Background

Lin Haixian was born the son of a fisherman. After saving a Linjiang Academy disciple while rowing his boat, he was recommended to study at the academy. He concentrated on literature rather than martial arts, but his tanned skin and fishing-background lifestyle led to ostracization by his peers. He eventually left the academy after denouncing certain members as people who wished to stand above ordinary citizens. 32

His denunciation made him a target. He escaped pursuit by jumping into the water; when he surfaced, he held a sword. The years that followed were marked by alternating between being hunted and hunting others. His swordsmanship grew through these life-or-death encounters, and he became famous after wounding a core member of the Tianwu Holy Land. 32
