Background / History

Beerus awakens on the Planet of Destruction after sensing the aura of a Super Saiyan God during Son Goku's battle with Goku Black. He immediately orders Whis to locate the source, then travels to Earth with him. 25 26

Upon arriving, Beerus halts the confrontation between Goku and Goku Black. He identifies Goku as resembling the figure from his dream and demands a battle. When Goku Black attempts to flee, Beerus stops him with a threat severe enough to leave Black frozen in place. 26

Whis's investigation cannot trace Goku Black's origin beyond an unexplained break in time. Although Whis urges caution over a possible conspiracy, Beerus insists that no one may challenge his authority without punishment. 26

After Goku Black escapes, Beerus redirects his anger toward testing Goku's Super Saiyan God power. He restores neither the Earth nor Goku himself—Whis does—but allows the battle to continue after Whis reinforces the planet to withstand their clash. 27
