Background / History

Fields rescued Lin Hanxuan from the Misera Empire. His influence—alongside Lei Wang's advocacy—made Lin Hanxuan politically valuable to the Yi Family, which hoped to use Fields's standing among the beast races to repair its own relations with them 3.

He is highly respected by beastfolk; chiefs of many tribes call him brother. Although human, he is regarded as an important figure close to the Lei Family and capable of exerting major influence within the Thunder Eagle Empire 3.

Fields and imperial princess Lei Xiaoqing were separated for twenty years after she left Dead City to fulfill her duty guarding the region near the World Tree. She remains his beloved wife, though she carries guilt over their separation 7 8.

He is cautious around unknown magic, refusing to fly directly beneath the double summoning formation over Axon Town until he understands its purpose 20. His treatment of Shafu shows empathy and pragmatism: rather than dismissing her grief, he apologizes for her loss, offers her family relocation to Dead City, and explains why revenge will not restore her brother 24.

Fields harbors strong distrust toward the Yi Family. On discovering that Lin Hanxuan had been sent to a temporary encampment, he angrily concluded that the family was targeting Lin Hanxuan because it could not confront him directly 31.

Axon Town and Peiganbo Incident

Fields arrives at Axon Town with Dahei while Kubaka and Peiganbo duel. He observes the locust swarm and the unfamiliar double magic formation from above, then witnesses colored frogs fall from it and eliminate the locusts 19 20.

After Peiganbo agrees to become Lin Hanxuan's familiar, Fields reveals Lin Hanxuan's original name, Yang Zhao, enabling the successful taming 23. He subsequently takes responsibility for the consequences of Peiganbo's earlier killing, persuades Shafu to consider life beyond revenge, and arranges for Peiganbo to live in Rotting Swamp Forest rather than at the academy 24 25.

Fox Territory and Military Encampment

Fields flies to Fox Territory to bring Shafu's family to Dead City, but they refuse to leave their ancestral home. Returning to Dead City, he finds Lin Hanxuan's letter stating that the Yi Family sent him and Hal to a temporary encampment; Fields reacts with anger and suspicion 27 31.

Imperial Inquiry

Fields arrives to take Lin Hanxuan and Hal back to school, but learns that Lin Hanxuan was sent to the encampment by imperial order. Rather than act rashly, Fields chooses to visit the imperial capital and seek clarification directly from the emperor 32.
