Background / History

Tang San is the Sea God, the ancestor of the Tang Sect, and the son of Tang Hao and A Yin. In the current era, a strand of his divine consciousness remains within his son Tang Wulin, where he adopts the identity of “Old Tang” while guiding the boy’s cultivation. 35 36 47

Xu Yue holds Tang San responsible for the Abyss invasion and the deaths of his own parents on its front lines. Although Xu Yue does not blame Tang Wulin for future actions he has not committed, Tang San’s presence within him makes any friendship between the two impossible. 29

The planar consciousness identifies Tang San and A Yin’s family as outsiders who forcibly seized Douluo Star’s authority. It further claims that Tang San has not returned the Sea God authority inherited from the first Sea God, contributing to the plane’s long-term decline. 166

Personality

Tang San presents himself as a patient and encouraging mentor to Tang Wulin, repeatedly stressing confidence, perseverance, and the need to become stronger. He urges Wulin to break the Golden Dragon King bloodline seals and seek Wu Zhangkong’s help in gathering the required spirit fruits. 35 37

His guidance is also highly pragmatic. When Tang Wulin refuses to exploit an opening in Xu Yue’s defense, Tang San becomes irritated and argues that only the final result matters. 42

After recognizing Xu Yue as a Child of the Star whose existence threatens Tang Hao’s control of Douluo Star, Tang San becomes openly hostile. He repeatedly seeks opportunities to kill Xu Yue rather than reconcile the conflict. 43 47 51 53
