Background

Yu Hengqing was regarded as demented for years before his martial soul awakening. At the ceremony, however, he spoke fluently and manifested golden lightning powerful enough to damage the site and suppress the lightning of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon martial soul. He fainted immediately afterward. 1

His martial soul was identified as Leiyi, a detached beast spirit with a physical form rather than an ordinary Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon inheritance. Leiyi initially suppressed Yu Hengqing's soul power because its thunder energy conflicted with his own, severely slowing his cultivation. 2 7

A broken sword carrying the Thunder God's aura merged into Yu Hengqing's body shortly after his innate soul power was tested. Within his mental space, it designated him as a qualified successor and initiated the Nine Trials of the Thunder God. 3

To meet the First Trial's requirement of a lightning-attribute soul ring at least 700 years old, Yu Hengqing undertook extensive physical tempering. He used Whale Glue under Yu Yuanzhen's supervision, including a dangerous attempt with thousand-year Whale Glue, and trained his martial arts until his body met the required standard. 4 5 6 7

After gaining the Purple Lightning Marten ring and completing the First Trial, Yu Hengqing entered Heaven Dou Royal Academy. He trained in the Thunder-Fire Hall, where he achieved environmental resonance almost instantly and remained in cultivation for an hour and a half, surpassing Yu Tianheng's record. 10 12

During a later hunt for a second soul ring, Yu Hengqing and Yu Hezai became involved in a soul beast riot and encountered the fierce beasts. He transferred his soul power to Yu Hezai to escape Xiong Jun, damaging nearly one-fifth of his own meridians in the process. 20 21 22

Yu Hengqing subsequently negotiated directly with the Silver Dragon King at the Life Lake. In exchange for future assistance after becoming the Thunder God, he secured the spirit beasts' support, including spirit rings, spirit bones, heavenly treasures, and the planned Wisdom Spirit Ring arrangement. 23 24

Personality

Yu Hengqing is ambitious and pragmatic. His primary objective is to become strong enough to protect himself and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan from its anticipated destruction, and he pursues resources, alliances, and divine trials with this goal in mind. 5 24 38

He remains composed when confronting vastly stronger figures, including Di Tian and the Silver Dragon King, and negotiates openly for the resources he considers necessary. 22 23 24

Despite his calculating side, Yu Hengqing values trust and personal loyalty. He accepts Zhou Yan's Golden Lightning Pattern Fruit without inspecting it, stating that he trusts him, and he prioritizes Yu Hezai's safety before agreeing to accompany Di Tian. 14 22
