Realm Overview

Golden Core cultivators are major powers among ordinary cultivators. In the Northern Lands, the top-tier Extreme Yin Sect is noted for having four Golden Core cultivators, while its sect master, Old Ancestor Extreme Yin, has reached Golden Core Completion despite possessing only dual-spirit-root aptitude 2 5. The sect is later destroyed after its corpse-refining practices provoke Old Monster Feng's retaliation; True Person Corpse Heart escapes, while Old Ancestor Extreme Yin loses the sect's ancestral grounds 62.

The Extreme Yin Sect's three lineage masters—those of Corpse Refining, Soul Refining, and Blood Refining—are all Golden Core cultivators 3. Nevertheless, Golden Core experts remain subordinate to Nascent Soul powers: the nine Golden Core elders overseeing the Li Fire Secret Realm respectfully defer to the arriving Nascent Soul True Lords, and Li Mingyuan is immediately suppressed by Ten Thousand Immortal City's Nascent Soul City Lord 73.

The realm is reached by condensing liquid spiritual power within the dantian into a solid Golden Core. Once formed, the core provides magical power more than ten times greater than the cultivator's former liquid spiritual power 80 82.

A core's appearance can reflect the cultivator's magical power and cultivation method rather than being literally golden. Zhao Hao initially forms a pigeon's-egg-sized crimson core wreathed in faint flames; after he converts to the Crimson Gold Burning Heaven Art, golden veins appear across its surface. His alternate self possesses a five-colored core with harmonized five-element power and magical power far exceeding that of an ordinary Golden Core cultivator 82 86 262. As Zhao Hao advances through Late Stage and Completion, his core grows, reaches its limit, and develops intricate flame patterns 123 124.

Golden Core is also the realm normally associated with Minor Divine Abilities. Foundation Establishment cultivators may plant Divine Ability seeds through ancient secret arts, but those seeds generally hatch only when their owner forms a core 51.

Golden Core Formation Pills are valuable breakthrough resources for Foundation Establishment Perfection cultivators. Low-grade pills increase the chance of forming a core by twenty percent, while supreme-grade pills can increase it by fifty percent 42. The Golden Core Formation Pill is classified as a peak second-tier pill 60.

Cultivation methods can also improve breakthrough prospects. Major mastery of the Mysterious Yin Essence Condensation Art allows a cultivator to condense a Yin Baleful Crystal, a substance between liquid and solid spiritual power that increases the chance of Golden Core formation by ten percent. Its drawback is that the resulting Yin Baleful Qi marks the practitioner as a demonic cultivator and can be detected by righteous-path screening treasures 30.

Although the realm is a dominant level in smaller cultivation regions, Golden Core Completion is not an absolute universal limit. In the Blood Spirit Realm, however, the small world's restrictions prevent cultivators from sensing a Nascent Soul breakthrough opportunity until they leave it 124 128.

Advancing beyond Golden Core begins with shattering the core and forming the Nascent Soul. Despite its name, this step does not require literally breaking the core apart: the cultivator softens and reshapes it into a Nascent Soul capable of housing their soul. Zhao Hao accomplishes this by placing his crimson core into a fluid state and molding it with divine sense into the likeness of his former self 126 127.

Golden Core Tribulation

Advancing into the Golden Core Realm requires passing three trials 80.

The lightning trial is also called the Ninefold Lightning Tribulation, consisting of nine increasingly powerful bolts. During Zhao Hao's breakthrough, the ninth bolt possesses power comparable to a full-force attack from a Golden Core Middle Stage cultivator 83.

A cultivator who passes the lightning tribulation receives Tribulation Golden Light, a gift of heaven and earth that cleanses the body, nourishes the divine soul, and can catalyze a Divine Ability seed into a Minor Divine Ability 80.

Zhao Hao's own breakthrough illustrates the trials' sequence. After condensing his crimson Golden Core, he destroys an Outer Realm Heavenly Demon avatar during the heart-demon trial, then endures the lightning tribulation and absorbs an exceptional amount of Tribulation Golden Light 82 83. He uses the perfected Ten Thousand Sword Technique to destroy the first eight lightning bolts and weaken the ninth, then shatters its remaining power with a Vitality Energy-infused punch 83.

Heart-demon trials can involve actual Heavenly Demon invasions rather than merely spontaneous inner doubts. The avatar destroyed during Zhao Hao's trial is a Golden Core avatar created by a Nascent Soul Heavenly Demon at the cost of its origin. Later, Zhao Hao uses Moro's avatar to invade Lin Fan immediately after the latter condenses his core, trapping him in an elaborate modern-life illusion until Zhao Hao himself breaks it 83 135.

Tribulation Platforms and Golden Light Collection

Linyuan City's Spirit Mansion Bureau rents designated Tribulation Platforms that provide secluded locations and protective formations. Zhao Hao rents Li-Position No. 1 Platform, situated on a fire-rich island three hundred li south of the city, for twenty thousand Low-grade Spirit Stones. Such facilities provide security but do not remove the requirement to face the lightning trial directly 80.

The platforms also use formations to collect scattered Tribulation Golden Light. This light is a scarce strategic resource used as a main ingredient in many third-tier healing pills and as an aid to Divine Ability comprehension. Its value can provoke predation: Zhou Wuji previously seized the golden light of a newly advanced clan cultivator and later attempts to do the same to Zhao Hao 80 86.

Abilities & Significance

Minor Divine Ability Access

Minor Divine Abilities are considered the true dividing line between Golden Core cultivators; not every Golden Core cultivator has successfully comprehended one 106 110.

• Crimson Li Karma Fire — a causality-based fire that can be prepared as a Divine Ability seed before Golden Core, then mature after core formation 51.
• Red Lotus Karmic Fire — Zhao Hao's eighth-grade Minor Divine Ability, evolved from his Karmic Fire Spirit Seed after it absorbed Tribulation Golden Light; it can bind and burn divine souls. Zhao Hao later strengthens it to the ninth grade and eventually combines it with the Causality Rule to produce the stronger Chaos Karmic Fire 83 84 128 278.
• Earth-Li Origin Flame — a direct fire-attribute offensive Minor Divine Ability cultivated by Zhao Hao after his Golden Core tribulation. Hatched from his sixth-grade Earth-Li Spirit Seed using leftover Tribulation Golden Light, it provides an offensive option against inanimate targets such as puppets and formations, against which Red Lotus Karmic Fire is less useful 86.
• Fire Spirit Affinity — Zhao Hao's innate fire-attribute Divine Ability, initially acquired with his Fire Spirit Body. It accelerates his absorption and control of fire spiritual qi, helps him draw in Tribulation Golden Light, and rises to the ninth grade alongside his Top-grade Fire Spirit Body, enabling him to forcibly gather fire spiritual qi across a vast area 69 83 124.
• Golden Eyes — a sixth-grade Minor Divine Ability acquired through Golden Roc bloodline refinement; it can perceive formation nodes, break illusions, and launch extremely rapid golden-light attacks 96 97. It remains useful far beyond Golden Core: Zhao Hao later combines its ninth-grade form with the perfected Causality Rule, while Xiao Gu uses it to examine Body Integration cultivators' true forms and law power 280 287 288.
• Golden Roc Spreads Wings — a sixth-grade movement Minor Divine Ability that grants Zhao Hao flight far faster than conventional flying-sword travel. It is later strengthened through the seventh and eighth grades to the ninth grade, allowing extreme-speed long-distance movement when used with Golden Eyes 96 97 125 128 129.
• Mystic Armor Protection — a sixth-grade defensive Minor Divine Ability that manifests protective light armor around its user 96 98.
• Camouflage — a sixth-grade concealment Minor Divine Ability enhanced from a Coral Beast bloodline ability; it allows Zhao Hao to blend into his surroundings and conceal his presence 96 129. After reaching Nascent Soul, he raises it to the ninth grade with Azure-Winged White Tiger essence blood and Tribulation Golden Light to conceal his demonic aura within Ye Wuchen 147.
• Rapid Digestion — a sixth-grade restorative Minor Divine Ability that rapidly digests pills and other spiritual substances to replenish magical power and Vitality Energy 96 97.
• Tribulation Golden Light can be collected for healing-pill refinement, Divine Ability comprehension, and the maturation of Divine Ability seeds 80.

Divine Ability seeds can also be condensed after entering Golden Core, but maturing them may require substantial additional resources. Zhou Wuji spends years gathering materials and more than ten bottles of Tribulation Golden Light for a third-grade seed that has still not hatched when Zhao Hao defeats him 81 86.

Divine Sense and Pressure

Golden Core cultivators can exert immense divine-sense pressure. When one appears within the Li Fire Secret Realm, over a hundred Foundation Establishment cultivators are overwhelmed by the pressure alone 71.

Such pressure can interrupt lower-realm cultivators' spiritual-power circulation. Soul-protecting treasures can mitigate it: Zhao Hao's Soul-Devouring Jade restores his clarity when Li Mingyuan's pressure immobilizes the surrounding Foundation Establishment cultivators 70. A sufficiently advanced Soul-Devouring Jade can also resist heart-demon invasion during a Golden Core breakthrough 56.

A Golden Core cultivator's divine sense can also serve as a powerful tool for controlling magical treasures, probing formations, and suppressing lower-realm opponents. Zhao Hao's advancement and strengthening of the Soul-Devouring Jade substantially improve his divine soul during and after his Golden Core breakthrough 82 103. After five years of cultivation and soul-resource accumulation, Zhao Hao's divine soul approaches the level of a Nascent Soul True Person despite his Mid Golden Core cultivation 103.

Body Cultivation and Bloodline Methods

Golden Core cultivators can substantially reinforce their ability to endure tribulation through body cultivation. Before forming his core, Zhao Hao uses the Blood Spirit Scripture to open all 365 Acupoints and cultivate sufficient Vitality Energy for his body to contend directly with spiritual artifacts; this physical foundation supports his resistance to the lightning tribulation 79 83.

At Golden Core Completion, Zhao Hao perfects the Blood Spirit and Demon Spirit portions of the Heavenly Demon Sacred Art. His 365 Acupoints become capable of containing powerful demon-beast bloodlines, allowing his body and Dharma power to progress together rather than separately 124.

His strengthened bloodline and Vitality Energy suppress the residual wills within these bloodlines, allowing him to fill every major Acupoint and begin blending their powers. He regards this condition as approaching the utmost achievable within Golden Core 124. The subsequent use of these bloodlines to form Dharma Images requires Nascent Soul power, distinguishing that later application from his Golden Core-stage bloodline storage and body refinement 78 157.

Golden Core-Stage Resources

Many high-level resources do not circulate openly through ordinary markets.

• Third-rank alchemy and artifact-refining materials, Divine Ability secret arts, and other Golden Core resources are often exchanged by barter at gatherings of Golden Core cultivators 85.
• Transactions between Golden Core cultivators are commonly conducted in Mid-grade Spirit Stones 86.
• Golden Core trade fairs provide a venue for cultivators to exchange rare bloodlines, spiritual materials, formation items, and other advanced resources 86 87.
• Golden Core Consolidation Pills are sought-after third-rank pills used to stabilize cultivation after a minor-realm breakthrough 87.
• Golden Core cultivators may purchase cultivation methods that lead only to Golden Core Completion, as the complete higher-realm portions of such inheritances are generally tightly controlled 86.
• Third-tier magical treasures are important equipment at this level but remain costly. Some ordinary Golden Core cultivators may never possess even a low-grade third-tier treasure; a supreme-grade third-tier flying sword is worth more than a hundred low-grade third-tier flying swords 101 105.
• Pure spiritual liquid is valuable enough to be used in Golden Core cultivation 26.

Nonhuman and Spectral Cultivators

Golden Core cultivation is not exclusive to living human cultivators.

• Demon beasts and sea races — third-tier Devil Creatures and Golden Core sea-race opponents are the principal high-level threats assigned to Linyuan City's Golden Core defenders during beast tides 107 108.
• Ghost creatures — Li Mingyuan commands an Early Golden Core Ghost King, while Zhao Hao later uses six Early Golden Core ghosts to operate his Ten Thousand Soul Banner and harvest demon beasts 39 109.
• Heavenly Demons — both the invading avatar destroyed during Zhao Hao's tribulation and Zhao Hao's later Heavenly Demon clone possess Golden Core cultivation 83 218.
• Yaksha Race — Zhao Hao later transforms twelve Golden Core Yaksha cultivators into Heavenly Demons and uses them to enhance his elemental physiques 292.

Limitations

• Passing the first two trials does not guarantee success; the lightning tribulation must be faced directly and cannot be evaded through external means 80.
• A Golden Core cultivator is not guaranteed to possess a Minor Divine Ability, even after years in the realm 81 110.
• Golden Core Completion is the highest attainable realm within the Blood Spirit Realm. Zhao Hao cannot sense a Nascent Soul breakthrough opportunity there because of that small world's limitations, though he later advances after leaving that restricted environment 124 128.
• Even a Golden Core cultivator can be vulnerable to superior Divine Abilities, powerful formations, coordinated opponents, and opponents with stronger cultivation bases or magical treasures 89 90 106.
• A powerful bloodline or ancient inherited Divine Ability can let demon beasts exceed the apparent threat of their Golden Core cultivation. A Golden Core Middle Stage Golden Roc's reverted bloodline awakens the Star Eye Divine Ability, allowing it to strike Wan Renli across the battlefield before he can react 90.
• Magical power remains finite. Extended slaughter of low-tier opponents can exhaust a Golden Core cultivator, and high-grade Divine Abilities can impose heavy expenditure; Zhao Hao initially reserves Red Lotus Karmic Fire as a decisive trump card for this reason 86 107.
• Newly advanced cultivators may have unstable foundations, insufficiently developed Divine Abilities, and unfamiliar magical treasures. Fan Jin's recently attained Golden Core cultivation displays an insubstantial aura and sluggish spiritual-power circulation before stabilization 97 98.
• Northern Lands sect warfare is subject to an alliance covenant prohibiting Golden Core cultivators and above from taking action. The covenant is issued by the Spirit Transformation Sacred Land, which threatens to erase a violating sect from the Northern Lands 20.

Documented Golden Core Cultivators

• Old Ancestor Extreme Yin — the Extreme Yin Sect's sect master at the height of its power; a Golden Core Completion cultivator with dual-spirit-root aptitude. He later loses the sect's ancestral grounds when the Extreme Yin Sect is destroyed 2 62.
• True Person Corpse Heart — Zhao Hao's former master and a Golden Core old devil of the Extreme Yin Sect's Corpse Refining Lineage; he escapes following the sect's destruction 10 29 62.
• Old Ancestor Guo — a Golden Core elder of Ten Thousand Immortal City, distinct from its Nascent Soul City Lord; possesses the Li Fire Bright Void Pupil and guides Zhao Hao regarding Divine Ability seeds and Golden Core cultivation 50 51 73.
• Zheng Yao — Linyuan City's garrison deacon and a Mid Golden Core cultivator who hosts the city's Golden Core trade fair 86 89.
• Zhou Wuji — an early-stage Golden Core core disciple of Azure Sea Immortal Palace; attempts to seize Zhao Hao's Tribulation Golden Light and is defeated 80 84.
• Wan Renli — the Early Golden Core chief steward of Linyuan City's Heavenly Sea Merchant Pavilion; joins the Golden Roc Island expedition and is severely wounded by the Golden Roc's Star Eye Divine Ability. He subsequently escapes with Fairy Ruan using a Space Escape Talisman 86 90 91.
• Sun Hao — a Golden Core core disciple of the Azure Sea Immortal Palace's Blood Path lineage who participates in the Golden Roc Island expedition 87 90.
• Fairy Ruan — a third-tier formation master and Golden Core cultivator who deploys the Azure Wood Heaven-Locking Array during the Golden Roc Island expedition 90.
• Fan Jin — a Blood Refining Demonic Sect cultivator who reaches the early Golden Core stage, though his foundation is unstable 97.
• Ye Wuchen — a direct descendant of the Ye Family whose body reaches Golden Core Late Stage Perfection before Zhao Hao transforms him into an avatar and uses the body to enter the Nascent Soul Realm 145 147.
• Zhao Hao — forms a Golden Core after completing all three trials, later advances through Mid and Late Golden Core to Golden Core Completion, then subsequently enters the Nascent Soul Realm 82 83 103 123 124 128.
• Li Mingyuan — the Ten Thousand Soul Hall elder known as the City-Destroying Demon. After losing his body, he escapes as a dim Golden Core and possesses a young cultivator; he later reveals his Golden Core cultivation within the Li Fire Secret Realm 39 71 73.
• Lin Fan — condenses a round, longan-sized Golden Core on a Tribulation Platform and undergoes a Heavenly Demon-induced modern-life illusion during the second trial. He regains his cultivation memories before the lightning tribulation begins; this account does not yet establish completion of all three trials 135.
• Alternate Zhao Hao — a Golden Core Middle Stage patriarch from another world with 108 Dao companions and more than 300 children. His More Children, More Blessings System allows him to copy his children's spiritual roots and develop a five-element heavenly spiritual root. The main Zhao Hao fuses with him, then absorbs the acquired body into his Primordial Spirit, gaining thirty points of Early Void Refinement cultivation progress 260 262 263.
