Background / History

Patriarch Bodhi is the master of Lingtai Square Inch Mountain and the Slanted Moon Three Star Cave. He anticipated Goten's arrival after five hundred years and welcomed him into the mountain when Goten came seeking treatment for Zixia and instruction in true combat 17 18.

He was Sun Wukong's former master. Bodhi taught Wukong the Seventy-Two Transformations and Somersault Cloud, but expected his disciple to return after leaving the mountain. Wukong never did: he later rebelled against Heaven, endured five hundred years beneath Five Finger Mountain, completed Tang Seng's pilgrimage, attained Buddhahood, and died without returning 24. Bodhi admits through his actions and conversations that he waited for five hundred years, regretting that he could not help Wukong and hoping Goten would not follow the same path 20 24.
