Background & History
Qiangu Dongfeng led the Qiangu Family as it tightened its control over the Spirit Transmission Pagoda. The family’s influence was checked by several older Pagoda families, foremost among them the Phoenix Family. He pursued Leng Yaozhu both out of personal affection and because winning her over could bring the Phoenix Family under his influence. 2
Leng Hanyuan’s sudden appearance beside Leng Yaozhu immediately threatened both of Dongfeng’s aims. Dongfeng confronted the pair under the pretext of questioning an outsider’s access to the Pagoda, but was overwhelmed when Leng Hanyuan’s Ice Crystal Profound Phoenix aura suppressed his Coiling Dragon martial soul. He withdrew with forced politeness after realizing their disparity. 3
Humiliated, Dongfeng destroyed items in his office before reporting the encounter to his father, Qiangu Dieting. Although he prioritized the Qiangu Family’s interests over his wounded pride in front of his father, he remained deeply alarmed by the Phoenix Family’s new quasi-god. 4
At the Spirit Transmission Pagoda’s core meeting, Dongfeng opposed Leng Hanyuan’s admission to the organization’s core layer, fearing further erosion of Qiangu Family control. Qiangu Dieting’s subsequent defeat by Leng Hanyuan—despite using Four-Word Battle Armor—forced a political compromise and weakened the family’s dominant position. 9 10
The Phoenix Family’s recruitment of Divine Craftsman Zhen Hua further angered Dongfeng, as it gave their rivals access to the key craftsman required for Four-Word Battle Armor. After Leng Hanyuan defeated Yun Ming, Dongfeng publicly congratulated him and sought an alliance, concealing his hostility behind a sincere-looking façade. 34 43
Personality
Qiangu Dongfeng is calculating, ambitious, and intensely profit-driven. He treats relationships, alliances, and even family arrangements as tools to secure the Qiangu Family’s dominance; his pursuit of Leng Yaozhu combined genuine personal interest with a plan to absorb the Phoenix Family’s influence. 2 99
He maintains a polished, hypocritical composure when politically useful, even toward people he dislikes or fears. His courtesy toward Leng Hanyuan after their clash and his congratulations after Yun Ming’s defeat were strategic responses to overwhelming strength rather than reconciliatory gestures. 3 43
His restraint has limits. Private setbacks repeatedly provoke destructive rage, including smashing his office after being humiliated and again after Zhen Hua joined the Phoenix Family. 4 34
Dongfeng is also adaptable. When direct action against Leng Hanyuan proved impractical, he abandoned that route and pursued indirect methods through his grandson and Leng Hanyuan’s disciples. 96 97 99
Abilities & Skills
Demigod-Level Limit Douluo
Qiangu Dongfeng is a Limit Douluo assessed as a demigod-level combatant. His strength places him among the Spirit Transmission Pagoda’s highest-ranking fighters, though he is decisively inferior to top-tier quasi-gods such as Leng Hanyuan. 3 4
- His cultivation allowed him to recognize that Leng Hanyuan’s aura exceeded the demigod level. 4
- Even without Four-Word Battle Armor in their first encounter, Leng Hanyuan’s pressure caused Dongfeng’s martial soul manifestation to wither. 3
- He was previously defeated by Yun Ming, a loss later used by Zang Xin to provoke him. 40
Coiling Dragon Martial Soul
Dongfeng’s martial soul manifests as a hidden or coiling dragon phantom. 3
- He summoned its phantom in response to Leng Hanyuan’s Ice Crystal Profound Phoenix. 3
- The manifestation was suppressed almost immediately during their invisible clash. 3
Political Manipulation
As Pagoda Master, Dongfeng built a dense network of influence within the Spirit Transmission Pagoda and used intelligence, family authority, and covert intermediaries to protect Qiangu interests. 2 95 96
- He quickly received reports whenever Leng Hanyuan entered the Spirit Pagoda headquarters. 95
- He investigated Leng Hanyuan’s disciples, especially Yuanen Yehui, to assess future threats to the Qiangu Family. 95
- He maintained a covert working relationship with the Holy Spirit Cult, using it for matters the Qiangu Family could not openly handle. 96
Relationships
- Leng Yaozhu — He persistently pursues her despite her clear disgust and rejection; he also sees marriage to her as a route to bringing the Phoenix Family under Qiangu control. 2 3
- Leng Hanyuan — Political rival and personal obstacle. Dongfeng initially challenged him, later feigned goodwill, and eventually sought the Holy Spirit Cult’s help to eliminate him. 3 43 96
- Qiangu Dieting — His father, the former Pagoda Master and old patriarch of the Qiangu Family. Dongfeng defers to Dieting’s judgment after his humiliation by Leng Hanyuan. 4
- Qiangu Zhangting — His only direct grandson and designated successor. Dongfeng sends him to Leng Hanyuan under the pretext of study, intending for him to recruit Gu Yue or Yuanen Yehui into the Qiangu Family. 98 99 134
- Ghost Emperor — Covert collaborator from the Holy Spirit Cult. Their mutual distrust is outweighed by practical cooperation, though Ghost Emperor refuses Dongfeng’s request to target Leng Hanyuan directly. 96 97
- Zhen Hua — The Divine Craftsman’s decision to join the Phoenix Family is a major setback for Dongfeng, who recognizes the resulting shift in military and political balance. 34
Story Role / Major Arcs
Conflict with the Phoenix Family
Dongfeng’s opposition to Leng Hanyuan begins with jealousy over Leng Yaozhu and fear that the Phoenix Family will challenge Qiangu dominance within the Spirit Transmission Pagoda. His direct confrontation ends in intimidation and retreat. 2 3
At the core meeting, he resists Leng Hanyuan’s entry into the Pagoda’s inner leadership. Qiangu Dieting’s failure to suppress Leng Hanyuan confirms that the Qiangu Family can no longer rely on its former military superiority. 9 10
Forced Public Conciliation
After Leng Hanyuan defeats Yun Ming and becomes the continent’s foremost soul master, Dongfeng publicly changes his stance. He offers congratulations and seeks an alliance, but Leng Hanyuan remains indifferent. 43
Covert Opposition
Dongfeng concludes that Leng Hanyuan’s disciples, Gu Yue and Yuanen Yehui, could eventually suppress the Qiangu Family as thoroughly as their teacher. He contacts Ghost Emperor and attempts to employ the Holy Spirit Cult against Leng Hanyuan, but abandons the plan after learning that even the cult considers the target too dangerous. 95 96 97
The Qiangu Zhangting Scheme
Dongfeng agrees to let Qiangu Zhangting follow Leng Hanyuan, concealing his true purpose: Zhangting is to approach Gu Yue or Yuanen Yehui and draw one into the Qiangu Family. 98 99
The plan fails when Zhangting becomes invested in teaching at Eastsea Academy rather than pursuing either target. He later openly rejects Dongfeng’s strategy and seeks Leng Hanyuan’s support to take authority from his grandfather. 102 106 108
Dongfeng is deceived by Zhangting’s reports until he discovers his grandson’s alliance with Leng Hanyuan. Furious but unable to replace his only direct heir, Dongfeng restricts Zhangting before gradually accepting the new reality and allowing his influence within the Qiangu Family to grow. 109 134 135
