"Yeah."
Fang Cheng glanced at her. "Is there a problem?"
Kanzaki Rin felt her blood pressure rising. "Of course there's a problem! Don't you think what you're doing is shameless?"
If you like someone, you have to be wholehearted; how can you write love letters to two girls at once?
Fang Cheng looked at her, surprised. "What's shameless about that? You receive over a dozen love letters a day, so why can't I write them to a dozen girls? That's a double standard!"
Kanzaki Rin's face darkened, and for a moment, she was speechless.
Fang Cheng pressed on relentlessly. "No way, no way. Don't tell me there are still people who think that just because it's the 21st century, men have to be devoted to one woman while women can keep a whole group on a leash to see who offers the best price? That's discrimination against men! Do you have any concept of gender equality in that head of yours? It's truly chilling. What exactly do we men have to do to satisfy you people? When will we finally be able to stand tall..."
Fang Cheng continued his relentless verbal assault, while Kanzaki Rin's expression grew darker and uglier by the second.
"Shut up! Stop spouting nonsense..."
"Is that it? Is that all you've got? Can't win an argument so you resort to silencing me? You're infringing on my freedom of speech..."
"Enough!"
Kanzaki Rin was so angry she was about to snap, radiating an aura that warned everyone to stay away, as if she were about to lunge at Fang Cheng and fight to the death.
Fang Cheng wisely shut his mouth. It wasn't that he was a coward; he just didn't want this woman to lose her mind and start a brawl with him right in the middle of school.
Winning or losing was one thing, but being gawked at like a monkey in a zoo was another.
Kanzaki Rin quickly regained her composure. She was supposed to be the calm, collected type, yet she always lost her cool in front of this guy.
She could only attribute it to Fang Cheng's shamelessness; she had never met anyone like him in her entire life.
The two stared at each other in silence for a moment before Fang Cheng sneered, "I think the one who has had enough is you, Kanzaki-san. Do you like me or something? You stare at my every move all day, even following me to the bathroom. While that kind of clingy behavior is cute, I don't like stalkers."
This level of sarcasm was no longer enough to break Kanzaki Rin's defenses. She crossed her arms and sneered, "Monitoring you, a potential monster, is a duty assigned to me by the Area 11 government. You have no right to refuse."
"That sounds like a Walmart cashier claiming they're an indispensable employee of a Fortune 500 company."
Fang Cheng retorted, though beneath his annoyance at being constantly watched, he didn't want to blow things out of proportion.
Being monitored like this was still better than being dragged off and locked up by the Disaster Countermeasure Department.
The fact that Kanzaki Rin hadn't broken her word puzzled Fang Cheng. She had no reason to keep letting him go while wasting her time tailing him.
Fang Cheng couldn't figure out what Kanzaki Rin was up to, and Kanzaki Rin couldn't get what she wanted. Neither dared to probe further for fear of provoking the other, leaving them in this stalemate.
Kanzaki Rin suddenly asked, "In the last two days... have you had any urges to drink blood?"
"Maybe... or maybe not."
Fang Cheng was intentionally vague. He hadn't actually turned into a vampire, so how could he have an urge to drink blood?
However, he couldn't reveal his golden finger, so he had to keep up the act of being a vampire for now.
Kanzaki Rin clearly didn't believe him, thinking he was just putting on a brave face.
But given his bizarre behavior, she couldn't be one hundred percent sure. Yet, if he didn't need to drink blood, could he even be called a vampire?
Fang Cheng spread his hands. "Believe what you want. Regardless, I'm a law-abiding citizen."
You, the guy who secretly sold his own kidney, have the nerve to call yourself law-abiding? Kanzaki Rin felt a headache coming on. She glanced at Fang Cheng and walked away without a word.
Fang Cheng raised his middle finger at her back.
"By the way..."
Kanzaki Rin suddenly turned around and saw the middle finger.
The atmosphere froze for a moment. Kanzaki Rin stared at him, expressionless.
Fang Cheng slowly retracted his middle finger and poked it into his nostril to pick at it. "Something else?"
Kanzaki Rin gave him a look of disgust. "My monitoring of you is, to some extent, for your own protection. You don't need to deliberately avoid me. Just behave yourself."
With that, she walked away without looking back, terrified that if she stayed a second longer, she'd be tainted by this disgusting guy.
"Protecting me?"
Fang Cheng frowned slightly. Could it be that her claim about vampires coming after him wasn't just fear-mongering, but the truth?
But even then, she had no reason to protect him.
The three afternoon classes passed in a blur. Asaka Akie didn't come to talk to Fang Cheng during the breaks.
It wasn't because of what happened at noon, but because she knew that frequent contact would lead to misunderstandings; Asaka Akie was very good at maintaining that balance.
Fang Cheng was happy to be left alone, managing to brush up on a little bit of the high school curriculum he had long since abandoned.
After school, as his classmates either headed home or went to club activities, Fang Cheng prepared to leave, but a male student suddenly called out to him.
"Fang-san, it's your turn for cleaning duty today."
Fang Cheng checked the cleaning schedule and confirmed it was indeed his turn, not someone dumping their work on him.
He had no interest in being special, so he stayed behind to do the work honestly.
By the time he finished, everyone except the students still in club activities had already left the school.
Fang Cheng arrived at the entryway shoe cabinet with his schoolbag. Just as he finished changing his shoes, two burly students suddenly appeared and flanked him.
"Are you Fang Cheng? Our club president wants to see you."
Without waiting for Fang Cheng to agree, one student grabbed his arm on each side and hauled him away.
Fang Cheng wanted to resist, but his current strength was no match for these two. Last night's training had only slightly improved his stamina, far from enough to display superhuman strength.
"Who is your club president, and why does he want to see me?"
Fang Cheng, being carried with his feet off the ground, still had the presence of mind to ask.
"Our club president is Morishita Yamato. You haven't heard of him, have you?"
The student on the left replied with a smile, but it was far from friendly. His tone was laced with mockery, and his smile was malicious.
Fang Cheng thought for a moment before remembering who Morishita Yamato was.
The basketball club president. In his memory, the man resembled a powerful gorilla.
Morishita Yamato was undoubtedly at the very top of the school's hierarchy, someone no one dared to provoke. He was the type of person who could assault a teacher and not get expelled, known for his arrogant and overbearing nature and his deep family background.
Ordinary students wouldn't dare to breathe too loudly in his presence.
A nobody like Fang Cheng would naturally not attract Morishita Yamato's attention, or he would have disappeared long ago.
So, he was very curious why the other party wanted to see him. Could it be because of Kanzaki Rin?
Before long, Fang Cheng was brought to the indoor basketball court.
He had expected to face a group of tough guys, but to his surprise, there were only two people on the court.
One was Morishita Yamato, practicing his shots. True to his nickname, "Kashima Gorilla," he was nearly two meters tall, his muscles bulging, making his loose jersey look like a tight fit.
With a face full of coarse flesh and fierce eyes, he could go straight to a film set without makeup and play a villain, the kind that would scare children into crying.
The other person was sitting to the side, a gaudily dressed female student covered in sparkling accessories, with a bit of a Shibuya Gyaru style.
Fang Cheng recognized her as Morishita Yamato's girlfriend, Miyamoto Masami, who was also one of the "untouchable" figures at school.
Miyamoto Masami was pretty and had a good figure, but her Shibuya-style attire was quite off-putting, at least for Fang Cheng, who kept his distance from such aesthetics.
