In the blink of an eye, three days had passed.
Ren Tingting rose early that day. Not only was it the day Old Master Ren would be reburied, but it was also the day she would see Fei Luo.
However, an uninvited guest came to the Ren Family that day.
Ren Tingting wore a traditional blue long gown, her hair tied up, looking just like the sweet older sister next door.
The moment she came downstairs, Ren Tingting ran into someone—someone she utterly despised.
"Yo, Cousin, you've gotten prettier again. When did you get back? Why didn't you tell your cousin? I could've picked you up." A-Wei wore his hair parted down the middle, round glasses on his face, and a yellow suit. With both hands tucked in his pockets, he looked like a street punk.
Hearing that lecherous voice, Ren Tingting said unhappily, "What does it have to do with you when I came back? Is it any of your business?"
"Listen to you, Cousin." A-Wei wore a sleazy grin and pushed up his glasses. Just as he was about to speak, he saw Master Ren coming downstairs.
"Uncle-in-law, why are you up so early today? Where are you going?" A-Wei still did not dare act too brazenly in front of Ren Tingting's father.
"We're raising the coffin and reburying my father today. No one will be entertaining you today, A-Wei." Master Ren glanced at A-Wei and could not help thinking of Fei Luo again. Compared to Fei Luo, A-Wei was practically a pile of shit.
If they were not related, Master Ren truly would not have wanted anything to do with him.
Still, A-Wei worked at the Police Station. No matter what, an old hand like Master Ren was skilled at keeping up appearances. He had never shown any disgust toward him, which had once led A-Wei to believe that a toad like him could feast on swan meat.
"Oh my, Uncle-in-law, how could you not tell me about something like this? I'll go find you some strong young men right away—"
"No need. We prepared the manpower long ago. We don't need your help." Ren Tingting cut him off directly, displeased.
"Tingting, don't be rude to your cousin." Master Ren immediately spoke up. "A-Wei, I had everything ready three days ago. Don't worry yourself over it."
"No, no, I still have to go. How could I, as a junior relative, not help with such an important matter as breaking ground?"
Unable to withstand A-Wei's shameless persistence, Ren Tingting could only let him follow them, mindful of her father's expression.
Before long, more than a dozen sturdy young men who had been waiting with ropes and prepared wooden frames followed the Ren Family to the hillside of South Mountain.
Just as Master Ren arrived, Uncle Nine came from afar with Fei Luo, Qiusheng, and Wencai. They arrived at precisely the agreed-upon time.
Qiusheng and Wencai carried their packs forward and quickly began preparing the ritual tools and altar.
The moment Ren Tingting saw Uncle Nine and Fei Luo, she ran over like a fragrant breeze. "Uncle Nine, Fei Luo, you're right on time."
Then Ren Tingting ran straight to Fei Luo's side and began chatting with him in front of everyone.
Master Ren seemed to turn a blind eye to it as he stepped forward to greet Uncle Nine.
Among the crowd, A-Wei saw his cousin standing beside a handsome young man, and jealousy welled up in his heart. He looked at Master Ren. "Uncle-in-law, what are these people here for?"
Master Ren chuckled. "A-Wei, moving a grave and reburying the deceased is a serious matter. This is Uncle Nine, and those are his disciples. I invited them to perform the rites."
A-Wei did not take in a single word. He stared fixedly at Fei Luo, who was chatting with Ren Tingting.
Heh, just some lowly apprentice, and he dared compete with me, A-Wei, for a woman?
Perhaps it was jealousy toward Fei Luo, or perhaps he could not stand seeing Ren Tingting smile so happily at him. In any case, A-Wei was annoyed beyond measure as he strolled toward Fei Luo and Ren Tingting.
Fei Luo had gotten up early that morning. It could not be helped—his reward was getting closer and closer starting today. How could Fei Luo not be enthusiastic?
But at that moment, Fei Luo suddenly sensed hostility.
After becoming a Foundation Establishment cultivator, Fei Luo could vaguely sense malicious intent directed at him.
When he looked up and saw A-Wei strutting toward him with his nose in the air, Fei Luo immediately smiled.
He knew this guy was a sleazy creep, and he knew what he was about to do.
"Kid, what's your name?" A-Wei asked, both hands in his trouser pockets and his nose tilted toward the sky as he looked at Fei Luo.
"A-Wei, he's my friend. What are you trying to do?" Hearing the displeasure in A-Wei's tone, Ren Tingting immediately stepped in front of Fei Luo, puffing out her chest as she faced A-Wei.
"Heh." A-Wei gave a cold laugh. "Friend? Cousin, is this the kind of friend you make? What kind of man hides behind a woman's backside?"
"You—" Ren Tingting immediately flew into a rage and pointed at A-Wei, ready to retort. Fei Luo was her friend, and she would not allow this sleazy cousin of hers to insult him.
Just then, Fei Luo stretched out a slender hand and patted Ren Tingting's shoulder, signaling for her to step back.
"Miss Ren, it's fine. He's only barking a few times. Dogs that bite usually don't bark." Fei Luo smiled warmly at Ren Tingting, then headed toward Uncle Nine without even looking at A-Wei.
"You! Who are you calling a dog?" A-Wei was instantly enraged when Fei Luo not only insulted him but ignored him as well. He pointed at Fei Luo and shouted.
"Hmm?" Fei Luo turned back and looked around. "Is there a dog here?"
"Ha ha ha!"
The commotion drew the attention of the accompanying young men, and someone could not help laughing aloud.
Anyone with eyes could see that A-Wei was a complete idiot!
"You're laughing? Laugh again and I'll arrest every last one of you!" A-Wei's face flushed red. Humiliated and enraged, he immediately reached for the pistol at his waist.
At those words, everyone fell silent, but the mockery in their eyes was obvious.
"Xiao Luo, do you see anything unusual?" Uncle Nine looked at Fei Luo, his gaze carrying both a question and a test.
The day before yesterday, Fei Luo had instantly comprehended the Supreme Clarity Great Cavern Scripture, which contained much knowledge regarding the fortunes and misfortunes of feng shui.
Master Ren also turned to look at Fei Luo.
Even A-Wei, who had been holding his nose high in the air, wanted to see what Fei Luo could possibly say.
"Master Ren, this grave site is indeed excellent. It is a Dragonfly Skimming Water Grave. The site is three zhang and four chi long, but only four chi can be used; it is one zhang and three chi wide, but only three chi can be used. Therefore, Old Master Ren could not be buried flat. He had to be given a Dharma Burial. Am I right?"
Fei Luo glanced at the grave being steadily excavated and casually spoke, making Master Ren beside him raise a thumbs-up.
"Impressive. Just as expected of Uncle Nine's disciple." Master Ren's eyes were full of admiration. What Fei Luo had said was exactly the same as what the Feng Shui Master had said back then.
"Fei Luo, what's a Dharma Burial?" Wencai scratched his head in confusion. "Does it mean being buried like the French?"
"Stop talking nonsense! Listen to Fei Luo! It's all because you never study properly and only know how to embarrass yourself!" Uncle Nine was instantly speechless. He truly could not understand why, despite both being his disciples, the gap between them was so great.
