Background / History

Newt was expelled from Hogwarts after a Magical Creature he kept injured someone, although he had accepted responsibility for a friend who was actually involved. The incident left him determined not to let Lucien face similar consequences for keeping dangerous creatures. 164

By the novel’s events, Newt has largely retired from public life but continues traveling internationally to rescue, study, relocate, and protect Magical Creatures.
