The massacre continued. The Ha-Ghost Clan was numerous, numbering around a hundred. To mobilize a small unit of a hundred or so people with various heavy firearms in a place like New York, they truly needed a reliable force behind them.
In a metropolis like this, countless eyes were watching. Without a background to erase traces, there was no hope for a good outcome.
Although the glasses man inwardly hated the forces behind him, he felt that his loyalty was being repaid by being discarded like trash, which chilled him to the bone.
If the glasses man knew that satellites were also watching from above, he would likely have despaired even more.
He was a pawn. The vampires didn't even bother to conceal his movements, brazenly sending him out.
Many major powers silently monitored the situation's progress through satellites. They watched scene after scene, viewing this small-scale battle as a slaughterhouse, incredibly bloody. Several large metal figures were like reapers, cutting down lives row by row, with few even managing to keep their bodies intact.
Those who were lucky enough to survive, pathetically held their severed limbs and let out tragic laughs on the spot, having no will to live.
Everyone who saw this scene gasped. They weren't inexperienced with warfare, but such a brutal scene still made them extremely wary. This Mechanic's abilities were very strange, and his attacks were becoming increasingly ruthless, showing no regard for the lives of his enemies.
"How did he become like this, his attacks becoming more and more brutal..." Nick Fury watched the images transmitted by the satellite, rubbing his forehead. "He was a good citizen with no criminal record, yet he's becoming more decisive and ruthless. It seems he has an astonishing ability to adapt to this kind of thing. I thought after spending some time with Charles, he would have been influenced and become more restrained..."
"Then when do you plan to visit him?" Coulson remained as gentle as ever; this scene hadn't caused him much shock. When Donnie woke up in the hospital, he had already keenly noticed the young man's composure. He wasn't flustered by his sudden entry into the supernatural world.
His calmness was almost abnormal. After much thought, Coulson could only attribute it to a numb indifference stemming from the sudden, drastic changes in his family and life.
"Arrange a helicopter for me. I'm going now." Fury was always decisive. He wanted to act immediately and wait at Donnie's home. It wouldn't seem out of place, especially since there was still an old bartender at Donnie's place. That location had already been heavily surrounded by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, making it impossible for any vampire or Ha-Ghost Clan member to get in.
Donnie sat in the center, letting the Transformers charge down and scatter the Ha-Ghost Clan, striking terror into their hearts and leaving them in perpetual fear. Even if some managed to survive, they would likely be left with a lifelong nightmare. Even if they escaped, they probably wouldn't dare to oppose Donnie again in this lifetime.
But Donnie didn't intend to let them go. In his eyes, the Ha-Ghost Clan was even more detestable than vampires. Vampires were enemies; it was understandable that enemies would use any means to deal with him. But the Ha-Ghost Clan? They were collaborators, always ready to stab him in the back.
"Die, die, I'll blow you up!"
A Ha-Ghost Clan member feigning death patiently waited for Donnie. He was strapped with explosives, intending to carry out a suicide attack to blow up Donnie, the controller. He found the right moment, burst out, rushed to a position very close to Donnie, and resolutely detonated the bomb.
With a loud explosion, Donnie was sent tumbling by the sudden, massive blast, covered in dust and grime.
Many surviving Ha-Ghost Clan members looked on with hopeful eyes, but their hope was quickly dashed. Donnie coughed and stood up as if nothing had happened, only appearing a bit disheveled. He was covered in small Transformer armor, which, combined with his increasingly powerful physique, was enough to protect him.
"I was careless... I must learn from this..." Donnie shot back, blasting another collaborator who had rushed them to death, his expression calm. He was trying to summarize his gains and losses, ensuring he wouldn't make the same mistake next time. Even the smallest individuals could create unbelievable miracles; history had told him this countless times.
On the increasingly brutal battlefields at all levels, he didn't have many opportunities to make mistakes and reflect. In a confrontation with some powerful figure, a single oversight could be fatal.
Donnie was aware of his shortcomings. He forced himself to grow rapidly, shedding his past naive innocence. He had to observe his surroundings with the utmost caution.
Amidst the gunfire, a car turned and fled at the forefront, accelerating to its maximum in mere seconds, abandoning the others to escape alone.
A few Ha-Ghost Clan members still alive on the ground cursed loudly. They were desperate. Their bloody battle had been met with betrayal and abandonment by their own people, the most effective way to crush their fighting spirit.
Donnie no longer needed to act. They had lost their will to fight as warriors. When their leaders had abandoned them and fled, what else was there to fight for?
Some began to get up, dropping their weapons, and kneeling on the ground with their hands raised in surrender. The remaining dozen survivors followed suit, kneeling and raising their hands. This was a universally understood gesture, a common language across all species, practically cosmic common tongue.
Donnie hesitated for a moment, but then hardened his heart and opened fire.
The last dozen Ha-Ghost Clan members fell in pools of blood, their eyes wide open, filled with disbelief and despair.
"If you were vampires, perhaps I would have accepted your surrender. But you are collaborators."
Donnie muttered to himself, sighing softly. He felt incredibly hypocritical saying that. He knew in his heart that it was nonsense. Even if a vampire truly surrendered to him, he would act even more decisively, without a hint of hesitation. Vampires reproduced at an astonishing rate. An unchecked vampire could quickly raise a vampire army, and new vampires could then convert more humans into vampires, causing the vampire population to explode geometrically.
The glasses man's car sped madly. He constantly urged the driver to go faster, feeling uneasy and not even daring to look back. He just kept urging the driver to speed up. He was terrified that a few shells would be fired from behind and blow him to pieces; then everything would be over.
Donnie indeed intended to do just that. He narrowed his eyes, and one of Optimus Prime's arms immediately assembled into a massive cannon barrel. Inside the barrel, a huge metal slug had already formed. Even if it didn't explode, being hit by this thing would shatter him into pieces.
He aimed at the retreating shadow, the car kicking up a cloud of dust.
Just then, a figure appeared without warning, greatly surprising Donnie!
Someone had moved faster than Donnie! So fast that it was impossible to see what it was!
Almost instantly, time seemed to freeze at that moment. The glasses man and his driver were thrown in front of Donnie, their faces etched with bewildered expressions. The car that had been speeding away was still moving, but it quickly lost control and overturned on the roadside.
"Are you that so-called Mechanic?" A silver-haired youth appeared before Donnie in an instant, as if spatial distance was a joke to him. His speed was countless times faster than a bullet, and every action he took was completed instantaneously.
Everything in the world appeared to be in slow motion to him.
He crossed his arms, tilted his chin, and looked at people askance, which was very annoying.
"The old man specifically told me to look out for you. From now on, you're my subordinate." The silver-haired youth was arrogant, looking at people with a sideways glance as if despising them, his chin raised so high it was almost touching the sky.
