Majin Buu landed on the ground with a dull thud. He stood about two meters tall, his body round and plump, his skin a soft shade of pink. A guileless smile always hung on his face, his eyes curved into crescents, making him look entirely harmless—nothing like the most evil creature in the universe as imagined. Yet, everyone present felt a terrifying pressure. This energy wasn't sharp like Cell's, nor cold and sinister like Frieza's; it was a pure, primal, unadulterated power. It carried no malice, nor any benevolence; it simply... existed. Much like a star. You cannot judge a star as good or evil. It is just there, radiating light and heat, capable of both sustaining life and destroying it.
Buu was exactly like that. Babidi crawled out from a corner, pointed at Son Goku and the others, and ordered Buu, "Buu! Kill them!" Buu tilted his head, looked at Babidi, and then turned his gaze toward Son Goku and his companions. His expression remained unchanged, still wearing that guileless smile. "Kill?" Buu spoke, his voice as innocent as a child's. "Why kill?" "Because I am your master!" Babidi shrieked. "You must obey my commands!" Buu thought for a moment, then shook his head. "No."
Babidi was stunned. "What?" "Don't want to kill them," Buu said. "They don't look like bad people." Babidi's face turned the color of liver. "You... you dare defy your master's orders? I will punish you!" He raised his magic staff and began chanting a spell. Buu's body suddenly trembled violently, a look of agony crossing his face. He clutched his head, rolling on the ground and letting out pained groans. "Stop it!" Son Goku lunged forward and punched the magic staff out of Babidi's hand. Babidi fell to the ground, staring at Son Goku in terror. "You... you dare..." "Shut up," Son Goku said coldly. "If you hurt him again, I will kill you." Babidi turned deathly pale with fright, scrambling away from the control room as fast as he could.
Buu's trembling ceased. He sat up, looked at Son Goku, and a flicker of curiosity crossed his eyes. "You... you saved me?" Son Goku crouched down to meet Buu's gaze. "Are you alright?" Buu tilted his head, studying Son Goku carefully. Then, he suddenly smiled—a smile as bright as a child's. "You are a good person," Buu said. "I like you."
Son Goku smiled back. "Thanks. Is your name Buu?" "Mm," Buu nodded. "Buu. Majin Buu." He stood up and looked around. The walls of the control room were lined with screens displaying the exterior of the ship—ruins, wastelands, and distant cities. Buu watched the city lights, a look of longing flashing in his eyes. "There... very bright," Buu said. "Are there many people?" "Yes," Son Goku replied. "That is a city, where many people live." "Buu wants to go see," Buu said. "Buu wants to see many people."
He turned to walk toward the door, then suddenly stopped and looked back at Son Goku. "What is your name?" "Son Goku."
"Son Goku," Buu repeated, his smile widening. "Buu will remember you." He walked out of the control room and vanished into the corridor. Everyone stared at each other in silence.
East Supreme Kai's face was deathly pale. "You... how could you let him go? He is Majin Buu! The most evil creature in the universe!" "He doesn't seem evil," Son Goku said.
"That is a facade!" East Supreme Kai said agitatedly. "Majin Buu's evil is carved into his very bones! He may seem friendly now, but once provoked, he will turn into the most terrifying demon!" "Have you seen it with your own eyes?" Kashu asked. East Supreme Kai was silent for a moment, then nodded. "Millions of years ago, I joined the other Supreme Kais to crusade against Majin Buu. It was the most tragic battle in the history of the universe." "Five Supreme Kais—myself, West Supreme Kai, North Supreme Kai, South Supreme Kai, and Grand Supreme Kai—joined forces to fight Buu. But Buu was too strong. South Supreme Kai was absorbed, North Supreme Kai was killed, West Supreme Kai was devoured, and Grand Supreme Kai was... fused into Buu's body."
He looked at his own hands, his voice trembling. "I was the only one who escaped. Because Buu thought I was too weak and didn't bother to kill me." Everyone fell silent.
Millions of years ago, five Supreme Kais working together couldn't defeat Buu. The Supreme Kais were the highest deities of the universe, their power far exceeding that of mortals. Five of them combined were equivalent to five warriors beyond the level of a Super Saiyan 3 attacking at once. Yet, Buu still won. And he won with ease. "Buu's true strength is far beyond what you just saw," East Supreme Kai said. "He is currently in his Fat Buu form, the state he took after absorbing Grand Supreme Kai. Grand Supreme Kai had a gentle and kind nature, which influenced Buu's mind and made him docile. If he is provoked, or if he absorbs others..."
"What will he become?" Gohan asked. "More powerful, more evil, more terrifying," East Supreme Kai said. "That is pure evil, devoid of any reason or emotion, knowing only slaughter and destruction. That form is known as... Evil Buu." Kashu pondered for a moment. "We have two choices. First, take the opportunity while he is still docile to destroy him. Second, try to become his friend and ensure he never turns into that evil form." "Become friends?" East Supreme Kai looked incredulous. "Are you joking? That is Majin Buu! He is not a pet to be tamed!" "Why not try?" Kashu said. "He just refused Babidi's order because he felt that killing was wrong. This shows he has his own judgment. He is not pure evil; he is an individual with self-awareness." East Supreme Kai wanted to say more, but Son Goku spoke first.
"I agree with Kashu," Son Goku said. "Buu doesn't seem like a bad person. I want to give him a chance." Vegeta let out a cold snort. "You two are both insane. But it doesn't matter to me; I can defeat him regardless." Gohan looked at his father and Kashu, then finally nodded. "I agree as well." East Supreme Kai sighed. "You... you will regret this."
