Background / History

Qian Daoliu is Qian Xunji’s father and a leading figure of Spirit Hall. Before Qian Xunji’s departure from Spirit City, he summons him to the Offering Hall and attempts to keep him in the Pope Palace handling administrative work. Qian Xunji refuses to meet him at first and later treats him with open impatience. 1 2

He introduces the six-year-old Bibi Dong—described as a twin-martial-soul genius with innate full soul power—to Qian Xunji, intending for his son to accept her as a disciple. After Qian Xunji rejects her, Qian Daoliu decides to raise her himself, partly because her potential could threaten the Qian family’s standing. 2

Qian Daoliu remains friends with Tang Chen during this period. Following Tang Chen’s death at Qian Xunji’s hands, he pursues Qian Xunji, apparently intending to reclaim Tang Chen’s body for a proper burial. 30 31

After Qian Xunji spends three years away in Slaughter City, Qian Daoliu returns to the Pope Palace and is overwhelmed by the Pope’s administrative workload. His resentment becomes a source of sustenance for the Rakshasa God’s divine sense, which resides in his spiritual sea. He nevertheless indulges Bibi Dong, immediately shifting from despair to a warm demeanor when she visits. 32

The Rakshasa God’s divine sense secretly exploits Qian Daoliu’s unconditional indulgence of Bibi Dong, amplifying his spoiling of her and manipulating the circumstances behind the “Secret Room Douluo” scandal. 60 65 66

By the time Qian Xunji returns as the inheritor of the Asura God position, Qian Daoliu’s treatment of Bibi Dong has alienated other Spirit Hall figures. He attempts to make Qian Xunji take responsibility for Bibi Dong by proposing marriage, but Qian Xunji vehemently refuses and punishes him with Mental Psychokinesis. 60 64

Later, Qian Daoliu becomes increasingly isolated from his children and former Elder Hall associates, many of whom relocate to Qian Xunji’s power on another continent. He regrets his past actions and describes himself as effectively an empty-nester. 102

The Rakshasa God subsequently changes his faith, making him the High Priest of the Rakshasa God. This conversion is intended to make him a suitable sacrifice for Rakshasa Xue’s divine trials. Rakshasa Xue later devours his Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul as her first Rakshasa God Trial. 102 140

Personality

Qian Daoliu is paternalistic and controlling toward Qian Xunji, frequently lecturing him about work, marriage, and producing heirs. He wants Qian Xunji to remain in the Pope Palace, both to manage Spirit Hall’s affairs and to provide him with grandchildren. 2 18

He is intensely indulgent toward Bibi Dong. His protection and spoiling of her persist despite the scandal and resentment her conduct causes within Martial Soul Hall, a tendency later revealed to have been exacerbated by the Rakshasa God’s manipulation. 2 32 62 66

He is also portrayed as stubborn and politically shortsighted. Qian Xunji regards him as someone whose decisions hold Spirit Hall back, while Golden Crocodile Douluo and other members distance themselves from him following the Bibi Dong crisis. 31 60 64

In his later years, Qian Daoliu becomes regretful and lonely. He recognizes that his harsh, suppressive treatment of Qian Xunji and excessive indulgence of Bibi Dong damaged both relationships. 102
