Appearance
Tai Yi is described as nearly two meters tall and exceptionally handsome. His appearance is paired with an imposing, imperial bearing intensified by the awakened origin of Donghuang Taiyi, causing ordinary people to instinctively lower their heads or kneel before him 127 128.
As Pope, he wears distinctive black ceremonial robes embroidered with a golden Three-Legged Golden Crow and crimson Sun True Fire. He also bears the Purple-Gold Nine-Curved Crown and carries the Papal Scepter as symbols of his authority 127 129.
Personality
Ambitious: Tai Yi consistently demonstrates a hunger for power and influence. He seeks to obtain his seventh soul ring and prevent Tang San from acquiring his mother’s soul bone, and later reveals a grand vision of unifying the Douluo Continent and creating a new god position through the faith of all living beings 20 76. This ambition drives his long-term planning and willingness to pursue godhood. After becoming Pope, he openly declares his intention to make Spirit Hall the continent's sole holy land and ultimately establish a Heavenly Court spanning the Douluo Continent and God Realm 129 141.
Strategic and Calculating: Tai Yi is a careful planner who thinks several steps ahead. He investigates Tang San’s social connections through Su Yuntao, uses the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to gain power, and devises a plan to have his allies consume Immortal Herbs so they can ascend to the God Realm together 9 30 77. He also uses Leng Qianji's life as leverage to secure the Leng Clan's cooperation and intends to eliminate Tang San and the hostile sects before they can become greater threats 41 62 95 96. During the Star Luo campaign, he preserves Zhu Zhuyun and Zhu Zhuchuan as political assets to stabilize the empire after its eventual annexation, rather than simply eliminating them 160.
Ruthless and Determined: When pursuing his goals, Tai Yi shows no hesitation or mercy. He actively hunts down Tang San, deflecting hidden weapons and attacking with lethal intent, and he offers the Snow Empress and Ice Empress a stark choice—sacrifice themselves to him or face fatal lightning tribulations 41 65. He thoroughly eliminates A Yin to deny Tang San her soul bone and refuses to continue indulging Hu Liena, Xie Yue, and Yan after their repeated hostility 33 80. This determination is also evident in his resolve to enter the poisonous miasma of the Sunset Forest against warnings 9. He later eliminates Evil Soul Master officers without exception and uses Dai Yu's children to force her to reveal the location of Blood One 134 162.
Playful and Affectionate: Despite his ruthless ambition, Tai Yi maintains a warm, teasing relationship with Qian Renxue. He playfully jokes about their future marriage during his spirit awakening, and they share sibling-like banter throughout their training years 1 15. This lighthearted side coexists with his more serious traits. He reassures Qian Renxue after returning from the Far North, promising to take her with him on future lengthy journeys 78.
Responsible and Loyal: Tai Yi takes responsibility for his companions and allies. He considers the needs of the Snow Empress and Xiao Bai, offering to take the Ice Bear King as a mount to the God Realm so the empress can be at ease, and he plans to help the Worship Hall elders evolve their martial souls 70 77. He fulfills his promise to help Leng Qianqiu by evolving her martial soul, protects Far North City in exchange for her service, and forges divine artifacts for Qian Renxue and his soul-beast companions 72 74 96. His loyalty extends to Qian Daoliu, whom he trusts and respects deeply. He also shares Life Gold with the Worship Hall elders to restore their bodies and extend their future potential 121 122.
Pragmatic Toward Civilians: Tai Yi considers the human cost of political upheaval, even while pursuing conquest. He rejects Xue Xing's demand to preserve the failing Heaven Dou Empire on the grounds that its continued existence would bring endless war to its civilians, and he offers surrendered soldiers the choice of returning home or serving Spirit Hall 134 137.
Abilities and Skills
Spirits
Tai Yi possesses twin martial souls, a rarity on the Douluo Continent. His primary martial soul is the Sun God Bird, also known as the Three-Legged Golden Crow, a legendary beast of immense power. This martial soul is so formidable that it can simultaneously carry two separate godhoods, allowing Tai Yi to inherit the divine power of both the God of Destruction and the Goddess of Life 2. His second martial soul is the Donghuang Bell (also called the Chaos Bell), a legendary bell-type spirit of equally profound origin 1. The combination of these two spirits grants Tai Yi an extraordinary foundation, with an innate spirit power of level twenty at awakening 1.
Tai Yi's martial souls originated from the one ten-thousandth portion of Demon Emperor Donghuang Taiyi's origin that he absorbed upon arriving in the Douluo Continent. This origin began stirring after he reached level 60 and fully awakened once he attained level 70, further enhancing his Three-Legged Golden Crow martial soul and automatically condensing a golden-red soul ring 59 69.
Following the awakening, Tai Yi can transform through the origin into a Three-Legged Golden Crow, command the fires of heaven, and wield Golden Crow Great Sun True Fire. He is immune to ordinary flames, can burn souls with his true fire, and may draw upon the power of the Sun Star while airborne 69. The awakening also grants him an innate emperor's pressure that can make soul beasts submit 76.
The Donghuang Bell can house sacrificed soul beasts as physical combatants while preserving their memories and original strength. Their combat consumes Tai Yi's soul power, which motivated him to cultivate a second soul core to sustain his growing force 70 120.
Soul Rings
Tai Yi’s soul rings are notable for their age and origin, reflecting his extraordinary potential and divine blessings. His first two rings were both thousand-year rings: a 1,500-year Holy Radiance Sky Roc and a 3,000-year Sun God Bird, absorbed with the assistance of his elders 3. Shortly thereafter, he absorbed two more thousand-year rings from Spirit Hall’s Elder Palace, further boosting his power 4. His third soul ring was formed from the remnant power of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings, god-level beings whose skeletons he discovered at the bottom of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. With the help of the God of Destruction, this ring condensed from the essence of the dragon kings, granting Tai Yi three soul skills and elevating his spirit power to level 40 14 15. The ring grows in age alongside his spirit power and is intended to evolve into a god-level ring when he becomes a god 15.
Over the following eight years of training, his spirit power reached level 65, and he condensed a soul core, though his cultivation rate slowed due to the pure attributes of his martial soul 19. By that point, his sixth soul ring had reached 80,000 years of age, prompting him to seek a hundred-thousand-year seventh ring 20. Later, by absorbing the sacrifices of the Ice Empress, Snow Empress, and Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, his soul power surged to level 75, fully awakening his divine origin and initiating his God Trials 69 76. The awakening automatically condensed a golden-red seventh soul ring for his Three-Legged Golden Crow martial soul 69.
Tai Yi later accepted the sacrifices of Bear Lord, Scarlet King, Myriad Demon King, Bi Ji, and Di Tian in the Star Dou Forest. He turned the five fierce beasts into martial-spirit manifestations through the Donghuang Bell, allowing them to retain their consciousness and strength while fighting for him 120. After completing the Second God Trial, he absorbed a God-Bestowed Soul Ring that reached an age of 350,000 years and raised his soul power to level 88 120.
At his coronation, Tai Yi displayed sixteen soul rings, eleven of which were hundred-thousand-year-or-higher scarlet rings, to demonstrate the overwhelming strength of Spirit Hall's new Pope 129.
Soul Skills
The following table lists the soul skills Tai Yi has gained from his spirit rings, as known from his early absorption and third ring.
| Skill Name | Description | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Holy Light Illumination | Erupts with holy light that restores physical wounds and spirit power within its range; at sufficient strength, it can purge ailments. | Support / Restoration |
| Solar Flare | Turns Tai Yi into a miniature sun, amplifying his attacks and weakening enemies within its range through extreme heat. | Offensive / Enhancement |
| Golden Crow Flame Devouring Strike | A single-target Extreme Fire offensive skill carrying suppression derived from the Fire Dragon King. | Offensive (Extreme Fire) |
| Golden Crow Ice Breaking Strike | A single-target Extreme Ice offensive skill carrying suppression derived from the Ice Dragon King. | Offensive (Extreme Ice) |
| Extreme Cold Prairie Fire | A domain that merges extreme cold and scorching heat, recreating and surpassing the effects of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. | Domain (Dual Element) |
| Great Sun Golden Crow Avatar | An enhanced martial soul avatar obtained when Tai Yi's Donghuang Taiyi origin fully awakened at level 70. | Avatar / Divine |
| Truth-Shattering Sun Eye | A self-created soul skill modeled after Donghuang Taiyi's Truth-Shattering Sun Eye and developed using intense midday sunlight; completing it fulfilled Tai Yi's First God Trial. | Self-Created / Offensive |
| Soul Vibration | A Donghuang Bell skill that releases a bell chime to shock the souls of enemies, severely incapacitating weaker targets. | Offensive / Spiritual |
| Donghuang Bathing Melody | A single-target healing skill in which the bell releases life force to heal external wounds, restore soul power, detoxify poison, and dispel negative effects. | Support / Healing |
| Myriad Life Bell Chime | A large-scale bell-chime skill that heals internal injuries, restores allies' soul power, and blocks spiritual attacks within its range. | Support / Healing / Defense |
| Golden Crow Sun-Piercing Divine Light | A large-scale offensive skill of the Three-Legged Golden Crow that engulfs enemies in divine solar light. | Offensive / Divine Fire |
The first five skills came from Tai Yi’s initial three soul rings; the third ring alone provided three separate skills 4 15. The Great Sun Golden Crow Avatar is tied to the golden-red ring condensed by his awakened origin, while Truth-Shattering Sun Eye was created to complete his First God Trial 69 79 84 95. Soul Vibration and Myriad Life Bell Chime are Donghuang Bell skills used during the Star Luo campaign, while Donghuang Bathing Melody came from Bi Ji's sacrifice 99 120 170.
Soul Bones
Tai Yi has absorbed two exceptionally powerful soul bones, both god-level artifacts originating from the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings. He successfully retrieved and absorbed the Ice Dragon King’s left arm bone and the Fire Dragon King’s right arm bone simultaneously from the cavern beneath the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. This process was highly dangerous, requiring the intervention of the God of Destruction to seal the bones’ immense power and form a third spirit ring concurrently. The absorption of these two bones significantly enhanced Tai Yi’s strength and attributes 14.
The Fire Dragon King right arm bone grants Dragon King Break, which manifests a Fire Dragon King for Tai Yi's command, and the Extreme Heat Domain, an ultimate-fire domain in which fire dragons attack 17. The Ice Dragon King left arm bone similarly grants Dragon King Break and the Extreme Cold Domain, an ultimate-ice domain accompanied by attacking ice dragons 17. Together with Extreme Cold Prairie Fire, these abilities give Tai Yi three domain-type skills 15 17.
He also obtained high-age soul bones from other sources, which he later used as materials for divine artifacts during his God Trials 69 96. He forged Qian Renxue's suitable hundred-thousand-year soul bone into an Angel Divine Sword and also forged divine artifacts for the Snow Empress, Ice Empress, and Sky Dream Ice Silkworm 96.
After reaching level 88 and attaining a second soul core, Tai Yi refined six additional divine artifacts from the soul bones of Di Tian, Zi Ji, Bi Ji, Myriad Demon King, Scarlet King, Bear Lord, and Demon Spirit. These artifacts were tailored to their users' preferred weapons, including Di Tian's spear and Bi Ji's staff 123.
The divine artifacts Tai Yi currently forges on the Douluo Continent are incomplete, capable of exerting only one or two tenths of a true divine artifact's full power until he becomes a god. Even so, they are extraordinarily powerful by continental standards 96.
Divine Inheritance
Tai Yi received a dual divine inheritance from both the God of Destruction and the Goddess of Life. This inheritance was possible because his Three-Legged Golden Crow martial soul possesses the capability to bear two godhoods simultaneously, symbolizing the sun’s dual nature of destruction and life 2. As a sign of their favor, the gods left a protective mark on Tai Yi’s forehead, capable of saving him three times from fatal harm 2.
Through this inheritance, Tai Yi began his God Trials, the first of which required him to create a soul skill. The rewards for this trial included divine artifact forging methods and an increase of five thousand years to the age of all his soul rings 69. Upon reaching level 70 and fully awakening his Donghuang Taiyi origin, Tai Yi gained several divine abilities: the Great Sun Golden Crow Avatar, Golden Crow Rainbow Transformation Technique, Ten Thousand Demons Submission, and Lord of the Celestial Stars 69. His divine status also allowed him to command powerful soul beasts, such as the Snow Empress and Ice Empress, and to offer them resurrection as divine beasts in the God Realm 65 74 76.
Tai Yi completed his First God Trial after creating the Truth-Shattering Sun Eye. He received the promised increase to his soul-ring ages and divine-artifact forging techniques, while his Second God Trial requires him to assemble a force of at least ten members 95. His long-term vision involves unifying the Douluo Continent, creating a new god position through the faith of all living beings, and ultimately establishing a Heavenly Court in the God Realm 76 77.
Tai Yi later completed the Second God Trial by establishing a force of loyal subordinates and accepting the sacrifices of powerful fierce beasts. Its rewards included increased affinity with the God of Destruction and Goddess of Life, as well as a God-Bestowed Soul Ring 115 120. He used the reward ring to reach level 88, while his second soul core gave him a lasting yin-yang balance and sufficient reserves to support his Donghuang Bell's demon marshals 120.

Relationships
Qian Renxue: Love interest and close companion. Their relationship is marked by deep affection and mutual support, from playful interactions as children to a mature partnership in cultivation and combat. Tai Yi addresses her as "Xue'er" and persists in persuading her to return to Spirit City, considering her his future wife 8 7 8. They train together under the Elder Palace for eight years and share secrets, including divine guidance from the God of Destruction 19 21. In battles, they exchange a glance and decide to fight side by side 35. Tai Yi later forges her a divine artifact, the Angel Divine Sword, from a hundred-thousand-year soul bone, and she supports his campaign against the Clear Sky Sect 95 96. They subsequently accept fierce-beast sacrifices together in the Star Dou Forest and stand side by side during the campaign against Star Luo 120 170.
Qian Daoliu: Grandfather and mentor. Qian Daoliu shows immense trust in Tai Yi, following his intuition to find the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and supporting his decisions, such as leaving Spirit City for soul rings 9 20. He entrusts Qian Renxue's safety to Tai Yi, demonstrating confidence in his abilities and character 34. Qian Daoliu also acts as a protector, secretly deploying Golden Crocodile Douluo to guard them 20. He pledges Spirit Hall's support to Tai Yi's plans for the Leng Clan, continental unification, and the future Heavenly Court 76 77. Qian Daoliu later crowns Tai Yi as Pope and supports his campaigns against the empires and Evil Soul Masters 129 141 170.
Bibi Dong: Antagonistic mother figure and enemy of the Qian family. Bibi Dong harbors deep hatred for Qian Renxue and, by extension, Tai Yi. She plots to have them eliminated by other factions, ordering Yue Guan and Gui Mei to inform hostile forces 20 21. Although she does not order Qian Renxue's execution directly, she becomes consumed with revenge after learning of Yu Xiaogang's death at Qian Renxue's hands 55. Her relationship with Tai Yi is purely hostile, seeking his elimination 20. Although Spirit Hall publicly announced that she died in Slaughter City, she remains alive there, carrying out the God Trial of the Asura God King and spreading a blood-based evil cultivation method through agents 112 141 159 160.
Yue Guan (Chrysanthemum Douluo): Ally and supporter. Yue Guan assists Tai Yi in identifying immortal herbs and joins the Elder Palace faction, showing loyalty to Qian Renxue and Tai Yi 7 16. He secretly reports Bibi Dong's orders to Qian Daoliu and later betrays Bibi Dong by intervening in the ambush outside Soto City to protect them 21 35.
Gui Mei (Ghost Douluo): Ally and supporter, paired with Yue Guan. Like Yue Guan, he joins the Elder Palace faction, demonstrates loyalty to Qian Daoliu, and helps deceive Bibi Dong 16 21. In the Soto City ambush, he freezes and slaughters enemies alongside Yue Guan, revealing his allegiance 35.
Hu Liena: Rival and enemy. Hu Liena becomes hostile and jealous upon learning of Qian Renxue's return, viewing her as a threat and a rival for power and status 17. After attempting to confront Tai Yi with Xie Yue and Yan, she is severely beaten, deepening her grudge and desire for revenge 19. Tai Yi eventually decides that he will no longer tolerate the trio's repeated hostility and intends to remove them as threats 80.
Ning Rongrong: Ally and student. Ning Rongrong stays in the Worship Hall to cultivate near Qian Renxue and Tai Yi, hoping to break the limitations of her Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda by learning from them. She makes rapid progress in their presence 55. After consuming an Immortal Herb, her Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda evolves into the Nine Treasures Glazed Pagoda; Tai Yi and Qian Renxue use this development to reinforce the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's dependence on Spirit Hall 77 79. Her loyalty contributes toward Tai Yi's Second God Trial, and she later develops a close friendship with Qian Renxue and Leng Qianqiu 115 123.
Golden Crocodile Douluo: Protector and mentor figure. Golden Crocodile protects Tai Yi and Qian Renxue secretly on orders from Qian Daoliu, and presents them with a valuable opportunity to absorb spirit rings from ten-thousand-year-old Radiant Divine Eagles 20 17. During the Soto City ambush, he fights alongside other elders to hold off the attackers 35. He later joins Qian Daoliu in defeating Dai Feng and Zhu Lingxin's Hell White Tiger Martial Soul Fusion Skill 170.
Tang San: Enemy. Tai Yi actively works to prevent Tang San from obtaining his mother's soul bone, viewing him as a significant threat due to their competing inheritances (God of Destruction vs. Sea God) 20 33. The two are on opposing sides, with Qian Renxue and Tai Yi eliminating A Yin (Tang San's mother) to thwart him 33. Tai Yi later regards Tang San and the Clear Sky Sect as threats requiring eradication and personally pursues Tang San alongside Qian Renxue and the Snow Empress during Spirit Hall's campaign against the sects 95 98. Tai Yi later confronts Tang San again in Slaughter City and employs the Donghuang Bell alongside his Golden Crow martial soul to ensure Tang San's destruction 107 108.
Leng Qianqiu: Ally and subordinate. Leng Qianqiu first protects Tai Yi from her cousin Leng Qianji in Far North City, prompting Tai Yi to take an interest in her unusual martial soul and circumstances 61. He helps her resolve the Leng Clan conflict, gives her an Immortal Herb, and evolves her Ice Snake martial soul into the Frost Saint Dragon 62 72. In exchange for her service, Tai Yi agrees to protect Far North City from soul beasts; she subsequently joins him in Martial Soul City 74 76. Her loyalty is recognized as contributing to Tai Yi's Second God Trial 115.
Snow Empress, Ice Empress, and Sky Dream Ice Silkworm: Sacrificed soul-beast companions and future divine beasts. Tai Yi offers the Snow Empress and Ice Empress a path to avoid their lightning tribulations by sacrificing themselves to him, promising to resurrect them in the God Realm 65. Together with Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, they sacrifice themselves to advance Tai Yi to level 70 and gain portions of his memories, becoming loyal to him afterward 69. Tai Yi later forges divine artifacts for all three 96. They can manifest through the Donghuang Bell with their memories and original strength intact, though their combat draws upon Tai Yi's soul power 120.
Xiao Bai (Ice Bear King): Mount and soul-beast subordinate. Xiao Bai accepts Tai Yi's offer to become his mount and travel to the God Realm, allowing him to remain with the Snow Empress 70. He obeys Tai Yi's orders to maintain peace between the Far North's powerful soul beasts and Far North City 74. He later assists Spirit Hall in combat against the Heaven Dou Empire's Evil Soul Masters 136.
Di Tian, Bi Ji, Bear Lord, Scarlet King, Myriad Demon King, Zi Ji, and Demon Spirit: Fierce-beast subordinates and members of Tai Yi's demon-marshal force. Tai Yi accepts the sacrifices of Di Tian, Bi Ji, Bear Lord, Scarlet King, and Myriad Demon King, then transforms them into Donghuang Bell martial-spirit manifestations retaining their memories and strength 120. He later refines divine artifacts from their soul bones, allowing them to wield weapons appropriate to their preferred fighting styles 123. Zi Ji and Demon Spirit are also among the fierce beasts who receive Tai Yi's support and divine artifacts 121 123.
Guang Tian: Ally and honorary brother figure. Guang Tian is Guangling Douluo's grandson and supports Tai Yi's rise within Spirit Hall. Tai Yi intends to reserve him a position in the future Heavenly Court, and Guang Tian's loyalty contributes toward the completion of the Second God Trial 115.
Zhu Zhuyun and Zhu Zhuchuan: Political captives and prospective stabilizing figures. Leng Feng delivers the siblings to Tai Yi because of their ties to Star Luo's royal family 159. After Zhu Zhuyun reveals the Star Luo Empire's corruption, Tai Yi keeps both siblings under guarded house arrest so they can be used to pacify loyalists after Star Luo's conquest 160.
Dai Yu: Enemy and source of intelligence. Dai Yu is a Star Luo Title Douluo who rose through blood-based evil arts. Tai Yi captures her through the Snow Empress, exploits her concern for her children to obtain Blood One's location, and leaves her to face the relatives of her victims 162 163.
Qian Daoliu (grandparent relationship with Qian Renxue): Grandfather figure to Qian Renxue. He expresses concern for her slow cultivation and desires her return to Spirit City, showing deep familial care 7. He reveals the truth about her father's death and entrusts her safety to Tai Yi, accepting his own sacrificial role 34.
Other Faction Leaders (Ning Fengzhi, Yu Yuanzhen, Xue Qinghe, Sword Douluo, Bone Douluo): Antagonists. These leaders from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect, and Heaven Dou Empire form an alliance to ambush and eliminate Qian Renxue and Tai Yi, viewing them as prodigious threats from Spirit Hall 24 35. Their interactions are solely hostile, resulting in a failed ambush 35. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect later relocates to Martial Soul City and accepts its dependent position under Spirit Hall after Ning Rongrong's martial soul evolves 77 79.
Background and History
Reborn into the Douluo Continent with the memories of his previous life, Donghuang Taiyi's journey began at the age of six when he underwent his spirit awakening in the Spirit Hall Elder Palace under the watchful eyes of the nine great elders, Qian Daoliu, and Qian Renxue 1. To their shock, he awakened twin martial souls—the Sun God Bird (a Three-Legged Golden Crow) and the legendary Donghuang Bell (Chaos Bell)—and his innate spirit power was tested at an unprecedented level twenty, a clear sign of divine favor 1. His martial souls originated from a one ten-thousandth share of Demon Emperor Donghuang Taiyi's origin that he had absorbed upon arriving in this world 59. Shortly after awakening, he received a dual divine inheritance from both the God of Destruction and the Goddess of Life, who left a protective mark on his forehead capable of saving him three times 2.
Guided by his grandfather Qian Daoliu, Taiyi absorbed his first soul ring, a 1,500-year Holy Radiance Sky Roc, and his second, a 3,000-year Sun God Bird, gaining contradictory yet powerful skills—Holy Light Illumination and Solar Flare—and reaching level 23 3 4. Learning of a fortuitous location from his past life's knowledge, he journeyed to the Sunset Forest with Qian Daoliu and Yue Guan, where they discovered the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well guarded by the Douluo Dugu Bo 7 9. After emerging from the well, Taiyi had absorbed two god-level spirit bones and gained a third soul ring with three skills, propelling him to level 40 as a Spirit Ancestor 15. The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well lost its extraordinary properties following his absorption of the Dragon Kings' remains 15.
Over the next eight years of intense cultivation within Spirit Hall, Taiyi reached level 65, condensed a soul core, and helped Qian Renxue begin her own path to godhood 19. During this period, the factional struggle between the Elder Palace and Bibi Dong's Pope Palace intensified; Bibi Dong, seeing Taiyi as a threat, plotted against the Qian family, and her disciples Hu Liena, Xie Yue, and Yan were severely beaten by Taiyi when they confronted him 5 19. Seeking his seventh soul ring and aiming to prevent Tang San from obtaining his mother's soul bone, Taiyi departed Spirit City with Qian Renxue, guarded secretly by Golden Crocodile Douluo, while Bibi Dong schemed to have them eliminated by rival factions 20.
Tai Yi investigated Tang San through Su Yuntao in Notting City, learned more about Tang San's companions and Yu Xiaogang, and promoted Su Yuntao to branch head after testing his loyalty 27 28 30. In Holy Soul Village, Tai Yi and Qian Renxue discovered A Yin's concealed Blue Silver Grass incarnation and soul bone. Qian Renxue destroyed A Yin, while Tai Yi ensured her complete elimination in order to deny Tang San the opportunity 32 33. This journey brought him into conflict with Tang Hao, who intervened to protect his son Tang San, though the Spirit Hall team led by Qian Daoliu ultimately forced a retreat 36. Tai Yi later personally pursued Tang San and Yu Xiaogang, easily countering Tang San's hidden weapons before Flender and Zhao Wuji enabled their escape 41.
Taiyi then traveled to the Far North after breaking through to level 66 and sensing his Donghuang Taiyi origin stirring within him 59. There, he gained the cooperation of Leng Qianqiu and the Leng Clan by resolving Leng Qianji's condition, evolved Leng Qianqiu's Ice Snake into a Frost Saint Dragon using an Immortal Herb, and secured her service to Spirit Hall 62 72. He also negotiated the sacrifices of the Snow Empress, Ice Empress, and Sky Dream Ice Silkworm. Their sacrifices elevated him to level 75, fully awakened his ancient origin, gave him a golden-red soul ring and several divine abilities, and began the Nine Trials of Destruction and Life 69 76. He accepted the Ice Bear King Xiao Bai as a mount and ordered the Far North's soul beasts to maintain peace with Far North City 70 74.
Returning to Spirit City at level 75, Taiyi revealed to Qian Daoliu that he had initiated his God Trials—aided by the sacrifice of the Snow Empress, Ice Empress, and Sky Dream Ice Silkworm for his future divine beasts—and laid out his grand vision of unifying the Douluo Continent and creating a new god position through the faith of all living beings, a plan that Qian Daoliu pledged to support 76. He then arranged for the Worship Hall elders and Ning Rongrong to consume Immortal Herbs so their martial souls could evolve and they could potentially ascend with him to the God Realm 77. Tai Yi created the Truth-Shattering Sun Eye to complete his First God Trial, gaining divine-artifact forging techniques and a Second God Trial requiring the assembly of a force of at least ten members 79 95. Using high-age soul bones, he forged divine artifacts for Qian Renxue and his soul-beast companions before joining the campaign to destroy the Clear Sky Sect and Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect, personally pursuing the fleeing Tang San 96 98.
Following the events in Slaughter City, Spirit Hall announced Bibi Dong's death and named Tai Yi, then only fifteen years old and level 75, as its next Pope 112. Seeking to strengthen himself before his coronation, Tai Yi traveled with Qian Renxue to the Star Dou Forest and accepted the sacrifices of five fierce beasts: Bear Lord, Scarlet King, Myriad Demon King, Bi Ji, and Di Tian 120. Their immense power allowed him to condense a second soul core, complete the Second God Trial, and absorb a 350,000-year God-Bestowed Soul Ring, raising him to level 88 120.
Tai Yi subsequently forged divine artifacts for his new fierce-beast subordinates and formally became Pope of Spirit Hall. At his coronation, he revealed sixteen soul rings, including eleven hundred-thousand-year-or-higher rings, intimidating all observing factions and declaring his determination to turn Spirit Hall into the continent's sole holy land 123 129. He then led the Spirit Hall Empire's expansion, reclaimed the five territories formerly granted to Heaven Dou, and prepared for the annexation of Star Luo 141.
As the Spirit Hall Empire expanded, Tai Yi uncovered the widespread use of blood-based evil arts among Heaven Dou and Star Luo's military and political leaders. He exterminated active Evil Soul Masters, contained Bibi Dong within Slaughter City, and gathered intelligence on the agents who spread her cultivation method 134 141 159 162. During the Star Luo campaign, he employed both martial soul avatars to devastate the enemy army, using the Donghuang Bell to damage enemy souls and heal Spirit Hall's forces while Qian Daoliu and Golden Crocodile defeated the empire's Ultimate Douluos 170.
