Ancient decline

The Lin Family was once a powerful clan centered on its ancestral land in Heavenly Star City. Founding Ancestor Cheng entered seclusion roughly ten thousand years before his return; after the family’s demigod ancestors died, hostile forces gradually began targeting the clan. Sword Ancestor later reached the demigod realm and temporarily kept those enemies at bay, but the family declined again after Cheng's aura could no longer be detected. 572

The main line remained at the ancestral land despite the danger. To its descendants, the site represented the family’s faith and duty; abandoning it would have meant abandoning the legacy built around Founding Ancestor Cheng. 597

Han Family crisis and Cheng's return

By the time of Han Li's attack, the Lin Family had been reduced to relying on Divine Sun experts and a damaged grand formation. Lin Hanshuang led the clansmen to the sealed ancestral land, intending to preserve part of the bloodline before making a final stand against the Han Family. 569 570

The ancestral gate opened during the battle, and a black-robed elder shattered Han Li's power of the world. He was revealed as Lin Cheng—Founding Ancestor Cheng—who killed Han Li with a single strike. The family recognized him as the ancestor they had believed dead and renewed its confidence in survival. 570 571

Cheng refused to directly assume the position of clan head. Instead, he chose to support the Lin Family from behind the scenes while Lin Hanshuang and the elders continued to manage its affairs. 572

Rebuilding Heavenly Star City

The family’s grand formation, once essential to its survival, had been damaged and compromised by Master Ma. Cheng dispersed Ma’s control, later upgraded the formation by an entire tier, and distributed refined pills to accelerate the clan’s recovery. 579 580 588

When the Zhang and Huangfu Families organized other factions to seize the Lin ancestral land, the Lin Family resisted under its restored leadership. The invading forces were routed, and the family used the resulting resources to expand rapidly. 583 586 588

After killing the Heavenly Nether King, the Lin Family secretly took control of Heavenly Nether City and its surrounding territory while continuing to act under the dead ruler's name. This concealment was intended to prevent stronger enemies from noticing the family’s rapid growth. 596

Branch-line reunification

The Mysterious Yellow Lin Family maintained close blood ties with the main line and had continued sending supplies to Heavenly Star City despite its own difficulties. Its members regarded support for the ancestral land as a longstanding mission rather than a mere obligation. 597

When Founding Ancestor Qianyuan of the Mysterious Yellow branch neared death, the branch considered selling territory to purchase a Heavenly Soul Pill. Cheng instead intervened through the River of Time and Space, restoring Qianyuan's youth and enabling his breakthrough to the Immortal Emperor Realm. 618 621 623

The Heavenly River branch also endured across vast distances. It retained Founding Ancestor Cheng's statue as a symbol of family identity and faith; after the statue was damaged, the branch mobilized its reserves and later invoked an ancestral portrait in battle against the Abyss. 658 667

Organization and Culture
