Background / History

The Divine Firmament Dao Sect is an ancient thunder-oriented Daoist sect based in the Divine Firmament Mountain Range. It dominates the Great Ming Dynasty and is renowned for its wealth, military strength, lightning arts, extensive formations, and long record of campaigns against demonic factions. Its reputation is sufficiently fearsome that ordinary demonic cultivators regard an encounter with its disciples as disastrous. 115 207 235

For hundreds of thousands of years, the sect has endured periods of decline but repeatedly restored itself through the resources preserved in its secret realms and the cultivation of exceptional successors. Its continued existence is also tied to the seal beneath Dragon-Locking Abyss: the sect is responsible for purging the seal's demonic corruption every century and confirming the integrity of its orthodoxy. 526

During the conflict with the Nether Ghost Sect, the sect seized Yellow Dragon Ridge, broke through the Hengyue Mountain Range barrier, and expanded northward into Black Dragon Province and Moyun Province. Its leadership intended to use the conquered territory both to rebuild the sect's strength and to train its disciples for future campaigns. 235 246

Under Li Yunjing's rise from disciple to Sect Leader, the sect defeated major demonic forces including the Ghost Sha Hall, Demon Control Sect, Nether Ghost Sect, and Mystic Ice Hall. It stabilized influence across the East Sea, South Sea, Great Ming Dynasty, Hengyue Mountain Range, and Ghost Moon Kingdom. 568 708 761 796

Following the devil calamity, the sect suffered devastating losses—retaining only seventy-two main peaks and fewer than four hundred thousand cultivators—but received territory, Spirit Stone veins, and ancient-secret-realm exploration rights through the Tianlan Liaison Council. It later gained legal jurisdiction over nearly three-fifths of the Southern Heaven Continent. 836 837

After the Heaven's Punishment campaign, the sect established the Divine Firmament Dojo on Heavenly Emperor Ancient Star's central continent and the former High Heaven Palace small world, creating an overseas foundation in the New Dawn Star Region. 906

Doctrine and Cultivation

The sect's central inheritance is the Divine Firmament Dao, a thunder-based Great Dao that is not limited to lightning techniques. Its teachings hold that thunder can evolve into and encompass diverse methods, allowing cultivators of different disciplines to perceive corresponding Dao patterns through its principles. 699

Its cultivators are especially proficient in lightning arts and treat thunderstorms as ideal opportunities to absorb heavenly thunder. 207 241

Thunder Methods

  • Five Thunders Method — foundational thunder inheritance practiced by sect disciples. 167 531
  • Divine Firmament Dao Qi Refining Formula — early cultivation formula associated with the sect. 167
  • High Firmament Jade Pivot Slash-Verdict Five Thunder Great Law — supreme thunder method capable of invoking Thunder Mansion power and multiple divine thunders. 368
  • Nine Heavens Response Thunder Scripture — later core thunder scripture cultivated by Li Yunjing. 767
  • Invocation of Gods — allows qualified cultivators to call upon divine generals and divine power to purge evil. 265 526

Religious Tradition

The sect venerates high-ranking deities. Devout specialists may use divine invocation to invite a deity's possession, potentially displaying combat power beyond the Thirty-Six Heavenly Transformations or Seventy-Two Earthly Transformations. 265

Its identity is rooted in righteous thunder orthodoxy and the principle of punishing evil on Heaven's behalf. It is not indiscriminately hostile toward all outside sects, though it holds a deep-seated revulsion toward the Nether Ghost Sect. 245 860
