Origins and traditions

Shrek Academy's running drills are an educational tradition inherited across twenty thousand years: they began in Tang San's generation, persisted under Huo Yuhao ten thousand years later, and remain part of its training methods in the present era. 14

Its early doctrine was to accept only “monsters” rather than ordinary Soul Masters. The academy initially consisted of Tang San and the other six first-generation Shrek students; its modern form developed after those students made it famous through the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Tournament and Shrek annexed Blue Tyrant Academy. 126

Shrek City and institutional standing

Leng Hanyuan's emergence as the Mystic Phoenix Douluo threatened Shrek Academy's standing because Yun Ming's strength was a major basis of the academy's momentum. Shrek agreed to a continent-wide broadcast spar between Yun Ming and Leng Hanyuan as a public test of the latter's power. 31 36 38

Yun Ming conceded defeat in the broadcast match, ending his status as the continent's recognized strongest individual. The loss damaged Shrek Academy's prestige, pushed smaller factions toward the Spirit Transmission Pagoda and Phoenix Family, and endangered the academy's next recruitment cycle. 44

The Sea God Pavilion responded by attempting to suppress public discussion, maintain a lower profile, and demand strong performances from Shrek students in future competitions. 44

Skysea Alliance Grand Competition

Seeking public victories to restore confidence in its educational standards, Shrek Academy entered the Skysea Alliance Grand Competition as contestants rather than merely attending as invited guests. Zhuo Shi led the team. 55 57

The Shrek students targeted Gu Yue and Yuanen Yehui because both were Leng Hanyuan's disciples. Gu Yue defeated Yu Yao despite being two soul rings below him, and Yuanen Yehui also defeated Shrek's representatives. 57 59

Facing the prospect of further losses to Leng Hanyuan's disciples, Shrek Academy forfeited its remaining matches. The withdrawal avoided complete defeat but still generated controversy and further weakened its prestige. 61

Rivalry with Spirit Academy

After Leng Hanyuan's victories weakened Shrek Academy's public standing, the Spirit Transmission Pagoda established Spirit Academy as a direct competitor. Shrek's elders identified the new academy as an existential threat to their student intake. 113 117

The challenge failed. Na'er lost to Gu Yue, and the Spirit Academy team defeated Shrek's representatives in full view of the attendees. Unlike the Skysea withdrawal, this was an unambiguous defeat; the opposing team had been temporarily assembled and had not undergone formal Spirit Academy training. 125 126

Enrollment decline and alliance

Spirit Academy used its victory to fuel a highly successful enrollment campaign. More than four thousand Soul Power scans were received within the first three hours of registration, with applicants arriving from major cities across the Federation. 128

Long Yeyue turned to Chen Xinjie for support, and the Sea God Clan publicly formed a firm alliance with Shrek Academy. The declaration restored some prestige but did not reverse the academy's broader decline. 132 133 134
