Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
After dealing with Killer and his group, Luo Ze spent another three leisurely days.
On the first day, with nothing better to do, Luo Ze casually swept through Dog Town. He killed all the notable pirates at the docks, chopped off their heads, stuffed them into sacks, and stored them in a large bag.
On the second day, Luo Ze brought a large sack of pirate heads to the Marine branch to collect the bounties. By then, his savings had reached seven hundred million Beli.
On the third day, Luo Ze hid in a tavern in Dog Town, drinking and idling away the entire day.
In the end, Luo Ze spent all three days without incident.
Yet even he did not know that, starting from the second day, Marine informants had begun secretly keeping watch on him.
Let us turn the clock back slightly to the second day.
After Luo Ze collected a large amount of bounty money from Luca and departed, Luca stared at his retreating figure and fell into deep thought.
He suddenly walked over to his desk, picked up a blue Den Den Mushi, lifted the receiver, and called a Marine officer at the office.
"Is this Intelligence Officer Ed? This is Luca. Bring me the report compiled yesterday."
The intelligence officer's reply came from the other end of the line.
Soon, Luca heard a faint knock at the door.
Luca nodded slightly, signaling for the visitor to enter. Before long, a thin man dressed in a white Marine uniform arrived before him.
He held a stack of white documents covered in dense writing.
"Rear Admiral Luca, this is yesterday's report. Please review it." The thin man handed the report to Luca.
Luca took the report in one hand. His gaze moved across its contents for a long time before finally stopping at one particular section.
"Hmph! Just as I thought!"
Luca snorted coldly and slammed the report onto the desk.
Within the report, he saw a piece of information: "Killer, an officer of the Kid Pirates, died under mysterious circumstances last night."
Of course, Killer's death had nothing to do with him. What concerned him was the condition of Killer's corpse mentioned in the report.
The report stated:
"Killer died a miserable death. The killer split his entire body in two with a sword, while his subordinates were also left with their heads separated from their bodies after death. According to the coroner's examination, the killer's methods were identical to those used in the murder of Colonel Yate and the other Marines that day. It is preliminarily determined that they were committed by the same person."
That was what concerned him the most.
According to his subordinates' investigation, the person who had killed Killer was also the culprit who had killed Yate that day.
Yet just moments ago, the pirate hunter Luo Ze had arrived early in the morning with a pile of pirate heads to claim bounties.
And among those pirate heads was Killer's!
Luca could not help becoming suspicious. Could it be that Luo Ze was the one who had killed Yate that day?
Luca pondered carefully.
The coroner had just determined that Killer and Yate had been killed by the same person, and then Luo Ze had come over carrying Killer's head. It was highly suspicious.
Moreover, why had Luo Ze mixed Killer's head in with the heads of other pirates? Had he killed them along the way, or did he have a guilty conscience and want to confuse the issue?
The more Luca thought about it, the more something felt wrong. He quickly instructed the officer before him.
"Ed, go give the order. Tell the trackers to keep a close watch on the pirate hunter Luo Ze and submit reports on everything he does."
"If there are any major discoveries, notify me immediately through a Den Den Mushi."
Ed acknowledged the order and hurried off to make the arrangements.
Luca remained seated, his mind constantly turning. Was this Luo Ze truly the culprit who had killed Yate? Had he become friends with him merely by going with the flow, or did he harbor ulterior motives?
And why had he repeatedly refused to join the Marines? Was it truly because, as he claimed, he liked freedom? Or was it because he had killed Marines and felt guilty?
Luca rubbed his temples as he continued thinking. Luo Ze seemed increasingly mysterious to him.
Let us move the clock forward another three days.
Luo Ze still did not know that Luca had begun to suspect him.
When the three days were up, Luo Ze arrived at Yulis's manor early in the morning.
To Luo Ze's surprise, Julian and Monya were both waiting at the entrance when he arrived.
Seeing Luo Ze, Yulis revealed a friendly smile.
"Mr. Luo Ze, you're here. I've already finished building the ship. Would you like to go take a look now?"
Luo Ze looked at Yulis in confusion, feeling that something was strange. Yulis had always been neither warm nor cold toward others, so why was he acting so enthusiastic today, as though he had been injected with adrenaline?
He then cast Monya a faint glance and noticed that her expression was somewhat unnatural as well, making him even more suspicious.
Could Yulis have some other matter to discuss?
"Alright. Let's go take a look."
Luo Ze nodded. Though he had some doubts in his heart, he still agreed. No matter what, inspecting the ship was more important.
"Please follow me." Yulis gestured for Luo Ze to come along, then began leading the way.
Although Monya's expression was somewhat unnatural, she obediently followed behind Luo Ze. Having witnessed Luo Ze's strength, she truly did not dare offend him so easily anymore.
Luo Ze followed Yulis for a short distance and soon caught sight of a luxurious large ship.
The ship's exterior was black. Its materials were premium, its style refined, and it looked grand and imposing, radiating an intimidating presence.
"It looks pretty good." Luo Ze nodded in satisfaction. He was quite pleased with the ship's appearance; its sheer presence alone made it look incredibly domineering.
"Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Luo Ze. Let's go inside and take a look. The ship's interior will definitely satisfy you even more."
Yulis smiled kindly and nodded confidently as he led Luo Ze onward.
"Then I'll wait and see." Luo Ze smiled as well.
Having finally obtained what he wanted, Luo Ze felt somewhat excited. With this ship, he would be able to sail through the Grand Line.
"This is the main hall."
Yulis first led Luo Ze to a spacious area.
The hall had an exquisite layout and soft lighting, giving it a comfortable atmosphere.
Several sets of soft brown sofas stood in the middle of the hall. Just from their appearance alone, it was obvious that they were top-quality goods made from fine materials.
Not only that, but several high-end-looking record players sat atop the tables, while a cabinet in the corner held a large stack of black records.
Besides that, the hall contained many other eye-catching features. For instance, the chandelier on the wall could switch its lighting at will. Then there was the large fish tank on the left, where every fish emitted a gentle glow at night...
