Background / History

Founded by Founder Jingyun thousands of years before the main story, the sect became one of the Southern Region's Ten Great Sects. Its early prestige relied heavily on its resident Xiantian Realm Supreme Elder, while its recruitment doctrine emphasized righteous action, demon-slaying, and service to the sect. 1 2 9

The sect's long conflict with the Blood-Oath Sect escalated when the Blood God Child challenged its disciples over mining rights. Meng Tangtang's victory and the secret intervention of Lin Cheng protected the sect's emerging talent, but also exposed how urgently Jingyun Sect needed a successor capable of reaching Xiantian. 4 5 6

Blood-Oath elders later infiltrated the sect and stole its spirit vein core, injuring Grand Elder Old Lady Xu. Lin Cheng killed the intruders from the shadows and recovered a fused, mid-grade spirit vein core; the elders consequently concluded that a hidden ancestor was guarding the Library Pavilion. 12 13 14

Old Lady Xu's death plunged the sect into its greatest internal crisis. It entered lockdown, recalled its members, and lost most of its disciples and several elders to desertion; within a month, only 278 registered members remained, including 23 elders or deacons. 42 44

The remaining members endured the Three Mountains Alliance's siege through their Sect Protection Array and a stockpile of Pill Pattern-grade medicines. The medicines raised the strength of the sect as a whole, produced new Xiantian experts, and enabled Jingyun Sect to rout the vastly larger alliance. 49 53 54 61

Lin Cheng subsequently revealed himself as the sect's Foundation Establishment ancestor, transforming Jingyun Sect's position in the Southern Region. Under Fairy Ziyun's administration, the sect recovered, expanded its recruitment, eliminated the Blood-Oath Sect's remnants, and grew beyond the strength of an ordinary two-star sect. 65 77 105

• Mountain grounds — The sect is built among lush mountains and auspicious clouds, with pavilions and halls said to shine with immortal light. Each major hall is rumored to be guarded by an “immortal.” 1

Following its recovery, the sect resumed recruitment through the Burning Heaven Tower. Candidates who cleared its altered final assessment were accepted directly as core disciples, a rank second only to the Sect Master and elders. 77 82
