Background / History

Su Chen transmigrated into the Douluo Continent, reverting to the body of a six-year-old and awakening a system. Its novice gift provided the Heart of Rules, innate full spirit power, and a spirit ring. After Su Yuntao deemed his martial soul “trash,” Su Chen accepted three gold spirit coins and entered Nuoding Junior Spirit Master Academy. 1

At Dormitory Seven, he announced himself as a level-eleven Control-type Spirit Master and used his first skill to force Tang San into a kneeling blade-catching posture. The victory established him as the dormitory’s boss; Xiao Wu conceded her position, while Wang Sheng and the other work-study students became his followers. 1 7

Su Chen repeatedly antagonized Tang San and Yu Xiaogang, rejecting Yu Xiaogang’s offer of tutelage and publicly disputing his theories. He later spent Abstract Points to reach level 20 before facing Tang Hao, whose attempt to intimidate him ended with Tang Hao defeated and humiliated. 2 10 11 13

After graduating early from Nuoding Academy, Su Chen travelled with Xiao Wu, intercepted Zhu Zhuqing’s pursuers in the Star Dou Great Forest, and revealed his yellow–purple–black soul-ring configuration. At Shrek, Su Chen secured an Honorary Teacher position from Flender to prevent Yu Xiaogang from controlling his group’s training. After Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin verified Ning Rongrong’s evolution, Ning Fengzhi thanked Su Chen and gave him five million gold soul coins. At Blue Tyrant Academy, Su Chen registered as a teacher and revealed that he had reached level 45. He later formed a tournament team with Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, Jiang Zhu, Liu Ruyan, and Ling’er to compete for the academy’s official places. Before the tournament, Dugu Yan and Ye Lingling joined the Blue Tyrant Team. Appearance

Su Chen appears much younger than his cultivation suggests; at age twelve, his level-45 Soul Ancestor status shocks Blue Tyrant Academy’s examiners. Others repeatedly remark on his appearance and bearing. 150 170

He tortures and kills captured attackers during Zhu Zhuqing’s rescue, yet protects Dormitory Seven’s work-study students, treats them to meals, equips them with resources, and trains his own group with a focus on their results and morale. 4 30 34 99 104

He is also pragmatic and opportunistic. He uses knowledge of future events to intercept treasures, invents a fictitious noble background to explain his system storage, and avoids confronting threats on terms that do not benefit him. 3 19 180

Despite his relaxed manner as team leader, Su Chen plans around his companions’ cultivation needs. He treats card games as an exercise in strategy and teamwork, and combines their journey to obtain soul rings with cultivation at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. 216 221

Su Chen’s martial soul is a shapeshifting gaseous entity that he commonly condenses into a longsword. Its soul skills impose abnormal, rule-like effects rather than relying on conventional offensive force. 1
