Bai Yi walked toward Xiao Wu step by step.
His burly frame cast a huge shadow across the ground, enveloping Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing.
Tang San lay on the other side of the Soul Fighting Platform, the wound on his back still bleeding. He desperately raised his head.
"Stop! Don't touch Xiao Wu! Xiao Wu, run! He's a demon!"
Bai Yi tilted his head slightly and glanced at him, amusement flickering in his eyes.
Through Communication with the Nether, he sent Xiao Wu a thought.
Tang San cares about you quite a bit, huh? Aren't you touched?
Standing at the edge of the Soul Fighting Platform, Xiao Wu blinked her large eyes and sent a thought back.
Pah, pah, pah! Don't disgust me. That stinking Tang San has been pestering me ever since I came back last time. He's like a fly I can't shake off. I used to think he had some talent, so keeping him as a little follower was fine. But now he's getting more and more disgusting. Bai Yi, hurry up and take me away. I don't want to stay with him for even another moment.
Bai Yi chuckled inwardly. Before he could reply, Zhu Zhuqing moved.
She stepped forward and stretched out a hand to shield Xiao Wu. Her cat ears rose from her hair, her tail pulled taut, and her eyes brimmed with icy vigilance.
Her figure flashed, turning into a blurred black shadow. Sharp blades sprang from her claws as she slashed swiftly toward Bai Yi's ribs.
She was incredibly fast, her claws carving several silvery-white arcs through the air.
Bai Yi remained where he was, turning his body slightly.
His huge hand reached toward the rapidly moving black shadow, moving at an absurd speed.
That rough hand accurately seized Zhu Zhuqing by the back of her neck.
Zhu Zhuqing's body instantly stiffened.
She felt that palm clamp around her neck like iron pincers, lifting her entirely off the ground.
She desperately grabbed Bai Yi's arm with both hands, her nails digging into the golden monkey fur on his arm. But it did nothing. Suspended in midair, her cool face swiftly reddened from lack of oxygen.
A kind yet cruel smile appeared on Bai Yi's rugged face as he said in a low voice, "You're this weak, and you still dare attack me?"
Zhu Zhuqing could not answer.
Her throat was locked by that huge hand, and she could only let out muffled gasps.
Yet her gaze did not waver in the slightest.
Those cool eyes stared fixedly at Bai Yi's face. There was no fear in them, no pleading—only an almost stubborn resolve.
She remembered that night two years ago.
The streets and alleys of Notting City had been narrow and dark. She had been cornered in a dead end by pursuers sent by her family. At the time, she had thought she would die there.
Then a figure descended from the sky, and a golden staff swept everyone away.
Lying on the ground, she had raised her head and seen only the side profile of a youth silhouetted against the light.
From that day onward, she had told herself that her life no longer belonged to her.
She would use this life to chase after that person's footsteps, if only to stand before him and say thank you.
She had not done that yet.
She could not die now.
Zhu Zhuqing suddenly twisted her body, viciously kicking Bai Yi in the chest with both legs using the strength of her waist and abdomen. Borrowing the rebound, she broke free from his palm, flipped backward twice, and landed steadily on the ground.
She panted twice, then raised a hand to touch the bright red mark on her neck. Her gaze was even firmer than before.
Taking a deep breath, she said, "He and I have nothing to do with each other anymore. From now on, I will rely only on myself."
Her figure once again became a streak of black light as she charged straight at Bai Yi.
Watching her rush toward him, Bai Yi's eyes flashed with appreciation.
His tone turned more serious than before. "Very good. The look in your eyes, little cat, is far more determined than that little tiger's. Unfortunately, the gap in strength can't be made up with determination alone."
His right hand gently clenched once more.
Zhu Zhuqing's body abruptly halted in midair, as though she had slammed into an invisible wall.
She felt an immense pressure closing in from all directions, pinning her firmly in place and leaving her unable to move.
Suspended in the air, she struggled a few times, only to find that she could not even move a single finger.
Bai Yi stopped paying attention to her and turned his gaze toward Xiao Wu nearby.
Xiao Wu had long been ready.
Her large eyes widened slightly. Covering her mouth with both hands, two snow-white rabbit ears popped out from beside her ears and trembled at just the right moment.
She took half a step back, her voice carrying thirty percent panic and seventy percent performance. "Y-you, don't come any closer! I'm so scared!"
Bai Yi pressed down the corners of his mouth, barely holding it together.
He darted over, his movements fast and rough. One arm wrapped around Xiao Wu's waist, tucking her entire body beneath his armpit.
Xiao Wu symbolically struggled twice, clenched her fists, and lightly punched his back. "Hey! You big bad guy! Let me go!"
Her voice sounded resistant, but those two punches were so light that they were no different from acting coquettish.
She turned her head, her gaze passing over Bai Yi's shoulder to fall upon Tang San, who lay sprawled on the ground in the distance.
Her eyes suddenly reddened, and a tear slid from the corner of her eye at just the right moment. Her trembling voice carried a sob. "Little San, save me!"
Tang San's eyes instantly turned bloodshot.
He lay on the ground, the eight bloody holes in his back still seeping blood. He used every ounce of strength in his body to crawl forward two inches, then heavily collapsed again.
His nails carved several bloody marks into the floor of the Soul Fighting Platform. His teeth ground together, and blood seeped from between them.
Looking at the familiar figure tucked beneath Bai Yi's arm in the distance, he felt as though someone had seized his heart in their hand and crushed it to pieces.
I'm sorry, Xiao Wu. I'm too useless.
Seeing Tang San's miserable state, Bai Yi quietly sent Xiao Wu a thought. You're way too good at acting, aren't you? His Dao heart is probably shattered beyond recovery.
Xiao Wu snorted inwardly. Even this little lesson is too light. The fact that I didn't go over and kick him twice already makes me kind.
Bai Yi walked over, grabbed Zhu Zhuqing by the back of her collar with his other hand, and lifted her up.
With Xiao Wu tucked under one arm and Zhu Zhuqing dangling from the other, and the dark golden phantom holding Er Ming's soul spirit hanging behind him, he looked exactly like an evil villain kidnapping young girls.
He threw back his head and laughed. "Hahaha! You're coming with me too, little cat."
In the distance, Ning Rongrong stomped her foot, and she could barely maintain that expression of a harsh middle-aged woman.
She gritted her teeth and cursed inwardly. What is this supposed to be? He looks exactly like a big pervert, holding one and carrying another.
The atmosphere in the spectator stands was completely ignited.
Someone slapped his thigh and shouted, "My god! This guy is actually going to kidnap Shrek's two little girls? That's way too evil!"
Another person immediately shouted, "I'm so jealous I could die! Rabbit ears and a cat tail—who understands?!"
Others clapped wildly and shouted, "Well done! This is the kind of spectacle Soul Fighting should have!"
Tang San lay on the ground, staring fixedly at Bai Yi's retreating back as tears and blood mixed together and slid from the corners of his eyes.
Dai Mubai lay beside him as well, his fist clutching Ma Hongjun's clothes. Hatred nearly made him grind his teeth to pieces, while tears of humiliation and fury welled in his tiger eyes.
"Wang... one day, I'll tear you apart."
Bai Yi did not look back.
Carrying the two girls, he strode toward the bottom of the Soul Fighting Platform.
