goku said, a trace of regret appearing on his face.

"Bababoo!" Seeing that there was no more excitement to watch, Babidi used magic to transport Son Goku and the others to an uninhabited place suitable for fighting.

"You two fight. Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and I will destroy the passage and go after Babidi," Supreme Kai said, having come to terms with the situation. "Even if it means Majin Buu revives early, we can't let him revive after absorbing all that energy."

Supreme Kai spoke as though Majin Buu's revival was already inevitable. Rather than let him revive at full strength, it was better to let him wake up early.

"If we're lucky, we might even be able to stop Majin Buu from reviving." Supreme Kai clenched his fist, preparing to smash the entrance to the passage.

"Do you think I'll let you get away with that?" Babidi had been watching them closely. Hearing that Supreme Kai planned to make Majin Buu revive early, he immediately ordered Vegeta in his mind, "Vegeta, kill that nuisance."

"Ugh!" Hearing Babidi's voice in his head, Vegeta clutched his head and fought against Babidi's control. The "M" on his forehead glowed a sinister red.

"I refuse," Vegeta said. "What Supreme Kai and the others do has nothing to do with me. I want to fight Kakarot."

"What?" Babidi stared at Vegeta in shock. "I'll say it again. Go kill Supreme Kai!"

Damn it, you'd better come grovel at my feet.

Vegeta struggled even harder, his expression growing more and more savage. "I said it already. My only target is Kakarot. I'm a proud Saiyan Prince..."

"Even if you control my body and mind, my pride will never obey you!" Vegeta unleashed his energy and roared furiously at the sky.

Why does Vegeta seem like some maiden about to be violated? And why does everyone love Dad so deeply? They're all guys, too. Son Goten ranted inwardly.

"Damn, this is the first time this has happened." Babidi looked utterly dumbfounded. If you won't obey me, then just say so. Why make it sound like I'm trying to violate you? I'm not into guys.

Unbelievable. Someone actually managed to resist Babidi's control. Supreme Kai was stunned.

The passage opened in the ground. Babidi had listened to Dabura's advice. He was also afraid Supreme Kai would be driven to desperation and make Majin Buu wake up early. That wasn't something he wanted to see, either.

"Oh, right, Gohan." Son Goku took a Senzu Bean out of his clothes. "Gohan, that fight just now took a lot out of you. Eat a Senzu Bean and recover first."

"Okay, Dad." Son Gohan took the bean and tossed it into his mouth.

"Gohan, think back to your fight with Cell. As long as you get angry and unleash all your power, no one in this world will be able to beat you," Son Goku said.

"Okay, but... Dad, it's such a shame to waste this precious day," Son Gohan said regretfully.

Son Goku smiled faintly and looked at Son Goten. "Come here, Goten. Let Dad give you a hug."

"Oh." Son Goten was taken aback at first, but when he was in Son Goku's arms, he felt as if his heart had been squeezed. He fought back his tears, forcing himself not to cry. After all, this was the first time he'd ever felt a father's love—not even in his previous life had he experienced it.

"We'll go on ahead." Son Gohan led Son Goten and Trunks into the passage, with Supreme Kai following behind them.

Son Goku watched them go with a gentle gaze. Then his expression grew serious again as he turned to Vegeta.

"I don't want you to hurt me and give Majin Buu my energy, so I'll end this fight as quickly as possible," Son Goku said calmly.

Oh, please. Anyone can talk big. Vegeta only smirked. "Great. Let's see the results of your training in that other world!"

Tuan.

Son Goku transformed again. All his hair stood on end except for a lock over his forehead, and arcs of electricity crackled around him. He looked exactly like Son Goten had back then.

Vegeta kept a calm expression on the outside, but inside he was freaking out. Damn, Kakarot almost caught me off guard. If Babidi hadn't boosted my power, he really could've taken me out in one hit.

"As expected of Kakarot. Your power is even greater than Gohan's was back then," Vegeta said, maintaining his cool demeanor no matter how much he was freaking out inside.

"Ha!"

Tuan.

Vegeta roared and transformed into a Super Saiyan 2 as well.

Son Goku raised an eyebrow. Damn, you can do it too? How am I supposed to show off now?

Vegeta savored the look of surprise on Son Goku's face. Good thing I let Babidi control me and boost my power. That was a perfect display. Where are the flowers? Where's the applause?

"Looks like we won't be able to end this quickly," Son Goku said coldly.

"Come on! I'm going to kill you, Kakarot!" Vegeta laughed wildly and shot toward Son Goku like an arrow loosed from a bow.

Vegeta kicked sideways at Son Goku, who raised an arm to block the attack. Vegeta pulled his leg back and drove a straight punch at him.

Son Goku caught Vegeta's fist and countered with a straight punch from his free hand. Vegeta caught Son Goku's punch.

Boom.

Boom.

Boom.

Both fighters had one of their hands locked against the other's. With no choice but to use their knees to clash, they sent ripples through the air. Each collision rang out across the land with a thunderous boom.

Two mighty warriors at the Super Saiyan 2 level were locked in battle. Meanwhile, Son Goten and the others had taken care of Babidi's soldiers and reached the final boss.
