Toby and the bearded man walked toward the latter's car with smiles on their faces, as familiar as though they were visiting a friend they had known for years.
If not for the AK pressed against the back of Toby's head, the two would have looked even more like friends.
Once they reached the car, the bearded man's previously gentle smile immediately changed.
"Now, tell me your bank card number and PIN, or the guy behind you will blow your brains out!"
"Tell me, and I might consider letting you, you American idiot, go!"
At the bearded man's signal, the lackey behind Toby, whose gun barrel was pressed to his head, immediately chambered a round to show they meant business.
Click—
Hearing the sound of death behind him, Toby showed no fear at all. He merely said, "You and I both know that's impossible. Even if I tell you the PIN, you definitely won't let me go, will you?"
The bearded man grinned. "That's right. But you have no other choice, do you?"
"Is that so? But I think... I actually do!"
Slap—
Toby swung a backhand at a speed so fast the bearded man couldn't even see it clearly. The force of the slap tore apart half the face of the lackey behind him who had been aiming a gun at him, sending the man's head spinning several times on his neck!
The bearded man:!
Before the bearded man and his other lackeys could fire, Toby—who had already memorized every terrorist's position—crossed his hands and shot several strands of webbing from either side of his body, accurately binding every terrorist surrounding him except the bearded man!
He then grabbed all the webs with his left hand and yanked hard, pulling every bound terrorist into the air and toward himself, while his right hand clenched into a fist and swung out in a wide arc!
Splat! Splat! Splat! Splat—
After several consecutive piercing sounds, the terrorists Toby had dragged back were skewered on his arm like candied hawthorn sticks!
The difference was that candied hawthorn dripped syrup, while they dripped blood.
Casually shaking off the accessories clinging unwillingly to his arm, Toby raised his bloodstained hand, grabbed the bearded man by his hairy neck, and lifted him into the air with a smile.
"Now, I ask, and you answer. Okay?"
The bearded man kicked wildly in midair. He glanced behind Toby and forced out through gritted teeth, "Okay my ass! Go to hell, you American bastard!"
Click!
A crisp chambering sound rang out. Without even looking back, Toby knew it was the mounted machine gun on the jeep being readied.
Naturally, Toby had noticed that there was still a driver inside their jeep.
It simply did not pose any threat to him.
Holding the bearded man up with one hand and gripping the underside of the bearded man's jeep with the other, Toby unleashed strength three times that of an ordinary Spider-Man. He actually hurled the entire jeep faster than the terrorist atop the other jeep could pull the trigger!
Boom—
The two vehicles collided, and a deafening explosion instantly sent flames soaring into the sky!
As a real man, Toby naturally had no intention of turning around to look at the explosion.
Instead, he flashed a grin at the stunned bearded man, whose eyes were filled with the light of the blast. "Now, tell me what I want to know, and perhaps I'll consider letting you go."
The bearded man could not help growing even more desperate.
Wasn't that exactly what he had just said?
But had he actually intended to let Toby go?
Obviously not...
So could Toby possibly let him go after saying the same thing?
Obviously not either...
In the end, Toby still got the coordinates of the Ten Rings' territory from the bearded man.
The bearded man had not intended to tell him. He was going to die either way, so why answer the other man's questions before dying?
So when faced with Toby's questions, the bearded man stubbornly told him to eat shit!
But Toby happened to have read materials about the Ten Great Tortures of the Manchu Qing Dynasty in his previous life—perfect for dealing with stubborn mouths.
Naturally, he did not have the conditions to carry out all ten tortures here, but a few simpler ones were still feasible.
For example, the simplest punishments: slow slicing and flaying.
So, after Toby leisurely sliced one of the bearded man's arms into hundreds of thin cuts of flesh, then used exquisite knife work to peel the skin entirely off his other arm, even this ruthless man with several bullet holes in his body could no longer endure the torture. Forget the Ten Rings—he would have betrayed his own mother.
And Toby did not break his word like the bearded man had. He truly did not kill him.
He merely tossed the bearded man—one arm sliced up like squirrel fish, the other stripped of skin with the muscles fully exposed—onto the sand and gave him a coating of breadcrumbs.
As for whether he could hold on until someone found him and got him treatment in the sparsely populated, scorching, medically backward Afghanistan desert, that was none of Toby's concern.
Still, judging by how happily the bearded man rolled around in the sand when Toby drove away, he probably would not make it to rescue...
Two days later...
It had to be said, the Ten Rings had taken Tony incredibly far away. Toby had driven for a full two days through Afghanistan's miserable, difficult desert before finally finding that damned cave!
No wonder the U.S. military had searched for so long without finding Tony.
Toby did not act immediately. Instead, he settled on a high hill, observing the Ten Rings through binoculars as he quietly waited.
Naturally, he was watching their numbers and guard arrangements.
The Ten Rings were no minor scuffle between Hell's Kitchen gangs. Terrorists in Afghanistan were far more formidable, armed with everything from rifles to rockets—and all of it was top-of-the-line merchandise made by Stark Industries!
Toby had no desire to test just how powerful Stark Industries weapons were.
After all, there was a saying in Marvel: Stark-made products were always quality goods!
Based on Toby's tests of his current physical strength, without his suit, he could stop small-caliber bullets between his skin and muscles, leaving only superficial wounds.
Rifle rounds, however, could already lodge in his muscles. If he was hit repeatedly, they could even tear through the muscle tissue.
Anything beyond that—large-caliber anti-materiel sniper rifles, high-yield explosives, or rockets—could pose a potentially fatal threat to him.
Although his high-tech suit could further boost his defenses, Toby still had no intention of taking the risk of getting hit by artillery shells. He planned to wait until nightfall, when it would be his time to act.
Once darkness fell, with his speed and the suit's thermal vision, he was confident that the Ten Rings would not even touch a hair on his head before he wiped them all out!
After determining the Ten Rings' approximate numbers and the locations of their sentries, Toby put away his binoculars, leaned against the hillside, and closed his eyes for a brief nap.
With his spider-sense, even in such an unstable environment, Toby did not have to worry about danger at all. He could sleep peacefully.
But while Toby drifted into a calm nap, Tony was having a miserable time...
