Background / History

Tang Wulin first appears at the Blacksmith Association when he enters Mu Chen's office to receive his blacksmith's badge. Xu Yue immediately recognizes him and reacts with intense, uncontrollable fury, staring at Tang Wulin's forehead despite there being no visible mark at the time 27.

After learning Xu Yue's achievements, Tang Wulin is shaken and begins questioning his own talent. Cen Yue's explanation of Xu Yue's Soul Master and blacksmith progress makes Tang Wulin compare himself unfavorably to Xu Yue 28.

During Xu Yue's battle against Guang Biao, Tang Wulin watches Xu Yue suppress a Soul Emperor and becomes bitter about the gap between them. Inside Tang Wulin's sea of spirit, Tang San—using the alias Old Tang—reassures him that the dragon within his body is both dangerous and an opportunity, urging him to break the first Golden Dragon King seal with spirit fruits 35.

Tang Wulin initially hesitates to involve the Tang Sect because his adoptive parents, Tang Ziran and Lang Yue, were taken by a mysterious organization. Tang San persuades him to trust Wu Zhangkong, who comes from Shrek and has ties to the Tang Sect 35 37.

In the class promotion match, Tang Wulin is overwhelmed by Xu Yue despite having broken the first seal. After Xu Yue lowers his Jade Shield and the match seems decided, Tang Wulin attacks from behind with Golden Dragon Claw, injuring Xu Yue and triggering Xu Yue's destructive rage 42.

Tang Wulin is later hospitalized and unconscious. Wu Zhangkong visits him and reflects that he may have put too much pressure on Wulin. That night, Di Tian appears in the hospital room to extract Tang Wulin's Golden Dragon power, but Tang San's divine consciousness awakens through Tang Wulin's body and drives Di Tian away 47.

Tang Wulin later tries to apologize to Xu Yue and resolve their conflict. Xu Yue refuses, stating that he has a life-and-death blood feud with Tang Wulin's father—not Tang Ziran, but Tang San. Tang San then takes control of Tang Wulin's body and confronts Xu Yue directly 51 52.

During the battle between Tang San and Xu Yue, Tang Wulin's body is used as Tang San's vessel. Xu Yue's gravity powers overwhelm Tang San's attacks, and Tang San ultimately escapes by activating the Golden Dragon King Divine Core. After this incident, the Divine Core is no longer with Tang Wulin, greatly lowering his value in Gu Yue's eyes 54 56 57 61.

Personality

Tang Wulin is humble enough to recognize the gap between himself and Xu Yue after the promotion match. When Wu Zhangkong speaks with him during recovery, Tang Wulin admits that relying on his first seal, low soul power, and Golden Dragon Claw was not enough to defeat someone who could fight a Soul Emperor 51.

He is reluctant to use dishonorable tactics. When Tang San suggests striking after Xu Yue's shield disappears, Tang Wulin immediately refuses, even though he is desperate to win the match 42.

Tang Wulin is strongly affected by promises and responsibility. His attack in the promotion match is driven by his promise to Wu Zhangkong and Old Tang's repeated teaching that persistence matters until the final moment 36 42.
