Background / History

As the current head of the Phoenix Family, Leng Yaozhu entered its sealed ancestral ground alone to awaken the ancestor Leng Hanyuan in accordance with the family’s ancestral teachings. Initially doubtful that he could truly have survived ten thousand years, she immediately acknowledged him as her ancestor after his awakening and display of overwhelming power. 1

Before Leng Hanyuan’s return, she had led the Phoenix Family into the position of the Spirit Transmission Pagoda’s second-ranked family, behind the Qiangu Family. Her authority within the organization was substantial: she was known for directly opposing Pagoda Master Qiangu Dongfeng in meetings and for keeping the Phoenix Family’s interests independent from his influence. 2

She publicly presented the Phoenix Family’s ancestral records and portraits to establish Leng Hanyuan’s identity, then supported his elevation into the Spirit Transmission Pagoda’s core leadership. Following his victory over Qiangu Dieting, the council created the position of Grand Elder for Leng Hanyuan, equal in status to the Pagoda Master. 5 9 12

Over the following years, Leng Yaozhu managed family and Pagoda affairs while Leng Hanyuan acted with relative freedom. She arranged resources, contacts, and eventually the recruitment of Divine Craftsman Zhen Hua, recognizing that his arrival would greatly strengthen the Phoenix Family’s political standing and future combat power. 20 29 34

During the Blood God Legion arc, she informed Leng Hanyuan of the Legion’s invitation to research the Abyss Plane. By this point, she alone within the Phoenix Family understood the scale of his long-term plans and eagerly participated in advancing them. 63

Around Leng Hanyuan, she is markedly deferential and treats him as an elder of the family despite his youthful appearance. Her reverence is rooted in both ancestral hierarchy and genuine awe at his strength; she also becomes one of his most dependable administrators. 1 2 17

She is protective of her family, particularly Leng Yulai. Even after their conflict and Yulai’s affiliation with the Holy Spirit Cult, Yaozhu worries for her sister’s safety, cares for her during captivity, and ultimately secures her a high-ranking post in the Spirit Transmission Pagoda. 66 73 89

Her longstanding obsession with Yun Ming fades after Leng Hanyuan’s awakening and is finally dispelled when Leng Hanyuan defeats Yun Ming in their spar. 36 43
