"Seriously, why are we out here wasting our time collecting Dragon Balls?" Son Goten rolled his eyes at the five-star Dragon Ball in his hand and asked Trunks, who was standing in front of him.
Trunks excitedly took the Dragon Ball from Son Goten and tucked it into his backpack, which was already bulging with five identical spheres.
"Don't you think this is fun? You're dying to see what Shenron looks like, right?" Trunks offered a reason Son Goten couldn't refuse. Clearly, Son Goten was just as curious about how big the real dragon actually was.
"Only one left. Let's go, Goten." Trunks pressed the button on his Dragon Ball Radar, located the final ball, and took to the sky, followed by Videl, who had tagged along out of curiosity.
Son Goten shook his head slightly, trailing behind them. Something felt familiar—was this a movie plot? Wrath of the Dragon? No, that took place after the Majin Buu incident, and Son Goku should have been resurrected by then... Holy crap, it's Broly. Oh, hell no.
Son Goten's brow furrowed, his expression shifting to one of sheer terror. Dammit, this is "The Dangerous Duo! Super Warriors Never Rest," isn't it? I can't escape this, can I? He scratched his head, forced to accept the reality. But in the original story, Broly only went berserk because Son Goten's crying reminded him of Son Goku. It's fine, as long as I don't cry, I'll be safe.
Reassuring himself, Son Goten followed Trunks and Videl to the location of the final Dragon Ball.
"So, this is all it takes to summon that dragon?" Videl asked, looking at Trunks's shoulder bag with skepticism.
"No doubt about it. That's what my mom told me." Trunks patted his chest confidently, then looked at Son Goten with excitement. "Goten, if it were you, what wish would you make?"
"Me?" Son Goten scratched his head, confused. He really didn't know what he would wish for. The original Son Goten would have asked for toys, but he had the mind of an adult; he didn't really need anything.
"If it were me, I'd want a castle made entirely of cake," Trunks said, his eyes gleaming as if he could already see it.
Son Goten's mouth twitched. You should go find Big Mom for that.
"Anyway, let's get the Dragon Ball first," Son Goten said, pointing speechlessly at the ball sitting in a bird's nest.
"Right."
Videl and Trunks lunged for the nest at the same time. Son Goten smirked, chuckling to himself as he dove toward the ball as well.
After a chaotic scramble, the Dragon Ball, which had been nearly in Trunks's grasp, was knocked away when Videl and Trunks collided.
"Hey! Why did you suddenly jump out like that?"
"You were the one blocking my path!"
Son Goten clutched his forehead in frustration, watching Trunks and Videl pass the blame back and forth. This, he realized, was what you'd call a team of idiots.
"Kakarot."
Suddenly, a deep, ominous voice echoed from behind Son Goten, causing his pupils to shrink. His head turned toward the sound with mechanical stiffness.
What greeted him was a man with spiky golden hair, yellow eyebrows, and pale green eyes. His muscular physique was fully exposed—a rather handsome young man.
Holy crap, why is Broly here? I didn't cry! I didn't even say a word, so why did you show up? Son Goten's eyes widened in horror, his body trembling from the sheer pressure radiating from Broly—a pressure that resonated deep within his bloodline.
"Huh? Who's that?" The two bickering kids naturally felt Broly's unhidden ki. Trunks asked, "Goten, do you know him?"
"Kakarot," Broly growled, a savage grin spreading across his handsome face. With a roar, he lunged forward and sent Son Goten flying with a single punch.
It hurts. That was all Son Goten could feel. It was like being hit by a high-speed train. With a splash, he was sent crashing into the ocean.
"Goten!" Trunks's face went pale as he watched his friend hit the water. Furious, he transformed into a Super Saiyan and charged at Broly.
"Goten! Trunks!" Videl clenched her fists and fired a barrage of ki blasts at Broly, but given her strength, they were nothing more than a tickle to him.
"Damn you!" Son Goten burst out of the water, golden aura flaring, and joined the fray alongside Trunks to face Broly.
BOOM.
BOOM.
CRASH.
In the air, Trunks and Son Goten rained attacks down on Broly, but the intense battle left them both looking battered.
Broly seized an opening and blasted them both away. "Kakarot!" he roared, his ki suddenly surging. Terrifying energy began to leak from his body, causing the very earth to tremble.
This ki... it's Broly. Son Gohan, who had been training, suddenly felt that familiar, dreaded energy. His eyes widened, a flicker of fear deep within them. Clearly, Broly was the most hopeless opponent he had ever faced. He, Son Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Piccolo—all five of them, even at the Super Saiyan level, had been powerless against him. If they hadn't pooled their energy into Son Goku at the end, they'd all be long dead.
"Damn it!" Son Gohan cursed, gathering his energy and using his Flight Technique to rush toward the battlefield at top speed. He had thought Broly was finished off by his father seven years ago; he never imagined he'd survived and come to Earth.
"Goten, Trunks, Videl... please, you have to be okay," Son Gohan gritted his teeth, praying as he flew.
