Background / History

Bi Ji accepted a mission connected to locating the Thunder God's successor despite Di Tian's concern that a healing-type soul beast would be unsafe outside the Life Lake. She insisted that Di Tian's priority was improving his own strength, since the other soul beasts depended on him for protection. 4

Using a dragon scale supplied by the Silver Dragon King, Bi Ji located Yu Hengqing and Yu Yuanzhen near the Star Dou Forest. Her life-aura detection identified one Titled Douluo and one one-ringed Soul Master; because her injuries had not fully healed, she chose not to approach and returned to Life Lake to consult Di Tian. Before leaving, she instructed Daming and Erming to absorb the energy there to reinforce their foundations for the two-hundred-thousand-year threshold. 9

When Yu Hengqing returned to the forest for his second soul ring, Bi Ji again followed the dragon scale to find him. She recognized his rapid advancement to level twenty as extraordinary for a normal soul master and inferred that his status as the Thunder God's successor explained it. She concealed both herself and her presence to observe him without being discovered. 19

After Xiong Jun injured Yu Hengqing, Bi Ji appeared before him in the forest. She calmly stated that she meant no harm, healed his torn muscles and meridians, and warned that the treatment had only suppressed the damage: nearly one-fifth of his meridians could no longer circulate soul power. 21 22

Following Yu Hengqing's stay at Life Lake, Di Tian assigned Bi Ji to escort him to Thunder Valley. During the journey, she treated injured soul beasts and discussed the conflict caused by soul masters needing to hunt soul beasts for spirit rings. Yu Hengqing's suggestion that an alternative system might be possible deeply affected her, as resolving that conflict had long been her concern. 27

Bi Ji later chose to become Yu Hengqing's guardian until Senior Thunder Dragon became his Wisdom Spirit Ring. Though she presented the arrangement as a collective decision, she personally gave him a Purple Lightning Marrow Crystal and hoped that cooperation with him could create a better relationship between soul masters and soul beasts. 30

After supporting Yu Hengqing through the completion of his Second God Trial, Bi Ji withdrew from accompanying him into the human world, judging it too dangerous due to its unstable factors and the existence of another suspected divine-trial inheritor. Before leaving, she used the Silver Dragon King's tokens to summon Yu Zhantian's remnant consciousness and relay the agreement between Yu Hengqing and the Silver Dragon King. 31 32

Bi Ji is compassionate toward soul beasts, routinely leaving Life Lake to heal wounded creatures. She is particularly troubled by the long-standing cycle in which soul masters kill soul beasts to obtain rings, and she seeks a way for the two sides to coexist rather than pursuing conflict. 19 27 30

She is cautious rather than naïve. Bi Ji initially avoided approaching Yu Hengqing while injured, concealed her presence while observing him, and later declined to enter the Sunset Forest because human activity there could expose her to plots. 9 19 32

Although gentle, Bi Ji can act independently of other fierce beasts. She went personally to protect Yu Hengqing despite opposition, hoping his existence could become an opening for improved human–soul beast relations. 4 30
