History

Leaf initially faced severe internal distrust between its leadership and the Uchiha Clan. Sarutobi Hiruzen and Shimura Danzō both sought influence over Uchiha prodigies Gray and Itachi, while many Uchiha believed the village had denied their clan its rightful political place. 9 10 17

Gray's public support for village unity and his later displays of strength changed the clan's standing. After Hiruzen and Danzō died, Gray persuaded Fugaku Uchiha to reject rebellion in favor of gradual political integration; Fugaku subsequently received a seat on the Council of Elders. 72 84

Kumogakure and Iwagakure later mobilized against Leaf, believing the village weakened by the absence of a Hokage. Gray's intervention turned the conflict decisively in Leaf's favor, and the two opposing villages ceased to be considered major ninja villages afterward. 86 89 100

Orochimaru attacked Leaf after killing Danzō, using the Four Violet Flames Formation to isolate Hiruzen and deploying rogue ninja and giant summoned snakes against the village. 65 67

Gray shattered the formation with Susanoo and forced Orochimaru to retreat, while Hiruzen ultimately used the Dead Demon Consuming Seal during the battle. 70 71

Pain's Invasion

Postwar Transformation

After defeating the King of the Otsutsuki Clan, Gray announced that he would no longer serve as Hokage and instead pursue a new order for the entire Shinobi World. His stated goals included unifying the world, granting equal rights, establishing laws to protect the weak, and ending the cycle of wars between villages. 255

Leaf supported Gray's plan to abolish the Daimyo system and join the new nation. Sunagakure and Kirigakure were also pressured into joining, with Mei Terumi agreeing immediately and Chiyo eventually following. 256
