Background / History

Yi Junze and her brother, Yi Jun'en, were not born into the Yi Family. They were given to Emperor Lei Ming by the beastfolk prophet Chihanet and subsequently adopted into the Yi Family. Junze was raised as its “second young master,” concealing her sex from nearly everyone around her. 33 34

Chihanet placed an illusion restriction on her that prevents her from returning to her original appearance. The restriction was intended to identify the prophesied “savior” through Junze's eventual connection to that person, making her feel that she had been treated as a tool rather than an individual. 34

Although Yi Tianxing instructed her to monitor Lin Hanxuan after he joined the Yi Family, Junze instead developed a genuine friendship with him. She had sought companionship outside the isolating expectations attached to her position within the family. 7 34
