He cultivated an aloof scholarly image, often walking with his hands behind his back and presenting himself as an authority on martial souls. His office was lined with disordered manuscripts and bookshelves, reinforcing this reputation among students such as Tang San. 9 11

When Tang San arrived to enroll, Yu intervened against the gatekeeper, examined Tang San’s Spirit Hall certificate, and took him into the academy. From Tang San’s full innate spirit power and Blue Silver Grass martial soul, Yu inferred that Tang San possessed a second, powerful martial soul. Privately, he viewed Tang San as the proof needed to vindicate theories that had long been mocked and restore his own reputation. 9

Yu offered to accept Tang San as his disciple, promising to guide him to the continent’s pinnacle. Tang San began the apprenticeship ceremony, but Spirit Hall’s enforcement team interrupted it before it could be completed. 10

Following his public disgrace and imprisonment, Yu remained confined in Notting City prison until Tang Hao forcibly broke him out.
