The Invincible Broly

"Roar."

Broly frantically increased his power. The ki inside him seemed endless. With a thunderous boom, he exploded in a burst of green light.

Ripples spread through the air. Every ripple that passed made the world change color. As the light faded, Broly's figure appeared before everyone.

His muscles swelled, resembling Super Saiyan Third Grade. His golden, spiky hair turned a lustrous green, and beneath his pale yellow eyebrows, his eyes were completely white. With his savage face, he looked like a demon crawling out of hell.

"Kakarot!" Broly aimed at Son Goten and unleashed a barrage of green Ki Blasts.

"Oh no! Run, Trunks!" Son Goten cried, eyes wide. He stared at the incoming blasts, maneuvering to dodge them. Trunks was standing beside him, so he had no chance to escape either. Neither boy had time to speak as they dodged amid the barrage.

"I'll help you!" Seeing Son Goten and Trunks surrounded by Ki Blasts, Videl shot forward to save them.

"Don't—don't come over!" Seeing Videl approach, Son Goten hurriedly called out to stop her. He could sense that each Ki Blast held enough energy to kill her.

Thud.

Just as Videl was about to reach them, a stray blast struck her. A tall figure caught her, and Videl struggled to open her eyes. The handsome face of Son Gohan came into view.

"Gohan...," Videl murmured, then passed out.

"Hm?" Broly stopped what he was doing and turned in confusion toward Son Gohan, who had set Videl down and was now standing in midair. Recognizing his face, Broly roared, "Kakarot!"

"Broly? I can't believe you survived after Dad defeated you back then." Son Gohan looked at Broly and transformed into a Super Saiyan with a "whoosh," muttering under his breath.

"Kakarot!"

Broly remembered Son Goku lying beside him when they were still on Planet Vegeta. It was as if he could still hear Son Goku crying. His memories shifted to seven years ago, when Son Goku had briefly increased his power by drawing on the ki of Vegeta and the others, then defeated him with a single punch. Broly could no longer contain his rage.

"Kakarot!"

Roaring, Broly shot forward like a cannonball, speeding toward Son Gohan. Son Gohan furrowed his brow and repeatedly blocked Broly's attacks.

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

Every time they collided, ripples spread through the air. Broly seized an opening and appeared behind Son Gohan in an instant. He grabbed both of Son Gohan's arms and pulled them back, driving his knee into Son Gohan's back.

"Ahhh!"

Son Gohan was in agony, and his heart was filled with unwillingness. If only he still had the power he'd possessed seven years ago—the power that had defeated Cell...

"Hyah!" x2.

Seeing Son Gohan's predicament, Son Goten and Trunks thrust out their arms and fired a blast of energy from each palm.

"Hm?"

As if sensing their attacks, Broly merely grinned savagely. He didn't dodge, taking the full force of their energy blasts.

"Yeah! We hit him, that monster!" Trunks said smugly. "Idiot! Why'd you let them hit you? Now you're done for!"

"No, he isn't," Son Goten said, staring at the spot hidden by the smoke, his expression grim. "Sense his ki. It hasn't weakened at all."

"What?!"

Trunks stared in disbelief. As the smoke cleared, Broly stood there completely unharmed. He had only stopped tormenting Son Gohan.

"He-he-he... He's a monster!" Trunks said in terror.

"Heh." Broly sneered and let go of Son Gohan. Unconscious and lacking the strength to maintain his transformation, Son Gohan reverted from Super Saiyan to his normal state.

"A monster? No, I'm a demon! Hahaha!"

The world fell silent. Only Broly's wild laughter echoed across the sky.

"That guy's nothing but a complete lunatic," Son Goten said, his expression dark.

Suddenly, Broly sprang into action. He seized both boys by the throat and charged forward with the force of his momentum, smashing through one stone pillar after another.

"Die, Kakarot!" Broly flung his arms, hurling Son Goten and Trunks into a rocky mountain.

"Cough, cough!" Son Goten struggled out of the rubble. He had reverted from Super Saiyan to his normal state. Being grabbed by Broly had really hurt.

"Kame..."

"hame..."

Hearing the muffled voice behind him, Broly looked back. Son Gohan held his hands together at his waist, fingers curved like a flower bud. A bright blue sphere of energy glowed in his hands.

"ha..."

"me..."

"Heh." Broly looked at Son Gohan with disdain, as if he didn't even consider him a threat.

"ha!"

Once the energy had gathered, Son Gohan let out a loud cry. A brilliant blue beam shot straight toward Broly, seeming to split the world in two.
