Background

Xue Xing was Emperor Xue Ye's younger brother and a prominent member of the Heaven Dou imperial family. He formerly maintained influence at court through his association with Dugu Bo, the empire's only affiliated Titled Douluo at the time. Although Dugu Bo had in fact been killed by Yue Guan on Qian Daoliu's orders, Xue Xing did not know the truth. After Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan disappeared, Xue Xing promoted the claim that Dugu Bo had merely fled and would eventually return, attempting to preserve his own political standing. As the years passed without Dugu Bo's return, Xue Xing privately came to believe he was dead. Xue Xing also supported Xue Beng as a potential successor to Xue Ye. 10 23 114

When intelligence regarding Qian Renxue and Tai Yi reached Heaven Dou, Xue Xing advocated eliminating the two Spirit Hall prodigies before they could threaten the empire. He supported seeking assistance from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, since Heaven Dou possessed no Titled Douluo of its own. 22 23

He consistently opposed the policies advocated by the impostor Xue Qinghe, later revealed as Spirit Hall agent Guang Tian. When Xue Qinghe sought to commit the empire's elite forces to an ambush against Qian Renxue and Tai Yi, Xue Xing warned that exhausting Heaven Dou's forces would leave it vulnerable to Star Luo and its subordinate states. 26

Personality

Xue Xing was a committed Heaven Dou loyalist who prioritized the empire's survival over personal safety. He openly criticized Xue Qinghe's reckless military decisions and remained one of the few court figures willing to oppose the future emperor. 26 51

His loyalty became increasingly desperate as Spirit Hall dismantled Heaven Dou's allies and military strength. Although he distrusted Guang Tian, he accepted command of the imperial army after being convinced that the emperor trusted him and that both men were bound to Heaven Dou's fate. 114

This desperation ultimately drove him to sanction atrocities and cultivate forbidden power. He supplied the Blood Demon Cult with people affiliated with Spirit Hall in exchange for intelligence and assistance, believing any sacrifice was acceptable if it preserved the empire. 124

Despite using the evil method, Xue Xing understood the danger it posed to the continent. He limited its distribution to senior officers and later killed the commanders he had empowered, both to absorb their power and to prevent their open slaughter of soldiers from causing the method to spread further. 136

Call to Eliminate Spirit Hall's Prodigies

After receiving intelligence on Qian Renxue and Tai Yi's extraordinary talents, Xue Xing urged Xue Ye to eliminate them before they could mature into a threat to Heaven Dou. He supported approaching the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect for help, recognizing that the empire lacked a Titled Douluo capable of confronting Spirit Hall's protectors. 22 23

Opposition to the Ambush

When the Heaven Dou court received reports about Qian Renxue and Tai Yi's journey, Xue Xing opposed committing the empire's strongest forces to an anti–Spirit Hall alliance. He correctly warned that a failed operation could ruin the already weakened empire. His intervention produced a compromise: only four of the six royal Soul Douluo worshippers would join the operation, while Duke Qin and General Lin remained at court. 26

His warning proved justified when the ambush failed, costing Heaven Dou four Soul Douluo retainers and more than a dozen Soul Saints. Xue Xing publicly blamed Xue Qinghe for bringing the empire to ruin. 51

Xue Xing subsequently tried to oppose Xue Qinghe's proposal to cede a province to Spirit Hall as reparations, but fell silent when Xue Ye made clear that he supported it. 52

Command of the Heaven Dou Army

After Xue Ye's death, Xue Xing continued assisting the imperial court despite his disdain for Xue Qinghe. 102 When Tai Yi's coronation as pope approached, Xue Xing argued that openly appeasing Spirit Hall could invite further territorial demands. He later accepted the proposed alliance with Star Luo despite its demand that Heaven Dou pay most of the war expenses, recognizing that Star Luo possessed the Titled Douluo and military strength Heaven Dou lacked. 112 113 Guang Tian then exploited Xue Xing's loyalty by appointing him overall commander in the alliance with Star Luo, intending for Xue Xing and other hardliners to die in the coming conflict. 114

Believing he had been entrusted with Heaven Dou's future, Xue Xing accepted the command and sought permission to place his own followers in key military positions. Guang Tian agreed because it would gather the empire's hardliners in one place. Xue Xing believed he had been sent out with eighty percent of Heaven Dou's army and remained unaware that Guang Tian had supplied Spirit Hall with the allied forces' deployment information. 114 130 136

Alliance with the Blood Demon Cult

To gain leverage against Spirit Hall, Xue Xing contacted the Blood Demon Cult through an intermediary. He promised young boys, girls, and soul masters—particularly Heaven Dou residents close to Spirit Hall—in exchange for the cult acting as informants and insiders. 124

Bloodlust disclosed the arrangement to Tai Yi before being executed, confirming Xue Xing's involvement with the Evil Soul Master organization. 125

Evil Cultivation and Defeat

Xue Xing armed senior commanders with Bibi Dong's evil method, allowing them to rapidly become Evil Soul Masters. As the method spread through his army, officers began consuming soldiers and civilians to cultivate. 132 134

When Tai Yi advanced toward his hidden camp, Xue Xing learned of the attacks through spies he had stationed in Spirit City. He sought Star Luo's help, but its forces were occupied by Spirit Hall's worshippers. Xue Xing then ordered Duke Qin, General Lin, and two Grand Pontiffs to delay the attackers while he consumed the commanders under his control. This raised him to level 97, but his camp was discovered before he could complete his plans. 134 135

Xue Xing attempted to defeat or escape Tai Yi's group, first facing Zi Ji and Xiao Bai, then being surrounded by the Ice Empress and Snow Empress as well. His secret art briefly raised him to level 98, but it failed to break the encirclement. 136

After the secret art exhausted him, Xue Xing tried to bargain for Heaven Dou's survival in exchange for identifying the source of his method. When Tai Yi refused, he asked who had revealed the location of his hidden camp, still never suspecting Xue Qinghe. Xue Xing revealed that Bibi Dong had given him the evil method. Tai Yi then informed him that Emperor Xue Qinghe was actually Guang Tian, a Spirit Hall spy responsible for Heaven Dou's collapse, before killing him. 137

Posthumous Impact

Tai Yi suppressed knowledge of Xue Xing's rapid rise, fearing that widespread awareness of an evil method capable of raising a sub–Soul Sage cultivator to Super Douluo within months would tempt Soul Masters across the continent. The remaining loyal soldiers at Xue Xing's camp were consequently massacred, and the camp was burned to erase evidence. Soldiers who had fled before witnessing Xue Xing's transformation were instead offered the chance to join Spirit Hall. 138

Guang Tian later used Xue Xing's Evil Soul Master army as justification for Heaven Dou's abdication to Spirit Hall. The resulting edict blamed Xue Xing and his followers for persecuting the empire's people, enabling the formal dissolution of the Heaven Dou Empire and the founding of the Spirit Hall Empire. It also falsely attributed Guang Tian's tax increases to Xue Xing's military spending and claimed that Xue Xing had intended to seize the throne. 140

Xue Xing's cultivation method continued to affect later events when Blood One used his advancement as an example to tempt Star Luo Emperor Dai Feng into accepting the same technique. Dai Feng subsequently acknowledged that he, the empress, and trusted ministers were using blood cultivation to prepare for war with Spirit Hall. 143 147
