Background / History

Tang San is born in Nuoding City after Tang Hao—whose body had been transformed into that of a woman—gives birth to him. His biological father is Tang Shan, an infamous pirate who sexually assaulted Tang Hao; Tang Xiao prevented Tang Hao from aborting the pregnancy. Tang San is therefore treated as the Tang family’s sole male successor despite Tang Hao’s hatred for the blood of Tang Shan. His birth occurs while the Tang family is under attack from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, whose forces seek to seize Tang Yuehua and the infant Tang San. 96 97 160 161

Although an infant, Tang San retains memories of a previous life. A system appraisal identifies him as the reincarnated Sea God King, able to understand events clearly from birth. He struggles with his rebirth, his unfamiliar family circumstances, and the altered states of people he once knew. During Bibi Dong’s attempt to capture him, he develops intense hatred for the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and resolves to destroy both it and Spirit Hall. 97 98

Tang San’s intervention in Xiao Wu’s public humiliation leads to his arrest and imprisonment in Suotuo City. Following his descent into Fallen Soul Mastery, Tang San confronts Qian Xunji after the latter descends as an Asura God King. Tang San later continues to endure severe humiliation and punishment at Qian Xunji’s hands. After the Clear Sky Sect’s destruction, Qian Xunji targets Tang San with Transformation Magic. A system appraisal at this time identifies Tang San as the reincarnated God King Tang with Dark Blue Silver Grass, and the magic physically feminizes him. Tang San vows to locate and punish the person responsible. 274

Tang San later considers traveling to Shrek City with Tang Ya in hopes that awakening Ah Yin within the Golden Ancient Tree could allow his Blue Silver Grass martial soul to evolve into a Blue Silver Emperor. 276

Later Resistance Against Qian Xunji

Tang San later seeks a means to defeat Qian Xunji before his complete ascent to godhood. To protect his wife and Tang Wutong, he considers using the Emperor Auspicious Beast to draw out Di Tian and relies on the Holy Tang Treasure Record for possible external methods of strengthening himself. 314

Still unable to match Qian Xunji directly, Tang San uses Dark Blue Silver Grass to devour the life force of plants and accelerate his cultivation. He intends to gain enough power to defeat the Rakshasa Evil God and rescue Xiao Wu’s suffering soul. 322

Tang San remains a target of Qian Xunji’s humiliation and coercion, but refuses to submit to demands that would strip him of his identity and dignity. 333

Continued Coercion by Qian Xunji

Qian Xunji later attempts to force Tang San to reveal the history of the Bashu Tang Sect and the origins of Tang Sect technology. Tang San refuses, resulting in further punishment and humiliation. 340

When Qian Xunji confronts him about the Clear Sky Sect’s past, Tang San rejects the principle that the strong are entitled to do whatever they please to the weak, while continuing to rationalize his own actions as punishment deserved by the sect. 351

In a later period as the God King Tang, Tang San becomes concerned when he cannot contact Old Tang, the divine consciousness residing within Tang Wulin. The failure of Old Tang to reach Ah Yin through the Golden Ancient Tree suggests that the timeline and Tang San’s planned arrangements on the Douluo Plane have diverged substantially from his expectations. 428
