Tang San is a transmigrator who retains memories from a previous life. Before enrolling at Nuoding Academy, he had mastered Tang Sect hidden weapons and poisons, and he was confident that his Twin Martial Souls would allow him to make a name for himself on the Douluo Continent 74.

At six, he enters Nuoding Academy as a work-study student and moves into Dormitory Seven. His first battle ends in a decisive defeat to Wang Sheng, whose hundred-year ring and first soul skill overwhelm Tang San despite his Tang Sect techniques 74.

After acquiring his first soul ring, Tang San seeks to overcome the humiliation of losing to Wang Sheng by challenging Lin Ya, the academy's boss. Lin Ya defeats Tang San's Blue Silver Grass entanglement instantly with his aura, further humbling him 83 84.

By age twelve, Tang San reaches level 32 and absorbs a two-thousand-year Man Faced Demon Spider soul ring, gaining the Eight Spider Lances as an External Soul Bone. Later, he contests Meng Yiran's New Interception Sect for the right to use the Tang Sect name, treating the conflict as a fight for his inheritance and legacy 263 264 265.

Tang San loses the hidden-weapons competition to Meng Yiran and, under the terms of their wager, loses the right to call himself Tang Sect. He nevertheless refuses to abandon his claim internally and vows that he will one day challenge Meng Yiran again to reclaim the name 266 267.

After the original Shrek Academy becomes unable to sustain itself financially, Flender and Yu Xiaogang relocate to Heaven Dou City and obtain support through Liu Erlong's Blue Tyrant Academy, which is renamed Shrek Academy. During the tournament finals, Tang San unveils his Clear Sky Hammer through Shrek's Seven-in-One Fusion Skill. Despite the potential of his Twin Martial Souls, he and the other Shrek members are overwhelmed by Huo Wu, an eighty-fourth-level Soul Douluo, forcing Yu Xiaogang to surrender on their behalf 321 322.

After the tournament, Spirit Hall ambushes the retreating Heaven Dou contingent specifically to eliminate Tang San. The Golden Iron Triangle's fusion skill cannot withstand Devil Bear Douluo, and Tang San's final hidden-weapon attack fails to pierce the Super Douluo's defenses. Devil Bear Douluo kills Tang San with a casual strike 330 331 332.

The Shura God considers saving Tang San after his death, having regarded him as a possible successor, but abandons the intervention when the God of Destruction and Life Goddess prevent him from violating divine rules 331.

Their confrontation develops into a divine battle in which Tang San's control techniques and offensive divine skills fail. After detonating nine divine rings and using Sea God's Twilight, he is overwhelmed by Lin Ya's Annihilation Thunderball. His Sea God armor shatters and his divine body is severely damaged. The Power of Rewarding Good and Punishing Evil intervenes to save him, allowing him to escape to the God Realm and vow to return with Shura God power 418 419.

Tang San receives treatment from the Water God and appears at an emergency God Realm meeting in Shura God Attire after fusing with Xiao Wu. He suspects the God of Destruction's involvement in his injuries and challenges the contradictory accounts given by Destruction and the Life Goddess. Unable to risk another confrontation while injured, he withdraws to recover and asks Ji Dong to summon the Shrek Seven Monsters for protection. The conflict subsequently escalates into battle between Tang San and the God of Destruction, while the Shrek Seven Monsters fight the Original Sin Gods 420 458.

After that battle ends, the God of Destruction continues to deny having attacked him in the mortal world. Tang San concludes that another powerful being is concealed there and descends again, avoiding direct contact with Lin Ya. He instead supports Shrek's tournament team against the Lin Ya-backed Dou Ling Academy, distributing immortal herbs grown in his Divine Realm medicinal garden and giving Ma Xiaotao a God-Given Soul Ring 463.

Tang San reveals Wang Dong's identity as his daughter, Tang Wutong, and tries to have Huo Yuhao claim the Lovesick Heartbreak Red. Huo Yuhao hesitates because he suspects Tang San is manipulating his fate, and the flower refuses him. After Tang Wutong points out that Huo Yuhao has no girlfriend, Tang San changes his approach and gives him the Aromatic Silk Beauty and Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew 463 464.

The tournament becomes a proxy conflict between Tang San and Lin Ya. Despite Shrek's strengthened lineup and Tang San's eventual intervention, Dou Ling wins the championship under the Little Snow Maiden's leadership. Tang San retreats after sensing Lin Ya nearby, sounds the Divine Realm's alarm, and warns the assembled gods that Lin Ya has overwhelmed his Sea God power. He, Lie Yan, and Ji Dong suspect Lin Ya may be the Creation Dragon God, and more than a hundred gods gather in response 464 468 470.

Personality

Tang San is proud of the Tang Sect's legacy and deeply invested in proving himself through its hidden weapons. His early defeats affect him severely: after losing to Wang Sheng, he doubts himself, and Meng Yiran's superiority in hidden weapons drives him into a brief collapse 74 266.

He remains stubbornly determined after setbacks. He challenges Lin Ya to confront his prior shame and vows to reclaim the Tang Sect name after losing his bet against Meng Yiran 83 267.

Tang San is intensely competitive and prone to internalizing defeat. Lin Ya's effortless victory over him becomes his greatest inner demon, which Shi Nian exploits in an illusion designed to break his will 307 308.

Despite his fears and repeated setbacks, Tang San does not abandon his companions when faced with certain death. Surrounded by Spirit Hall forces and unable to escape, he chooses to make one final attack in the name of the Tang Sect 331.

Tang San's parallel-world divine counterpart is vigilant and politically capable. Rather than descend without sanction, he invokes his twin divine authority and seeks a formal vote from the God Realm Committee before investigating Lin Ya's suspected influence on the lower realm 410 411.

His divine status also encourages considerable confidence in his superiority. His accuracy nonetheless impresses Meng Shu, who offers him a recommendation to join the New Interception Sect and suggests he might eventually qualify as an Upper Root Vessel 266.

Continental Soul Master Tournament

As Shrek Academy's vice captain, Tang San leads the team into the Continental Soul Master Tournament at level 37. Shrek is defeated by the far stronger Heaven Dou Academy, and Tang San later reveals his Clear Sky Hammer through the Seven-in-One Fusion Skill during the finals. Huo Wu decisively defeats the Shrek team, compelling Yu Xiaogang to surrender 301 303 321 322.

Tang San meets Lin Ya high above Star Luo City and questions his identity. Although confident in his own twin divine status, he cannot perceive Lin Ya's aura, while Lin Ya has already detected him 416 417.

Tang San's divine skills fail to control or injure his opponent. Sun of the Sea is annihilated by black divine thunder, and Tang San increasingly suspects that he is facing Destruction's power. With Xiao Wu absent, he cannot supplement his Sea God abilities with Shura God power 418.

His final attempt detonates nine divine rings to unleash Sea God's Twilight, but Lin Ya's Annihilation Thunderball destroys the attack and gravely damages his divine body. Tournament Proxy War

Tang San returns to the mortal world and supports Shrek's weakened team against Dou Ling Academy, whose backing by Lin Ya gives him a way to oppose his enemy without immediately confronting him. His divine-grown immortal herbs transform the team's prospects, including granting Ma Xiaotao Ultimate Fire and helping Bei Bei and Xu Sanshi reach Soul King 463 464.

He also reveals Tang Wutong's identity and attempts to test Huo Yuhao's feelings through the Lovesick Heartbreak Red. Huo Yuhao's suspicion of divine manipulation causes him to hesitate, and Tang San replaces the failed gift with two other herbs 463 464.
