Despite his strategic restraint, Dragon is fiercely protective of his family. The destruction of Windmill Village, Garp's capture and execution, and Luffy's possession by Sun God Nika repeatedly drive him into grief, rage, and increasingly desperate decisions. 453 512 625

Interest in Dongye Huanglong
Dragon takes interest in the escaped Punk Hazard experiment subject after his 300 million Belly bounty is issued. He sees Huanglong's hatred of the World Government and Conqueror's Haki as valuable to the Revolutionary Army, though he recognizes that Huanglong will not submit to him. 15
Dragon later spars with Huanglong and teaches him Advanced Conqueror's Haki infusion in exchange for payment. He also proposes cooperation in the war between the Country of Flowers and the Country of Suna. 51 53
Garp's Capture and the Marineford War
After Garp is captured, Dragon asks Huanglong to intervene against Big Mom. Huanglong instead demands blood samples from Dragon, Sabo, and the Revolutionary Army commanders; Dragon accepts on the condition that no Seraphim resembling them are created. 407 408
Dragon rushes to Windmill Village after the World Government's assault devastates its civilians, but arrives too late to prevent Garp's capture. 453 During the Marineford War, he battles Kizaru, pursues Kuromaruten Sei for executing Garp, and leads the Revolutionary Army against the World Government's forces. 493 512 518
Conflict with Kaido and the Shadow Crisis
Dragon joins Huanglong and Kaido in fighting Imu's Níðhöggr Black Dragon, though Huanglong acknowledges the vast gap between their powers. 586 588 Once Huanglong disappears into the Shadow Volcano, Kaido immediately turns on Dragon in pursuit of world domination. 592
Dragon fights alongside the awakened Sun God Nika and kills Kaido after Nika leaves him critically wounded, annihilating Kaido's body to conceal the truth of the battle. 601
Alliance with the World Tree
Believing Huanglong's newly acquired black-dragon power threatens the world, Dragon accepts the World Tree's empowerment and agrees to help strip Huanglong of it. 607 He confronts Huanglong beside the possessed Luffy and declares that neither one person nor Huanglong should be entrusted with the world's safety. 609
Dragon eventually realizes that the World Tree and Sun God Nika have used both him and Luffy as pawns. By then, Nika has fully taken over Luffy's body; it kills Dragon after condemning him as an obstacle to its plan. 625 631
