Background and Standing

Shrek Academy is an independent, self-described neutral institution with a ten-thousand-year history. It is widely regarded as the holy land of soul masters and has held the continent's leading-academy reputation for millennia, including a long championship streak in the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament. 9 15 183

Its leadership operates from the Sea God Pavilion. Mu En, the Dragon God Douluo, serves as Pavilion Master, while Xuan Zi, Yan Shaozhe, and other elders participate in major academy decisions. 11 16 45

The academy’s prestige is increasingly challenged by the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Master Academy, the Body Sect, and the Star Dragon Sanctuary. Mu En acknowledges that the emergence of Star Dragon Sanctuary prodigies could endanger Shrek’s status as the continent’s foremost academy. 46

Policies and Public Controversies

Neutrality and the Tang Sect

Shrek Academy maintains that it is neutral and does not intervene in every student’s private conflict. Mu En explains that simply destroying the Iron Blood Sect for Tang Ya would not solve the Tang Sect’s inability to adapt to the era of soul guidance technology. 8

This stance drew criticism because of the historic connection between Shrek Academy and the Tang Sect. Some members of the public argued that the academy owed the declining sect support; others defended Shrek’s neutrality. 8

Tang Ya Incident

After Tang Ya lost control of her enhanced Blue Silver Grass, black vines spread through the Outer Court plaza and more than a dozen students collapsed. The academy placed her under treatment and publicly pledged that she would not endanger anyone. 9

The response intensified public backlash. Shrek’s Inspectorate ordinarily kills Evil Soul Masters on sight, while Tang Ya’s uncontrolled rampage reportedly killed several people; victims’ families demanded accountability. Mu En ordered compensation for the affected families and stated that the academy could not evade responsibility. 10

Iron Blood Sect Massacre

Bei Bei and Tang Ya destroyed the Iron Blood Sect inside the Heaven Dou Empire, killing Sect Master Tie Li, his son, and the sect’s members. The incident triggered continent-wide outrage and raised questions over Shrek’s claimed neutrality. 17 18

Mu En ordered Xuan Zi to retrieve the pair, declaring that Shrek Academy students would not be bullied by outsiders. This placed the academy in direct tension with the Heaven Dou Empire and the Body Sect, which sought to detain Tang Ya as an Evil Soul Master. 17 18 20

Separation from Tang San

Following revelations concerning Tang San’s actions in the lower realms, the Sea God Pavilion elders resolved to distance Shrek Academy from him. Yan Shaozhe proposed revoking Tang San’s honorary-alumnus status, removing him from the academy registry, and issuing a declaration that Shrek remained neutral and prioritized the welfare of its people. 45

Wang Yan initially directs Ma Xiaotao and Dai Yueheng—the team’s strongest members—to conceal their strength during the preliminary and elimination rounds. Reserve members, including Xu Sanshi and Bei Bei, welcome the opportunity to take the field. 5
