Shui Bing'er first encountered Lin Hao during a spirit-beast hunt. Both sensed an unusual complementary connection, which she recognized as the potential for a Martial Soul Fusion Skill; she took the initiative to suggest that their groups travel together. 36 37

When Lin Hao announced his intention to absorb a ten-thousand-year third soul ring, Shui Bing'er firmly warned him not to exceed his limits. Her concern stemmed from caution for his safety rather than hostility. 37

During the expedition, Shui Bing'er reluctantly killed an Ice Bear at her father's instruction and absorbed its 1,500-year soul ring. The resulting third soul skill, Resist Ice Ring, replicated the beast's repulsion ability. 38

Shui Bing'er remained worried while Lin Hao absorbed the Exorcism Golden Scale Lion's soul ring. Shui Ruohan helped protect Lin Hao through the dangerous absorption process, partly because Lin Hao's compatibility with Shui Bing'er could make him an important future ally of the Water Family. 39 40

She and her father later realized that Lin Hao would become a Heaven Dou Royal Academy competitor, placing him opposite Skywater Academy in the future tournament. Shui Bing'er nevertheless regarded their potential connection as more important than a temporary academy rivalry. 40

Shui Bing'er is kind-hearted and compassionate. She hesitated before killing the Ice Bear needed for her soul ring, objected to gaining power through killing in Slaughter City, and later proposed converting hostile sea soul beast clans rather than exterminating them. 38 189 208

She is also perceptive and strategically minded. Her proposal during the Sea God trials—to return hostile sea soul beasts to the Sea God's faith—enabled the group to increase the trial's difficulty and obtain multiplied rewards. Tang San and Lin Hao both recognized the insight behind her plan. 208 209

Her perceptiveness also allowed her to identify the false Water Family messenger who had been sent to draw her and Shui Yue'er away from Lin Hao. 120

Shui Bing'er is willing to reflect on her judgments. After initially calling Lin Hao's Demon-Subduing Talisman a vicious soul skill, she accepted his view that a soul skill's morality depends on the intentions of the person using it. 41
