It was just there, giving off light and heat—capable of sustaining life, and of destroying it.
That was Buu. Babidi crawled out from a corner, pointed at Goku and the others, and ordered Buu, "Buu! Kill them!" Buu tilted his head as he looked at Babidi, then turned to Goku and the others. His expression didn't change; that simple, honest smile remained on his face. "Kill?" Buu spoke in a childlike voice. "Why kill?" "Because I'm your master!" Babidi shrieked. "You have to obey my orders!" Buu thought for a moment, then shook his head. "No."
Babidi froze. "What?" "Don't kill them," Buu said. "They don't look like bad people." Babidi's face turned a deep red. "You... You dare disobey your master's orders? I'll punish you!" He raised his magic staff and began chanting. Buu's body suddenly shuddered violently, and pain crossed his face. He clutched his head, rolled on the ground, and groaned. "Stop!" Goku rushed forward and punched Babidi's staff out of his hands. Babidi fell to the ground and stared at Goku in terror. "You... you dare—" "Shut up," Goku said coldly. "If you hurt him again, I'll kill you." Babidi went deathly pale and scrambled out of the control room.
Buu stopped trembling. He sat up and looked at Goku, curiosity flashing in his eyes. "You... you saved me?" Goku crouched down to meet Buu's gaze. "Are you okay?" Buu tilted his head and studied Goku carefully. Then he suddenly laughed, like a child. "You're a good person," Buu said. "I like you."
Goku smiled too. "Thanks. Your name is Buu?" "Mm," Buu nodded. "Buu. Majin Buu." He stood up and looked around. The control room walls were covered in screens showing views outside the ship—ruins, wasteland, and a city in the distance. Buu gazed at the city lights, longing in his eyes. "It's... so bright there," Buu said. "Are there lots of people?" "Yes," Goku said. "That's a city. Lots of people live there." "Buu wants to go see," Buu said. "Buu wants to see lots of people."
He turned toward the door, then suddenly stopped and looked back at Goku. "What's your name?" "Son Goku."
"Son Goku," Buu repeated, smiling even more brightly. "Buu will remember you." He left the control room and disappeared down the corridor. Everyone looked at one another.
East Supreme Kai's face had gone deathly pale. "You... How could you let him go? He's Majin Buu! The most evil being in the universe!" "He doesn't seem evil," Goku said.
"That's an act!" East Supreme Kai said agitatedly. "Majin Buu's evil is in his very bones! He seems friendly now, but if he's angered, he'll turn into the most terrifying demon!" "Have you seen it yourself?" Kashu asked. East Supreme Kai was silent for a moment, then nodded. "Millions of years ago, I joined several other Supreme Kais to fight Majin Buu. It was the bloodiest battle in the universe." The five Supreme Kais—me, West Supreme Kai, North Supreme Kai, South Supreme Kai, and Grand Supreme Kai—had joined forces against Buu. But Buu was too strong. South Supreme Kai was absorbed, North Supreme Kai was killed, West Supreme Kai was swallowed, and Grand Supreme Kai was... was fused into Buu's body."
He looked at his hands, his voice trembling. "I was the only one who escaped. Buu thought I was too weak to bother killing." Everyone fell silent.

That form is called... Evil Buu." Kashu thought for a moment. "We have two choices. First, destroy him while he's still docile. Second, try to befriend him and make sure he never turns into that evil form." "Befriend him?" East Supreme Kai said incredulously. "Are you joking? That's Majin Buu! He's not a pet you can tame!" "Why not try?" Kashu said. "He just refused Babidi's order because he thought killing people was wrong. That means he can think for himself. He isn't pure evil; he's an individual with his own awareness." East Supreme Kai was about to say something, but Goku spoke first.
"I agree with Kashu," Goku said. "Buu doesn't seem like a bad person. I want to give him a chance." Vegeta snorted. "You're both crazy. But I don't care; I can beat him anyway." Gohan looked at his father and Kashu, then finally nodded. "I agree too." East Supreme Kai sighed. "You... You'll regret this."
