Guy's Unusual Thought Process

"Chidori Blade," an Anbu member continued explaining.

"Legend has it that Captain Kakashi used this technique to cut through lightning itself. It's an absolute S-rank ninjutsu."

Kakashi, of course, wasn't reckless enough to try and collide with the barrier using his own body.

"Chidori Current!" The Chidori Blade transformed into a sharp edge, flashing with white light.

The Anbu members' pupils contracted. "With chakra at that level, it might actually be possible..."

But when the Chidori Current struck the barrier, it remained completely unharmed.

The Anbu members grew dejected.

They sighed softly.

All they could do was watch helplessly as their Hokage was locked in a desperate battle.

At Root headquarters, Uchiha Yan dispelled his Shadow Clone Technique as he left.

Uchiha Yan glanced around again and saw that Konoha was gradually gaining control of the situation.

He stopped slacking off and used his Sharingan to trap the Sunagakure jōnin in a genjutsu.

Then he slit the man's throat with a kunai.

The dead ninja was Baki of Sunagakure. He had thought today would be his big break.

He'd held off Konoha's genius ninja, the Scorch Release user Uchiha Yan, all by himself.

But the instant he saw Uchiha Yan's Sharingan, he knew something was wrong.

By then, however, it was too late. He had already fallen under a genjutsu before seeing Uchiha Yan's Sharingan.

When he opened his eyes, he had already spoken.

All he could do was stare wide-eyed at Uchiha Yan, his gaze filled with confusion and resentment.

Baki couldn't understand why Uchiha Yan hadn't killed him right away, instead toying with him for so long before crushing him like an ant.

Uchiha Yan paid no attention to the final feelings of a dead man.

He went straight to help the other Uchiha clan members slaughter the remaining Sunagakure ninjas.

The Sunagakure ninjas were certainly troublesome, though.

One of them was a puppeteer who kept fighting the Uchiha with his puppet.

If Uchiha Yan hadn't realized his Sharingan was useless against the puppeteer, he wouldn't have found the man controlling it.

After the situation was completely under control, Uchiha Yan counted the casualties.

Most of the Hawk Faction members had been slacking off, so none of them had died. Only one unlucky fellow had suffered a minor injury fighting the puppeteer.

As for the Dove Faction, several members were badly wounded, but none had died.

Naturally, Uchiha Yan wasn't about to miss this chance to win the people's goodwill.

He turned to several Dove Faction Uchiha and said, "You few, go to the perimeter and help evacuate the injured civilians and give them basic treatment."

Neither the Sunagakure nor the Konoha ninjas had deliberately attacked the civilians.

But the shockwaves from the Summoning Beasts fighting each other were more than enough to cause ordinary people a world of trouble.

The reason he sent the Dove Faction members was simple.

Most of them were mild-mannered, unlike the Hawk Faction members, who went around with a scowl as if everyone owed them money.

The ordinary people they helped couldn't tell the Hawk Faction from the Dove Faction anyway.

All they would remember was that when their houses were destroyed and they were injured, a group of ninjas wearing Uchiha clan uniforms patiently escorted them to the hospital.

The Dove Faction members didn't understand, but they could only obey Uchiha Yan's orders.

The battle inside the barrier had reached its peak.

Watching the two sides fight fiercely while the rooftop remained completely unharmed, Uchiha Yan couldn't help but marvel at its quality.

It had withstood the attacks of two peak Kage Level fighters.

Perhaps Senju Hashirama had heard Uchiha Yan's thoughts.

He brought his hands together. "Wood Release: Deep Forest Emergence!"

The previously indestructible rooftop was immediately pierced by trees.

At that moment, Guy, who had been watching from the side, rested his chin in his hand and said something astonishing. "If the enemy can summon trees, couldn't we enter the barrier from beneath the house and go help Lord Hokage?"

Everyone present immediately developed dark lines across their foreheads.

Kakashi had no choice but to explain the basics to Guy.

"Guy, are you saying that if the barrier were on the ground, we could just dig a tunnel from below and get inside?"

"Oh? Isn't that right?" Guy asked, looking at Kakashi in confusion.

Kakashi held up a finger and began reviewing Ninja Academy lessons with Might Guy.

After Kakashi finished explaining, Might Guy smacked his fist into his palm. "Oh? So that's how it works! Kakashi, I understand now. No wonder you're a genius."

Kakashi sighed softly and looked at him as if he were Konoha's Rare Beast. "Guy, that's basic knowledge you need to become a jōnin."

Then he suddenly remembered Guy's circumstances, covered his forehead, and waved his hand helplessly.

"Forget it. I forgot you can't use ninjutsu."

Inside the barrier, Sarutobi Hiruzen was caught off guard by the First's Wood Release and bound tightly by the trees.

But he had already bitten his thumb.

With the last of his strength, Sarutobi Hiruzen pressed his hand against a nearby tree.

"Summoning Technique."

A cloud of white smoke cleared, revealing a towering Enma on the tree.

He looked down like a gorilla, surveying the scene below.

Seeing this, Sarutobi Hiruzen hurriedly called out, "Enma, I need your help! Adamantine Staff!"

Enma transformed at once and chopped through the trees binding Sarutobi Hiruzen.

At that moment, Senju Hashirama and Senju Tobirama surrounded him from either side.

Orochimaru, who had been watching for a long time, finally decided to act.

He tilted his head back and stuck out his long tongue. The tongue turned into a snake, which then spat out a sword.

Uchiha Yan, watching from the side, felt a wave of revulsion.

He couldn't understand why a simple summoning technique had to be made so disgusting.

Everyone else was fighting, while Orochimaru was putting on a magic show?

Sarutobi Hiruzen's expression turned grave as he looked at the sword in Orochimaru's hand.

"The Kusanagi Sword? Where did Orochimaru get that?"

But Sarutobi Hiruzen had no time to worry about that.

He gripped the Adamantine Staff and prepared to fight.

"Let's go, Enma."

Outside the barrier, the well-informed Anbu member continued serving as the commentator.

"The Third Hokage has used a Summoning Technique! That's the strongest Summoning Beast among all the Hokage!"

Uchiha Yan nearly lost control of his expression when he heard that.

Still, there was a certain logic to it.

Sarutobi Hiruzen was the strongest Hokage, so his Summoning Technique had to be the strongest too.

Even if this strongest Hokage's reasoning was no better than a seven-year-old child's.

"Orochimaru, is that the Kusanagi Sword? The legendary sharpest sword?"

Now that Sarutobi Hiruzen saw the three of them surrounding him, he decided to strike first.

Sarutobi Hiruzen controlled the Adamantine Staff in his hands, making it grow longer in an attempt to use its reach to suppress Orochimaru.
