Huanglong was subjected to repeated bloodline-modification experiments before his rise. His unusually compatible body successfully integrated numerous powerful bloodlines without suffering the full physical mutations normally associated with them. Seeking a means of escape and drawn to the dragon as a personal totem, he consumed an Artificial Azure Dragon Zoan Fruit. 2 6

After going to sea, Huanglong openly declared war on the Celestial Dragons. The World Government responded with a 500 million Belly bounty, while he began planning a North Blue base, the recruitment of Trafalgar Law, and the seizure of Germa 66's cloning technology. 19

He expanded the Desolate Dragon Group through research, recruitment, warfare, and the acquisition of bloodline factors and Devil Fruit abilities.
