Background / History

The Otsutsuki clan operates through an extreme hierarchy: those in higher positions possess absolute authority, while those below are expected to satisfy them at any cost. Uchiha Mirai compares this structure to the former main- and branch-family system of the Hyuga clan. 190

Kaguya Otsutsuki betrayed Isshiki Otsutsuki during a Divine Tree sacrifice. Rather than becoming the sacrifice herself, she used the severely wounded Isshiki to feed the Divine Tree, consumed its fruit, and gained immense power as the “Goddess of Flowers.” 190

Fearing pursuit from her clan, Kaguya used the Divine Tree and Infinite Tsukuyomi to create White Zetsu soldiers. Her sons, Hagoromo and Hamura, eventually rebelled against her; their months-long battle devastated the Ninja World before they sealed Kaguya with Six Paths: Chibaku Tensei, forming the moon. 191

The clan’s bloodlines continued within the Ninja World. The Hyuga clan descends from Hamura Otsutsuki, while the Uchiha, Senju, Uzumaki, and Kaguya clans carry the bloodlines of Hagoromo’s descendants to differing degrees. 192 254

A separate Otsutsuki population survived on the moon under a main- and branch-family system. The branch family eventually destroyed the main family using the Giant Tenseigan; Toneri became the lunar clan’s last survivor. 290

Kaguya’s Release

Mirai broke Kaguya’s seal on the moon with Yin-Yang Release. Kaguya initially intended to reclaim the Ten-Tails, but became cooperative after recognizing Mirai’s power and later served him. 293 294 295

Otsutsuki Invasions

Momoshiki and Kinshiki invaded the Land of Vegetables, only to be overwhelmed by Tsunade and Uchiha Mirai’s forces. Momoshiki was killed after Mirai stopped his escape with time manipulation. 305 308 309
