Background / History

Monya was born in Boke Village, a settlement later occupied by the fish-man pirate Kashal and his crew. The fish-men enslaved the villagers, killed those who resisted, and seized their homes and land. Monya and Yulis escaped, but many of their relatives were killed; reclaiming their home and taking revenge became their shared goal. 17

After escaping, Monya became a renowned South Blue pirate hunter known as Viper Monya. She served as Yulis's guard, protecting him during the attack by Killer and Kid's crew. Killer only narrowly defeated her after a prolonged fight. 11

When Luo Ze arrived at Yulis's estate, Monya mistook him for an enemy and ambushed him with her poisoned whip. Luo Ze evaded and subdued her immediately, then spared her at Yulis's request. 11

Monya subsequently guided Luo Ze to Killer's ship to rescue Yulis's granddaughter. While Luo Ze fought Killer and his crew, Monya focused on freeing the captive girl. Seeing Luo Ze overpower and kill Killer changed her assessment of him; afterward, she was much more cautious about provoking him. 12 13 14

She joined Luo Ze aboard the Ghost Sword as a guide for the journey to Boke Village, providing local knowledge of the Ketara Sea and Kashal's territory. Although she was initially hostile and distrustful toward Luo Ze, she worked with him to reach and infiltrate her former home. During the voyage, she repeatedly checked on Luo Ze while he trained under the ship's gravity machine, despite her continued dislike of his behavior. 17 18 22 24

Returning to fish-man-controlled waters revived Monya's trauma. She became visibly frightened upon encountering fish-men and briefly despaired when three Sea Kings surrounded the Ghost Sword. Luo Ze's repeated victories over these threats demonstrated to her how much stronger he was than she had realized. 21 22 23

Upon returning to Boke Village, Monya reunited with surviving villagers who initially urged her to flee before Kashal discovered her. Instead, she announced that she and Luo Ze had come to kill Kashal, refusing to abandon her home again. 26

After Kashal and the occupying fish-men were defeated, Monya declined Luo Ze's offer to return to Dog Town. She remained in Boke Village with Yulis to help its residents rebuild. 31 32

Monya is a tall, striking woman with fair skin, smooth hair, and a well-proportioned build. She is stated to be a little over 1.7 meters tall. 20

She has a proud, fiery temperament and reacts strongly to Luo Ze's dismissive behavior. Her initial confidence gives way to caution after he defeats her effortlessly and kills Killer with ease. 11 13 14

Despite her reputation as a pirate hunter, Monya carries lasting fear from the fish-men's occupation of Boke Village. She becomes anxious and physically shaken around fish-men, though she continues assisting Luo Ze and advocating for her people. 22 24 26
