Heh. So this was what it meant to be the protagonist? Even with a cheat, he couldn't catch up.
This result pointed to only one thing: his cheat wasn't powerful enough.
"Whatever." Li Shu glanced at Krillin, whose battle power was only 35, and felt a little better.
But soon, Li Shu started wondering about something. They'd been together for over five months, yet he still hadn't triggered a single achievement quest involving Krillin.
But when he thought about it, it made sense. He and Goku had spent five years together at Mount Paozu without triggering a single achievement quest either.
"There's still plenty of time. I refuse to believe I can't do it." Li Shu stared at Krillin with shining eyes, and Krillin immediately felt a chill run down his spine.
During those five short months of training, Krillin had often felt that way.
"Goku's gaze is terrifying. Could he really have improper intentions toward me?" Krillin instinctively kept his distance from Li Shu, feeling a trace of fear.
Li Shu smiled and looked away.
That evening was the final day of registration for the World Martial Arts Tournament. Master Roshi brought Li Shu, Goku, and Krillin to the registration venue, and they soon completed the sign-up process.
When he learned that the preliminaries would begin the next day, battle-loving Goku was very disappointed.
But after running into Bulma, Yamcha, Oolong, Puar, and the others, Goku cheered up again. They were all good friends he'd made while collecting the Dragon Balls.
Yamcha was a bandit who lived in the evil desert and made his living robbing people. He was the founder of the Wolf Fang Fist. Though he wasn't bad at heart, after meeting Goku and becoming Bulma's boyfriend, he completely turned over a new leaf.
Oolong and Puar were both animal people with supernatural abilities: a pig and a flying cat. They'd been classmates at the Shape-Shifting Kindergarten and had both mastered the supernatural ability known as [Transformation].
When he was a child, Li Shu had been extremely envious of that ability. Now, his childhood dream was about to come true.
"Li Shu?" Bulma looked at him in surprise, then quickly grew angry. "Weren't we supposed to go our separate ways? Why did you disappear without calling me? You had me worried sick!"
Bulma was beautiful, and she had a unique charm when she was angry. At first, Li Shu had been interested in her, but once he learned the story, he quickly abandoned the idea. Those who knew, knew.
He was somewhat of a romantic prude.
If Vegeta learned about his wife's past, what would a proud man like him do?
He'd probably only be able to take it out on Master Roshi, since he couldn't beat Kakarot.
Hmm? Could this be a way to trigger a hidden achievement quest? Li Shu quietly filed the idea away.
He figured that someday in the future, after Vegeta and Bulma got married, he'd have to give it a try. After all, if he didn't go to hell, who would?
Faced with Bulma's questioning, Li Shu apologized repeatedly. He really had forgotten to let her know he was safe.
Bulma snorted, then dropped the matter.
Soon, Goku and Bulma introduced everyone, and they all got to know one another.

After a brief catch-up, everyone returned to their lodgings to rest and make their final preparations for the preliminaries the next day.
Li Shu left the hotel alone and went to Nobi Bear's yakitori shop.
During the five months of training with Master Roshi, Li Shu hadn't forgotten the orders Nobi Bear placed each month.
He'd also been encouraging Nobi Bear to open branch shops, hoping to see if he could farm some achievements.
The yakitori shop was booming, and Nobi Bear was swamped. But the moment he saw Li Shu, he put down his work and hurried over to welcome him.
"Li Shu, you came at just the right time. Try my new dish, 'Raw Marinated Dinosaur Lantern.' I bet you've never eaten anything like it before. It's huge, and it's so satisfying to eat."
Raw marinated dinosaur what? Li Shu wondered if he'd heard wrong. Did people actually eat that? Raw and marinated, at that? No wonder this nation was known for being perverted. They really lived up to the reputation.
"No, no, I just ate. I'm full, so I'll pass. I'm here for the tournament and thought I'd drop by to see you." Li Shu hurriedly refused.
Nobi Bear suddenly said, "To be honest, I have a favor to ask you, bro."
