Background / History

The Nangong Clan is an ancient and exceptionally entrenched immortal clan whose power extends throughout Glazed Heaven and beyond. It rules the Vast Ancient Realm from South Splendor Mountain and is known as the Southern Overlord. Though it publicly appeared to lack a Fruit Status Immortal, its hidden foundation, servants, formations, affiliated sects, and concealed high-level immortals made even clans with Fruit Status Immortals reluctant to provoke it 317 482.

The clan descends from the ancient Nanhua Immortal Lord, an ancestor whose existence was kept as one of its greatest secrets. Its headquarters and inherited formations were established on South Splendor Mountain, while its broader plans relied on ancient legacies and long-term deployments across the Xuhe Realm 317 476.

A Moon-Gazing City branch split from the main clan a millennium earlier and arrived in the city roughly seven hundred years before the main story. The branch spent generations secretly exploiting Mingyu Mountain's spiritual vein and pursuing the treasures beneath it. This work tainted its members with karma, causing successive family heads and informed core disciples to perish in heavenly tribulations 69.

The clan plotted against the Chen Clan for years, orchestrating Chen Fengyang's reported failed tribulation, the Chen Clan's internal strife, and—according to Chen Xiao's later discovery—the murder of Chen Yao thirteen years earlier. In Chen Xiao's previous life, these schemes culminated in the Chen Clan's annihilation and the Nangong takeover of Moon-Gazing City, with Nangong Wenyue becoming city lord 1 21.

Exposure in Moon-Gazing City

Chen Xiao first targeted the clan's mine at Mingyu Mountain, uncovering its spiritual-vein operations and the truth of Chen Yao's murder. He then exploited Nangong Wenyang's recklessness, the deaths of clan elders, and outside suspicion to force public attention onto the clan 16 21 42 43.

The clan's Moon-Gazing City deployments collapsed as its hidden formations, treasury, and connection to the Southern Overlord were exposed. Sixteen Integrated Body elders, Nangong Yue, Nangong Wenyue, and later multiple hidden experts died during the crisis 42 43 48 50.

Destruction of the Moon-Gazing City Branch

Cai Di, Ao Xie, and Shadow destroyed the Moon-Gazing City base and decimated the branch's forces at Mingyu Mountain. Nangong Shenyao self-detonated to break the defensive formation, while Shadow killed the remaining elders, leaving Nangong Shenhe as the sole surviving member of the local family at that point 65 67 68.

Nangong Shenhe's use of the Seven Emotions Immortal Sword and Six Desires Immortal Armor caused further chaos, but the artifacts drove him into increasingly unstable violence. His father Nangong Xianglong was killed, and Shenhe was later severely wounded in Moon-Gazing City 69 71 78 81.

War Against the Clan's Wider Network

After exposing the clan's agents in Daiyue City, Chen Xiao and other powers attacked its connected assets. The clan's relation to the Situ Family and its footholds in Fallen Leaf City, Yuluo Valley, and Mystic Eagle Mountain became known to its rivals 120 124 129.

Chen Xiao later assaulted the Wind-Driving Sect after discovering the tortured Li Changqi. He used heavenly tribulations against Nangong members and fought Nangong Wuer, extracting the Grand Freedom Mysterious Gold Killing Art through a Heart Demon Tribulation 229 230.

Final Collapse

During the Nine Stars Conjunction, the clan openly seized Bright Jade Valley, activated its realm-wide arrangements, and attempted to claim Fallen Heaven Capital. Its strength included Fruit Status Immortals, Supreme Immortals, Mystic Immortals, and ancient formations, but this display attracted the united hostility of major Immortal World powers 491 492 493.

Chen Xiao infiltrated South Splendor Mountain during the ensuing chaos. Using Heart Demon Calamities and Myriad Demons World-Refining Great Thunder Calamities, he devastated the headquarters and killed numerous immortals. Nangong Wenxing was evacuated by powerful clan immortals, while Nangong Shen Yu and Nangong Gan remained embedded as Chen Xiao's internal pieces 503 504.

The clan's remaining Fruit Status Immortals were later defeated during its attempt to inherit the Heavenly Court Imperial Guard's legacy. Nangong Yunlong's death marked the end of its final recorded resistance in that conflict 520.
