Background / History

Vivian was an ordinary apprentice at Mensis Wizard Academy with modest starting aptitude: 8 points of spiritual power and second-grade meditation talent. She worked as a receptionist at the General Affairs Hall, where her position gave her access to research materials but did not free her from the financial pressures facing ordinary apprentices. Her monthly subsidy left her unable to reliably fund costly experiments within the six-month freshman-research period. 9 10

She secretly pursued Corpse Dissolving Powder, a formula she later admitted did not come from a proper source. The research required a Three-Headed Hound fang and a Vampire King's Nail. Desperate to secure the first material, Vivian prepared a counterfeit fang and switched it for the genuine item purchased by Ahab Gul, risking expulsion and severe contribution penalties. 9 16 36

Vivian was also a believer of the Void. Through Spirit Vision, she perceived sins upon others and gained faith by judging sinners. Her Void Authority, See Through, enabled her to render opposing sorcery intangible, allowing her lightning attacks to bypass magical defenses. After escaping Ahab's confinement by breaking her own left forearm, Vivian pursued Loghart for a Vampire King's Nail. Her killing of Loghart exposed her as a Void believer. She fled Mensis Academy with the assistance of a stronger cultist and was later located in a primeval forest on the Wizard Continent. During the ensuing confrontation, she struck Ahab with four lightning attacks after repeatedly phasing through his ice spells. Ahab survived through his Withered Wood Guardian bloodline, captured her with withered vines, and forced her to relinquish See Through. He then killed her despite having sworn to release her unharmed. 21 25

After enduring three days and four nights without sleep, she broke her own arm to escape restraint and immediately rushed to compete for the Vampire King's Nail rather than rest. She was also capable of acting decisively against those she judged sinful, killing Loghart after identifying him as responsible for 67 lives. 13 14 16 17

Vivian was quick-tempered and proud, particularly in her hostility toward Ahab. However, she could restrain herself when obtaining research materials or preserving her Void identity required it.
