Background & History

Slaughter City served as an inheritance ground for both the Asura God and Rakshasa God. After Qian Xunji rejected the Rakshasa God Trial, Asura regarded his refusal to be tempted by another god position as commendable and began assessing him as a possible successor. 7 9

From the Asura God Temple, Asura observed Qian Xunji’s passage through Hell Road and compared him with Tang Chen, the other possessor of the God of Slaughter Domain. Although Qian possessed a million-year soul ring, Asura initially favored Tang Chen for his complete soul-bone set, self-created techniques, and experience founding and managing the Clear Sky Sect—qualities Asura considered useful for a future Law Enforcement God. 9

When Qian Xunji returned to Slaughter City seeking divine inheritance, Asura nevertheless initiated the Asura God Trial. His original plan was to use Qian’s first trial to force a confrontation with Tang Chen, reveal the existence of the inheritance to Tang Chen, and make both Limit Douluos compete for the position. His underlying priority was finding any successor capable of relieving him of his duties. 10

Qian instead challenged Bo Saixi, disrupting Asura’s intended arrangement but completing the first trial. As Qian advanced through the trials at an exceptional pace, Asura became increasingly dissatisfied with his preference for ambushes, long-range sword control, and overwhelming attacks. He designed the fourth trial specifically to compel Qian into a direct duel with Tang Chen under restrictions on spiritual power and spirit skills. 12 13 16 22

Qian completed the fourth trial after killing Tang Chen, then returned to Slaughter City to begin the fifth trial. His completion speed was so extraordinary that the Rakshasa God expected him to inherit the Asura God Position soon and fled Slaughter City rather than await his arrival. 30 31

Qian’s demonstration of Sword Separating the World for the sixth trial changed Asura’s assessment. He praised the technique’s rapidly growing, world-destroying potential and resolved to pass his godhood to Qian, even arranging later trials around Sea God Poseidon’s territory. 33

After Qian completed the seventh trial by obtaining the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King’s spirit ring and spirit bone, Asura further acknowledged his courage in confronting a stronger opponent head-on. During the eighth trial, he explained that inheriting the Asura God Position properly required the unification of divine power, a divine body, and divine consciousness at level 100. 36 38

The Five Great God Kings unanimously approved Qian Xunji as Asura’s successor. When Qian’s affinity had reached only 80%, Asura descended personally and attempted to force the Asura God Position core into him; the core instead flew to Qian willingly, raising his affinity to 100% without rejection. After verifying the inheritance for three days, Asura gave Qian four Level 2 God Position cores, left cultivation resources, and departed the God Realm. 45 59

Qian later established himself as the second-generation Asura God and eventually reached the level of an Asura God King. Before attempting to ascend to the God Realm a century after his inheritance, he left behind the remodeled Slaughter City and its Asura God Trial as a future inheritance ground. 63 252 255

Asura is impatient to the point of desperation about retirement. He cast a wide net for successors, manipulated potential candidates into competition, and ultimately forced the Asura God Position upon Qian Xunji rather than wait for the remaining trials to conclude normally. 10 59

He values domineering, head-on combat and believes a God King should defeat opponents openly. Qian’s stealth attacks and remote sword techniques repeatedly irritated him, despite Asura acknowledging their effectiveness. 16 22

Qian’s conduct in the seventh trial partially improved Asura’s opinion of his combat character. Although he recognized that Qian was ordinarily inclined toward ambushes and long-range attacks, he was impressed that Qian drew his sword against an opponent stronger than himself without retreating. 36 37

Asura is competitive and possessive of promising successors. When the Destruction God King suggested Qian Xunji was better suited to inherit the Destruction God Position, Asura immediately threatened the discussion with his Asura God Sword. 45
