Isn't this pretty normal for Lucien?
In the Great Hall, Anthony had a brand-new copy of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" spread out in front of him.
He flipped through the preface section, his eyes scanning the text line by line, and soon found the name he wanted to see:
"... Thanks to Lucien Grafton, who provided extremely detailed firsthand observations on the aspects of Magical Creatures behavior covered in this book. As a student of Hogwarts, his keen insight and rigor give me great confidence in the depth of knowledge of the younger generation of wizards..."
Anthony stared at those lines and read them twice.
When he saw Lucien's name under the entry for the Acromantula, he thought he was seeing things and that it was just some wizard with the same name.
But the preface explicitly mentions "students of Hogwarts"—it can't be anyone else.
It really is Lucien!
Anthony couldn't sit still any longer. He leaned forward slightly and excitedly turned his head to share this major discovery with his roommate next to him.
The result? The seat next to me was empty.
I don't know when, but my roommate had already finished eating and left.
Anthony scratched his head.
He gets so engrossed in his reading that he neglects the people and things around him, and his friends are used to it.
Normally, people would say "I'm leaving now," but today, perhaps because he was reading so intently, I didn't want to disturb him.
But at times like these, with no one to share it with, it's really frustrating.
Anthony looked up and scanned the Great Hall.
They tried to find a few familiar faces to share this "big discovery".
His gaze continued to move.
Hey Harry! Come here, I've got something good to show you!
Harry, who was walking past the long table, heard the shout, turned around, and sat down next to Anthony.
He wasn't particularly close to Anthony, but they had a decent relationship— Ravenclaw were the fewest in number and the easiest to remember; Harry had memorized most of the Ravenclaw students' names by his first year.
Harry and Anthony had previously complained about Lockhart's teaching methods, so they had some kind of relationship.
"Have you found another treasure trove of books, Anthony?" Harry asked with a smile, looking at the books spread out in front of Anthony.
"You guessed right, it really is a treasure." Anthony's tone was filled with barely suppressed excitement.
He pushed the book in front of Harry, his finger pointing precisely to the name on the preface page.
"Look, here--"
As Harry looked down to look, Anthony quickly flipped to the section on the Acromantula and tapped the footnote at the bottom of the page.
Then he looked up at Harry expectantly, waiting to see the shocked expression on Harry's face.
result...
Harry acted as if it were nothing out of the ordinary, and even raised his gaze to begin reading the text.
Anthony was stunned.
"Harry, aren't you surprised at all?"
Harry looked up and thought for a moment.
He wasn't actually that surprised.
Because he already knew that Lucien knew Newt Scamander, and that the two had a close relationship.
Harry himself had a copy of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" autographed by Newt —it was a gift from Lucien as a prize for his excellent exam results.
Having been a wizard for two years, Harry became increasingly aware of the significance and popularity of Newt's name in the Wizarding World.
The value of that signed book far exceeds that of ordinary printed materials.
No wonder Ron and Malfoy were so upset when he and Hermione got the signed books, as if they had missed out on a huge treasure.
But then again, given Lucien's extensive knowledge of Magical Creatures, is there really anything he doesn't know?
It seems like... there's an elective course next semester that's related to Magical Creatures?
How about we try applying next semester?
"Harry? Harry?" Anthony's voice pulled him back from his thoughts.
"Oh, sorry," Harry said, snapping out of his reverie. "I just thought... it seems pretty normal for Lucien?"
Anthony opened his mouth, instinctively wanting to say, "What's normal about it?"
Is it normal for young wizards our age to dare to approach and observe dangerous creatures like the Acromantula, or is it normal for the data they record to be recognized by Newt Scamander, the most authoritative Magizoology, and included in his book...?
But Anthony swallowed the words back down his throat, because he suddenly remembered the scenes of Lucien slaying the Basilisk and being awarded the Order of Merlin, First Class.
Yes, actually Lucien is already a celebrity...
I was so focused on reading that I temporarily forgot that my classmate had already done many things that were "normal" to him.
