Zhang Geyang is the son of Zhang Hongwen, the Spirit Pagoda Vice Tower Master known as the level 98 Nether Flame Douluo. The Zhang family, whose inherited martial soul is the Nether Flame Beast, is counted among the Spirit Pagoda’s three leading families, behind only the Qiangu and Leng families. Zhang Geyang received extensive family resources and training from childhood. 13

He was chosen for the Seven Luminaries Team alongside Xiao Cheng, the Leng sisters, the Qiangu brothers, and Xia Zhengleng. From the outset, he aligned himself closely with Qiangu Dongfeng, while Xia Zhengleng gravitated toward Qiangu Qingfeng. 14

Seeking to establish his standing in the newly assembled team, Zhang Geyang challenged Xiao Cheng for a spar. Despite holding a one-rank advantage and believing his Nether Flame Beast superior to Xiao Cheng’s Azure Sky Snake, he was defeated in under ten seconds by Xiao Cheng’s teleportation and spear techniques.
