A Gift with Face
The girl was wearing an adorable nightgown, and the duck sat on a soft carpet. He noticed that the carpet was made of Unicorn Hair.
Tom gained a new appreciation for Greengrass's wealth.
"Is this the Two-way Mirror you gave me?"
Daphne nodded happily. "Yeah, now that we have Two-way Mirror, we can chat anytime." She asked curiously, "What gift did Hermione give you?"
"A lamp designed to protect my eyes, and it even reminded me to take care of them so I wouldn't become nearsighted like Harry."
Tom picked up the gift Hermione had given him and showed it to Daphne.
Did you receive the gift I sent?
Daphne held up a rather unattractive vest and a glass bottle containing red liquid, and said somewhat fearfully, "Is this stuff really drinkable? Will I turn into a vampire if I drink it?"
This is a gift from nature, or more precisely, from the Re'em, giving Tom a presentable gift for Christmas.
Tom's voice came through the Two-way Mirror to Daphne, "I soaked the hide of the Re'em in a potion, further enhancing its magical defense."
"I've tested it; this clothing can block several Stunning Spell or Petrificus Totalus when cast seriously."
He paused, a little embarrassed. "It's just that my skills are a bit lacking, so it doesn't look very nice. But since it's worn inside a lining and not on the outside, it's not a big deal."
Tom was also a little ashamed of his own work; the stitches were crooked and looked like a rag.
The blood of the Re'em can increase strength and improve physical fitness; it is even more valuable than its fur.
Tom gave Hermione and Daphne the same two items, which others would covet, but Daphne was afraid of, leaving Tom both amused and exasperated.
"How could you possibly become a vampire? Just think of it as drinking syrup, and it will pass." He coaxed Daphne like a child, "After drinking it, your body will become strong, and you won't get sick as easily in winter."
Daphne has caught a cold twice this semester; she's really weak.
Hearing Tom's comforting words, the girl became less resistant, her face showing a slight pout. "Mom said the same thing. She also told me to thank you properly; both gifts are very precious."
Tom waved his hand. "What kind of relationship do we have? Do I need to thank you?"
Daphne chuckled. "That's what I told my mother too." With a mix of coaxing and cajoling from Tom, Daphne finally drank the blood in one gulp.
Her cute little face scrunched up; clearly, the taste was very unpleasant for her.
Soon, her fair skin began to turn red, which frightened Daphne into screaming repeatedly.
Tom explained to her that this was normal, Daphne quickly ended the call and turned off the Two-way Mirror. She didn't want Tom to see her looking like this.
Tom ended the phone call, stretched, and prepared to go out for some exercise before learning magic from Gellert Grindelwald.
Gellert Grindelwald's existence is special. An experiment was conducted yesterday; he can choose to stay in the Study Space to rest or return to his original body.
However, when Tom needs him, his consciousness must come to the Study Space for tutoring, which is interesting.
Even without those previous restrictions, if Tom and Gellert Grindelwald were to fall out one day, Tom could simply call Gellert Grindelwald over.
Even if he could multitask, his strength would be greatly reduced. However, this possibility might not exist; the power of the system wouldn't be so great that it couldn't even restrain a King of the Century.
Just as Tom was about to leave, a burst of fire suddenly appeared in mid-air above the bedroom.
Almost without thinking, he pulled out his wand, and the flames coalesced into a fiery red bird, its two feet gripping a package.
This is a phoenix.
When Phoenix saw Tom pointing his wand at her, a human-like anger flashed in her eyes, as if to say, "Are you ungrateful?"
Tom tentatively asked, "Fawkes?" His wand was half-lowered, indicating that he meant no harm.
"Chirp~"
The phoenix cried out, tossed the package onto the table, and stood aside preening its feathers, looking like it was saying, "Mission accomplished, this great one is going to rest."
He quickly summoned Gellert Grindelwald through his permission; Gellert Grindelwald was currently engaged in magical communication with Andros.
"Look at this bird, is it Fawkes?"
Gellert Grindelwald observed his surroundings, remaining silent for a few seconds before nodding. "That's right, this is Albus Dumbledore's phoenix, Fawkes. How did it end up with you?"
Tom pointed to the package on the table. "It's probably for me, a Christmas present."
Like I said before, I may not need it, but you can't not send it.
Tom was the one who received gifts from the Slytherin students, but Dumbledore was the one who gave them.
However, there is also an old saying that goes, "I am not yet strong; when I am strong, things will change."
When he gains power, Dumbledore will have to give him gifts. This was Tom's previous thought. He thought Albus Dumbledore wouldn't reciprocate, but he didn't expect him to be so particular.
Not only did they return the gift, but they also had Fawkes deliver it, showing them considerable respect.
He hadn't had much luck going to the Headmaster's Office before; he hadn't seen a phoenix. Using a phoenix to deliver packages—only Albus Dumbledore could pull off something so extravagant.
In the current Wizarding World, besides the phoenix in Albus Dumbledore's possession, there is another phoenix named "Spark," which is the mascot of a Quidditch team and is treated like royalty.
Tom looked at Fawkes with envy. "I want a decent pet too."
He brought out nettles, Dittany, and other herbs he had picked from the Forbidden Forest to give to Grandpa Fawkes as an extra treat.
Fawkes was pleased with his cooperation and began to eat slowly, with an arrogant air of "you know what's good for you."
Tom opened the square package, and Gellert Grindelwald's attention was completely drawn to it. Inside the package were three notebooks.
Tom turned to the first page and saw a message left by Albus Dumbledore: "This is a copy of my correspondence with Nicolas Flamel over the years. I hope it will be of some help to your alchemy."
He continued flipping through the pages, which were filled with discussions about alchemy, arranged in chronological order.
From the first letter in 1905 to the last one in 1990, three notebooks were completely filled.
Although the content Winged Horse, it contains the insights of two alchemy masters. As long as you have a solid enough foundation, you can gain a lot from just reading it.
In 1905, Tom remembered that Albus Dumbledore was born in 1981, making him only twenty-five years old at the time. Nicolas Flamel was already over five hundred years old; what a remarkable age difference between them!
"Mr. Grindelwald, do you know Nicolas Flamel?"
Gellert Grindelwald's lips twitched. How could he not recognize him? If it weren't for that old geezer back then, Paris wouldn't exist today.
